Chapter 5 Aden Misunderstands Janiya

"Gianna is not that good anyway. Yes, we know that she saved your life and you're indebted to her. In fact, we all are. But that doesn't mean you will marry her. You can repay Gianna's courage for risking her life to save yours in some other way."

Weston knew Aden's weakness. The more he mentioned Gianna, the chances of Aden leaving Gianna would be less.

Aden didn't even bother to look at Weston. He just continued to stare at Maison with eyes filled with anger and hatred. Then he finally presented his opinion. "Dad, what if I say that you will lose me if you hurt Gianna?"

After racking his brains to try to come up with a solution, this was what he finally zeroed in on. Aden himself was the only threat to Maison. Apart from this, he had no way to fight with Maison.

Maison's face turned red. He had never expected that Aden would say something like this. He was so furious that he hit the desk with his fists. He even threw the teacups to the ground and shouted, "You ungrateful son! How dare you threaten me for that woman? If you have decided that you don't want to be my son, then get the hell out of here and never show me your face again. And as for Gianna, I will kill her!"

Aden glared at Maison, then turned around and stormed out of the study. He slammed the door so hard that the frames on the walls shook.

"Then disappear forever! Do not enter this house again!" Maison smashed everything that his hands could find. Anyone could see how angry he was.

Weston knew that it was the right time for him to behave and be the good son. So he stood up and went to his father, saying, "Dad, Aden loves that girl. He is even ready to give us up for her. Don't fight with Aden because of her. Why are you not allowing that girl to marry in our family? Peace in the family is of utmost importance."

Listening to what Weston had to say, Maison got all the more angrier. "No way! As long as I'm alive, I will see to it that Aden doesn't get married to that woman!"

Aden sped out of the Morrison family's driveway with tires screaming. He sped through the city, without bothering about the red lights or his safety. When he finally slammed the breaks and looked around, he saw a bar and started yearning for a drink.

Lachlan arrived later. This was the first time he saw Aden in such a state.

He sat down on the seat next to Aden and clapped a hand on his shoulder. Lachlan looked at Aden and said, "Bro, do you really like Gianna so much? Is it really worth fighting with your father over her?" Lachlan had witnessed the love growing between them. It was his personal opinion that Aden and Gianna hadn't reached that level in their relationship, where they had to make a vow of allegiance towards each other.

Aden was in a bad mood. He didn't know whether it was because his father didn't care for his happiness or because he couldn't be with Gianna.

Aden was silent. As he was about to take another sip from his glass, Lachlan reached over and held Aden's hand. He ignored Aden's glare and asked, "Aden, have you given it any thought on being with that Janiya?"

Aden's brows drew together and he looked threateningly at Lachlan. Lachlan raised in hands in surrender and said, "Hey, don't look at me like that. Let me finish what I have to say. As long as you are with Janiya, your father will ignore Gianna. It doesn't matter if you can't marry her. If Gianna truly loves you, then she will still be happy just being with you, without getting married. That way, your position at the company will be safe and you can be with your beloved too."

Aden got a contemplative look in his eyes.

Lachlan knew that Aden was mulling over his suggestion, so he patted Aden on the shoulder and said, "Dude, if you need my help, all you have to do is ask. I may not be able to help you kill someone, but I can definitely help you with some other stuff."

Aden gulped the last of his wine in one shot and patted Lachlan on the shoulder. He took his phone from the pocket and dialed a number. He waited for the other person to answer and said something in a very low tone. Finally, he threw money on the bar counter that covered his bill and tips, and walked out of the bar.

Janiya was happy that her father had managed to clear everything with the Morrison family. Today she felt like going for a drive. She quickly got ready, had her breakfast and walked out of the house, with a skip in her step. As soon as she closed the door and turned around, her feet were rooted to the ground. Janiya was shocked to see Aden in front of her house. She had forgotten how attractive he was. Aden was leaning against the car with his hands in the pockets and his legs crossed at the ankles. Anyone who didn't know him would think he was the most carefree and casual guy. It was obvious that he was waiting for her.

When their eyes met, Janiya couldn't help but think of that night at the hotel. She felt a blush creep up from her neck and hoped he didn't notice it. She was standing a few steps away from Aden.

It was the first time that Aden had carefully observed Janiya. She was a fair lady, tall with a slender figure and delicate facial features. She had lovely eyes and very thin lips. Her clothes complimented her figure and face. Even though he had seen countless beauties, he had to admit that Janiya was a stunning woman. There was a different kind of charm about her.

But soon, Aden's eyes turned cold. He said with disgust, "Janiya, you planned this from the very start, right? And when I didn't fall for your charm and beauty, you pressurized me with the newspaper articles. Did you think I would want to spend my life with you, when you pulled these kinds of stunts? As a member of the Hamilton faimly and a top honor student who graduated from Harvard, you are actually a tricky and conniving woman. I didn't expect this at all."

Janiya's eyes widened with shock. All the blood drained from her face. It was the first time someone had described her so cruelly. But, the very next moment she thought of all the reports and how they all said that she stole a boyfriend, she came to a conclusion that maybe Aden's relationship was affected and that was the reason for his anger. If that was the truth, then the blame fell squarely on her shoulders.

Janiya ignored Aden's insulting words and apologized with sincerity, "I'm sorry, Mr. Morrison. It was entirely my fault that day. I had just returned home that very day. My sister wanted to have dinner with me and even though I was jet-lagged, I couldn't refuse. And as we all know, jet-lag is a bad thing. I started to feel sick and wanted to rest in the room my sister had booked for me, but I entered the wrong room. I never imagined that it would snowball into something so huge. If it has caused any trouble between you and your girlfriend, I'm really sorry.

But I have never thought of having anything to do with you and that's the truth."

Aden didn't expect that Janiya would still feed him lies. 'Janiya is damn fine actor! This performance would definitely garner an Oscar!' Aden grudgingly praised her.

"Will you stop it? Will you stop pretending that you are a good woman when apparently you are not? Gianna is missing. Are you happy now? Since you wanted to be with me, well, I accept. But, I hope you won't regret it." Aden glared at Janiya, his face looked as if it was chiseled in stone.

Shocked by Aden's words, Janiya took several steps back and said in disbelief, "Mr. Morrison, I don't know what you are talking about. If there is any misunderstanding between you and your girlfriend, I will make it clear to her that it was my fault. Once your girlfriend knows that it was a misunderstanding, she will definitely come back to you."

Thinking that Janiya was a hypocrite, Aden hated her all the more. He hated such disgusting and insincere women the most. "Janiya, stop lying. I've come across a lot of women like you. Since you want to marry into the Morrison family, I'll fulfill your wish."

Aden grabbed Janiya's arm and dragged her to the passenger side of his car.

Janiya didn't want to get into Aden's car, but she couldn't free herself from his grip of steel. No matter how much she struggled, it did not loosen Aden's grip. She was pushed in the car. By the time she straightened herself, Aden had already taken his seat and locked the car doors. He started the car and drove away from Janiya's place.

Janiya started to feel a little scared, she pleaded, "Mr. Morrison, you can't do this. It was totally a misunderstanding. Please listen to me. You are the one who has wronged me." Janiya had been taught to be a fair and elegant lady from an early age. In this case, she only wanted to explain. However, what would happen later was completely beyond her expectation.

Janiya kept on repeating her plea, hoping that Aden would listen to her. Aden couldn't take her nagging, so he suddenly slammed the brakes and brought the car to a halt and glared at her. "Janiya, you are trying my patience. I'm taking you to the Civil Affairs Bureau. Shouldn't you be happy, now that your plans have succeeded?"

Janiya was tired of explaining and also felt a bit ridiculous for repeating the same thing over and over again. She laughed ironically and said, "Aden, you are so funny! Who do you think you are? Why should I love you? That was the first day I came back from the United States. I had never heard of you before that day. You are so full of yourself! I'm from the Hamilton family and I'm a graduate from Harvard. How could I fall in love with a person such as yourself, who is domineering and unreasonable?"
