Chapter 5 The Indifferent Man (Part One)

Vivian became impatient. She shouted at the driver, "Drive now! What are you waiting for?"

The driver hesitated as Jane was still standing in front of the car and refused to leave. He looked back at Vivian and said nervously, "But..."

"Just do as I tell you. Don't be afraid. I'll pay for it if she gets killed!" Vivian bellowed viciously. She was almost burning with anger now. She really wanted to leave this place right away. Seeing more and more people gathering and pointing at them, Vivian wished that Jane would die immediately and relieve them from the embarrassment. If it weren't for Jane, people wouldn't have been gossiping about them.

The car roared to life as the driver obliged Vivian's order. Meanwhile, Jane looked so anxious with tear stains all over her face. She didn't give up and begged, "Vivian, I beg you. Selina just gave birth to the baby. The doctor said that she couldn't be stimulated. Please don't take the baby away." She knelt down in front of the car.

It was all her fault. So, she'd have to take the responsibility.

People gathered around and started murmuring loudly watching the scene. Some even began to shed tears unable to see the inhuman act.

The driver couldn't bear to see it anymore. He killed the engine again. Vivian couldn't help shouting at him again, "Are you crazy? How dare you not listen to me? If you don't drive, I'll fire you immediately!"

The driver frowned and started the car again after thinking for a while. However, Selina rushed out of the hospital by then and spotted the car. She anxiously looked for her baby inside the car. But as the windows of the car were closed, she couldn't see anything clearly. She came forward and kept beating on the window and shouted anxiously, "Baby... My baby... My baby..."

'Another mad woman!' Vivian's face darkened.

"Please don't embarrass yourself in public. Have you forgotten? When you married Spenser a year ago, you signed a contract with him. Do you want me to expose it publicly?" Vivian's patience was running out.

Selina froze at the mention of the contract signed a year ago. She had been too naive in the past when she signed that contract. She didn't expect that this day would ever come.

Vivian shot her a complacent look. She knew that the contract was Selina's soft spot. She smirked and said in a loud voice, "Don't worry. When the child grows up, I will tell him about his mother's love for him. I'll let him know that he has a mother who sold him before he was born."

Hearing those words, people who were feeling sympathy for Selina suddenly looked surprised and stared at her with a disdainful look.

Selina's teary eyes darted towards another familiar figure inside the car.

Spenser! Spenser was in the car! He had been observing everything without a word. Why would he do that? He didn't even come to see her when he learned that she had given birth to his son.

"Spenser!" She patted on the window, hoping that he would say something.

Spenser saw her banging on the window while calling his name. Hearing her crying out his name, Spenser finally ordered the driver to open the car window. "Selina." His voice was firm when he spoke directly to her. "Have you forgotten that the contract between us was effective only for one year?"

Selina stood frozen when Spenser also mentioned about the contract. She felt as if her heart had been crushed by his words. Now she really wanted to cry her heart out. But she knew that crying couldn't solve anything. Holding back the tears that were about to come out, she choked out, "But the contract didn't say that I will have to leave the child to you!"

"But it also didn't say that I cannot keep the child!" Spenser's voice sounded so strange to Selina. Spenser looked at Selina's pale face, and for an unknown reason, suddenly he felt his heart beating fiercely. But it was just for an instant. He quickly blinked, averted his gaze and continued, "I have never loved you. The person I really love is Vivian!"

Nothing could hurt Selina's heart more than these words. The man she used to love so much turned out to be a heartless jerk. But it was too late for her to see his true self.

She felt like the world was closing in on her and her heart ached for her unrequited love. Standing still, Selina felt like an abandoned child who was lonely and had nowhere else to go.
