Chapter 7 Dinner At The Morrison's

At Janiya's entry, Aden looked up from what he was doing and raised his brows in surprise. He put down the pen and leaned back in his chair. "As a member of the Hamilton family, you're not very polite. Janiya, you should have knocked before entering my office."

"Aden, you're crossing your limits." Janiya admitted that she was not as patient as Aden.

"Oh? Did I do something to offend you? I have absolutely no idea." Aden tilted his head in mockery and crossed his arms, as if he knew nothing.

Janiya thought of her mother's ailing heart and couldn't stay calm. She said, "You can vent your anger and grudge on me! Leave my mother out of this. Let her go. I beg you."

"So, is this how a Harvard graduate asks for help? I'm sorry, it was not sincere enough." Aden mocked with a slight smile. Aden looked calm and relaxed, but within seconds his expression changed to stone. He cast a cold look at Janiya.

"Aden, you are breaking the law. I can call the police." This was the best that Janiya could come up with.

"Well, go ahead. But when the police find her..." Aden didn't complete his sentence, but it sounded very scary.

Janiya gasped, she thought back to the scene, when Aden had tried to strangle her. Aden was a dangerous man, but no matter what, Janiya swore that she would save her mother from his monstrous grip.

Janiya paused for a few seconds and tried to calm down. "Mr. Morrison, please let my mother go."

"Your mother? What does your mother have to do with me? I didn't do anything to your mother. By the way, you mother seemed to have some heart problem. Is it possible that she came to know that you're a mistress and couldn't bear it, so she left in a fit of anger and shame? Miss Hamilton, I heard that patients who suffer from heart ailments, can't stand any mental stress, or something terrible could happen." Having said that, Aden looked down and resumed reading his documents.

"Miss Hamilton, if there is nothing else to talk about, you can leave," he commanded without looking at Janiya.

Janiya knew what Aden meant, so she didn't dare leave. Janiya knew her mother very well. If Aden leaked those newspaper articles to her mother, she might get upset and have a relapse. And judging by her physical condition, if she had a relapse, her life would be in danger. "Mr. Morrison, I'm sorry. But what should I do that will make you let my mother go?"

Without looking up from his documents, Aden said in a cold voice, "Miss Hamilton, have you forgotten so soon what I want? Why don't you come back when you remember?"

Hearing that, Janiya's thoughts flew to the day they had last met. Her eyes widened when she understood and asked in a trembling voice, "To sign the marriage contract?"

Aden didn't say anything, but Janiya knew what he was hinting at. She wanted to refuse, but she was desperate and she couldn't see any way out. After a lengthy silence, Janiya answered in a small voice, "Okay, I'll sign it."

Janiya was unaware of how she walked out of Glory Group. All she knew was that a man, whom she didn't love, would be part of her life.

The next day, Janiya received a call from Aden. He said that he would be taking her for dinner at the Morrison's Villa. He hung up before Janiya could refuse.

Janiya stared blankly at the phone. She carefully kept the phone down. She was not accustomed to this brutish behavior, nor the change in her identity.

When she promptly arrived at the meeting place, Aden was already waiting, dressed in a suit. He was very handsome and Janiya was slightly embarrassed to find herself attracted to him.

Aden was tall, a couple of inches over six feet, with a perfect lean muscular figure and a stunning face. He came from a powerful family and was currently doing very well for himself in the business world. Most importantly, he was very faithful. His girlfriend must be so happy to have him in her life.

Janiya suddenly envied his girlfriend, Gianna. 'If a guy like Aden, would love me so much and go against his family for me, then I would be so happy.'

Aden just glanced at Janiya and without saying a word, sat in the car. He started the car and signaled Janiya to get in.

Janiya rolled her eyes at Aden's behavior and sighed. She went straight to the passenger seat and fastened her seat belt. Aden drove the car steadily. Janiya felt a bit stressed to be sharing the little space with him.

Finally, they reached the luxurious villa and the car glided to halt in front of the entrance to the villa.

They both got out of the car. Aden walked towards Janiya and offered her his arm. Janiya was confused for a second. Then she remembered that they had to act as a couple and she grudgingly held his arm.

Mason was sitting in the living room and was looking at the couple who walked in hand in hand. His eyes were full of happiness. He smiled kindly at Janiya and gave her fond look. "Janiya, welcome. When Aden informed me that he was bringing you for dinner, I asked the cook to prepare a lot of dishes. But, I don't know whether you will like it or not."

Mason looked nice and his voice was filled with warmth. Janiya couldn't believe that such a kind person would use a woman to get his way and trade his son's happiness for his business. Well, looks could always be deceiving.

Although Janiya didn't like Mason, she smiled at him and said, "Thank you, uncle. Don't worry, I'm not a picky eater."

Aden didn't want to see the two "actors" acting to be something they were not, so he said to Mason, "Dad, I have something to discuss with you."

In the study, Aden came straight to the point. "I'm dating Janiya and we've signed the marriage contract. You can now let Gianna go."

Mason showed no emotion on his face. Somehow he had seen through Aden and Janiya and this farce of a relationship. He said, "Okay. I'll contact Jedidiah and we'll hold a wedding, right away. After the wedding, I'll let Gianna go." Mason's words blocked any way of retreat that Aden had in mind.

Aden didn't expect that his father would make such a request. He could not hide his anger. "Dad, I have done exactly as you ordered. Do you have to completely destroy our relationship?"

Mason looked at Aden with eyes that had no affection, but only interests. "Aden, as long as you are really with Janiya and get the support from the Hamilton family, I will free Gianna. Until then, I won't interfere with how you treat her."

Aden didn't expect his father could be so cruel. In today's world, there was a person who traded his son's marriage and happiness for interests and profits, and that person was his father. "If you don't let Gianna go, I will not marry Janiya, ever!"

Mason took a long and hard look at Aden. He knew his son very well. He couldn't push Aden too hard or it would backfire. "Okay, I will contact the Hamilton family to prepare the wedding. As long as you behave well, I will let Gianna go. But you have to remember, that I have the power to make Gianna disappear again. Moreover, everyone knows that Jedidiah loves Janiya. It is not easy to pull wool over his eyes. So you must deal with your relationship very carefully."

Aden hated it the most when anyone threatened him. In his current situation, he had no choice, but it didn't mean that he would never resist. He kept all the hatred in his mind.

Janiya was wandering alone in the villa. She was admiring her surroundings, when she came face to face with Aden's brother. She was surprised to see him. Weston was equally surprised to see Janiya at the Morrison's villa. Janiya politely nodded in a way of greeting and moved away.

To her surprise, Weston stopped her by saying, "Miss Hamilton, I don't believe that you can't figure out Aden's purpose. He only sees you as a tool, for his benefit. Why did you decide to be with him?"
