Chapter 6 Take A Seat

Ronald smiled

and pushed Cathy into Francis' arms.

He said, "Take a seat,

Catherine."

Cathy's face flushed with embarrassment. She moved aside and cast a sidelong glance at Francis. 'I should stay away from this man. That's the right thing to do."

Her move surprised Ronald.

He knitted his brows and studied her face; something seemed strange about her.

Cathy could feel the man's burning gaze, so she looked away.

Ronald shook his head and burst into laughter.

Catherine had always been timid. However, she looked strangely confident today.

"Ronald!" snapped Francis. The man's smile vanished as soon as he saw Francis glaring at him.

He cleared his throat and nodded.

"All right. Business is business. I'll do my job."

Ronald crossed his arms over his chest and stared at the couple. His whole demeanor changed.

"Are you sure you want a divorce?" he asked.

Francis rolled his eyes. "Yes."

Ronald closed his eyes and took a deep breath before giving them a sealed folder.

"Well, in that case, I want you two to take a look at this."

Francis frowned as he opened the folder. His jaw tightened as he skimmed through the contents of the document.

Cathy's gaze shifted between the document and Francis. She couldn't understand what was going on.

Francis threw the document on the table. "What the hell is this?"

"Ms. Tina Su has clearly mentioned that if you two decide to divorce within three years of marriage, her will come to force right away," Ronald explained.

Cathy looked at the document in shock. She read, "If Francis Mu chose to divorce his wife, Catherine Lu, within three years of marriage, he will lose his right to inherit the family's property. S Group will fall in the hands of the next heir in line. If Catherine Lu divorces Francis Mu within three years of marriage, the Mu family will revoke its sponsorship for L Group." The document was signed and sealed by Tina Su.

Cathy arched an eyebrow. The will was an interesting twist in Francis' plans.

"Who is Tina Su?" asked Cathy, her eyes dazzling with excitement.

"What?" Ronald's jaw dropped in shock. "Are you out of your mind, Catherine?"

Cathy's smile froze in an instant. 'Damn it! How could I forget that I'm Catherine now?'

She dropped her gaze to the floor, trying to conceal the fear and embarrassment on her face.

Francis sprang to his feet and grabbed Ronald's collar.

"Why didn't you tell me that there was a will?"

Ronald lifted his arms in surrender.

"I'm sorry, Francis, but this is what your mother wanted. I can't go against my client's wishes."

Francis' breathing faltered. Just when Cathy thought that he would start a fight, the man pushed Ronald away.

"Why are you telling all this now?

I want to end this marriage."

"I understand, Francis. But if you end this marriage, then you will be forced to give up your identity as the heir of the Mu family. You know better than anyone else that people are waiting for you to relinquish your power. Do you want to give them that joy?"

Francis' face turned red. Cathy understood that he was furious.

She sat in silence and observed the man. She still couldn't understand why he wanted to divorce Catherine.

If he wasn't in love with her, then why did he marry her in the first place?

The questions in her head seemed to multiply.

Cathy's head began to spin. She tried to stand up, but her vision grew foggy. Her legs gave away and she passed out on the floor.
