Chapter 8 Get Into Trouble

The commercial district was the most prosperous place in Z City, with towering skyscrapers and busy shops.

However, the most conspicuous one of them all was the building of S Group that stood tall in the middle of the commercial district.

S Group was one of the top fifty enterprises in the world and had business across the globe. Their diverse operations catered to the needs of different industries.

The company occupied an unmatchable position in Z City.

Francis' great-grandfather founded S Group. He shed his blood and sweat to turn the company into a business empire.

The power to run the company belonged to the descendants of the Mu family. Francis was in charge of the company now.

There were many legends about the S Group. Francis' father, Jeremy Mu, had no interest in the affairs of the company. He had a creative mind and lacked the skills to manage the company. Under his management, S Group encountered an unprecedented financial crisis and was almost on the brink of shut down. Francis' grandfather couldn't handle the mental trauma; his health began to deteriorate.

When everyone believed that the company would perish, Jeremy's wife, Tina, took over the company.

Within a year, Tina turned the tide and made S Group successful yet again.

Therefore, Tina became one of the most powerful women in Z City.

When Jeremy's father was on his deathbed, he made an unexpected decision.

Instead of passing on S Group to his son, he bequeathed the company to his daughter-in-law, Tina.

Therefore, Tina became the heir of the S Group. She worked as the president and chairman of the company.

On the day Tina took up her position in the office, Jeremy disappeared from Z City, leaving everyone confused.

Jeremy's unexpected departure soon became the topic of everyone's discussion.

Under Tina's management, S Group grew into a successful company with subsidiaries all over the world.

Unfortunately, Tina grew ill and handed over the company to her only son, Francis.

Francis was a prodigy in the business world. His decisiveness and strong managerial skills made him a better leader than his mother.

Within a few months, he managed to subdue all the directors and no one would challenge him again.

Francis' keen eyes swept across every corner of the office. He fisted his palm as his blood boiled with rage.

'If I divorce Catherine, then I'll lose my right to inherit the company.

Damn it! Why does it have to be this way?'

Francis angrily pushed the files on the table, making them fall on the carpet.

Just then, the door flew open, and a tall man walked in.

The man was Otis Guan, the son of the company's shareholder Jack Guan. Otis and Francis were good friends.

Francis, Otis, Ronald, Andrew Ji, the deputy mayor of Z City, Marcus Ouyang, the leader of the criminal underworld, and Stephen Jian, a media tycoon were the six most powerful and handsome men in Z City.

Although they worked in different fields, the men shared an inseparable bond.

The women in the city had a huge crush on them.

A wicked smile crept on Otis' lips as he looked at the mess on the floor.

"Oh, no! Has anyone offended the great Francis Mu?"

"Fuck off, Otis!"

Francis growled. He wasn't in the mood to listen to his friend's joke.

However, Otis wasn't ready to leave him alone. "Calm down, buddy. I have come to tell you something. We are going to throw a party tonight."

Francis' face softened as his anger subsided. He slumped on his chair and began to think.

Otis grabbed his phone and captured a picture of Francis's grumpy face.

Francis caught his friend clicking his picture, so she picked his phone from the table and threw it at him.

Otis ducked aside and chuckled. "That's how you look when you're worried. Anyway, see you at the same place tonight."

He waved his hand and darted out of the office.

Francis' mouth twitched with anger. 'The guy is so annoying.'

After breakfast, all the servants left, leaving Cathy alone in the room.

Cathy let out a contented sigh and slumped on the bed.

She lazed around for a while before leaving the room.

"Good morning, Mrs. Mu!"

"Good morning, Mrs. Mu!"

The servants passing by walked up to Cathy and greeted her.

Her room was on the second floor, and she walked down the stairs to the first floor.

Bliss smiled and greeted Cathy as soon as she saw her.

"Mrs. Mu, what can I do for you? You could have just called me instead of coming down by yourself."

Cathy's eyes widened with astonishment. 'Why is everyone surprised to see me on the first floor?'

She rolled her eyes and placed her hand on Bliss's shoulder.

"Bliss, you know that I have lost my memories, don't you?"

Bliss nodded.

"Can you tell me what I usually do on a typical day? What was my routine before I lost my memories?"

"You do many things, Mrs. Mu. You start your day by having a healthy breakfast. Then, you practice the piano in your room for a while before making lunch for Mr. Mu. You occasionally hang out with your friends and go shopping with them. In the evening, you wait in the living room for Mr. Mu," Bliss answered, shrugging.

"What?" 'Is this what women from wealthy families do?' Cathy wondered.

"Mrs. Mu, are you going to practice the piano now?"

"Huh?" Cathy glanced at her palms and frowned.

"No. I want to take a stroll."

"Take a stroll?" Bliss cast a quizzical glance.

"I have forgotten how the house looks like, so I want to walk around and see if I remember anything."

"Okay!" Bliss nodded. "I'll accompany you to the garden."

'Wow! There is a garden!' Cathy suppressed her smile and followed her maid. "All right. Let's go!"

It was a bright, windy day. The lush flowers were dancing in the garden.

The fountain not far away caught Cathy's attention as soon as they walked out of the villa. Her worries dissipated at the sight of the crystal water cascading in steady streams.

"Mrs. Mu, there is a garden to your right; it has a pavilion in the corner. The swimming pool is to your left. But you have never used the pool."

Cathy pursed her lips and nodded.

'Doesn't Catherine know to swim? That's a shame!'

Cathy was a good swimmer. She and her friends used to go swimming at the pool in their orphanage.

She was eager to find out what the swimming pool looked like. She made a mental note to check it out when no one was around.

Following Bliss' steps, Cathy arrived at the garden.

Her eyes widened in admiration. The place looked breathtaking.

"Wow, it's beautiful!"

The teeming rows of lilies were dancing with the breeze.

Cathy grinned and plucked a bunch of lilies that were in full bloom.

She brought them to her nose and inhaled the sweet scent of the flowers.

Bliss let out a piercing scream that reverberated across the silent garden. Cathy jumped in shock.

Some of the flowers in her hand fell down as she turned to look at Bliss.

"Why were you screaming? You scared me to death."

Bliss broke into a cold sweat. She grabbed Cathy's arm and forced her out of the garden.

"Why did you pick these flowers?" Bliss gritted her teeth and stared at the flowers in Cathy's hands.

"What do you mean why? I like lilies, so I picked them. Do you want me to wait for the flowers to wither?"

Cathy grinned happily.

"Mrs. Mu, have you forgotten about these flowers? Mr. Mu planted them. We are not allowed to go near these plants, let alone touch them."

"What? Why? Flowers are meant to be picked."

"Mrs. Mu..." Bliss looked defeated. She didn't know how to explain her concern.

"Catherine Lu!" A cold voice resonated across the silent place.

Catherine and Bliss stopped talking and turned around to see who it was.

Francis' tall figure came into view.

"Oh shit!" Cathy cursed under her breath. The two of them shuddered and stepped back.

A shiver ran through Cathy's spine as she looked at Francis' murderous look.

She pulled Bliss to the front and hid behind her, hoping that the man wouldn't see her.
