Chapter 10 She Is My Sister

"Who was that, Nathan?" Sally looked at Nathan questioningly. Nathan, on the other hand, had his attention fixed on Delilah who was walking upstairs. Frustrated, Sally wrapped her arms around him to get his attention.

This act caught Nathan's attention. He looked at Sally who was desperately clinging to him. He felt a little disgusted and he wanted to throw her out. Instead, he sighed and gently removed her from him. He sat on the sofa and said, "Her name is Li... Delilah An, she is my sister. "

At first, Nathan felt the urge to reveal her as Lilah, but he decided against it. He didn't like it when other people used Lilah as an endearment to her. It felt something private to him only. He wanted to be the only person who could call her as such, and no one else had the right.

"Oh?" Sally felt a little uneasy at this. Curious, she wanted to know more about his relationship with the girl. "I didn't know you had a sister, Nathan. You've never mentioned her before. You also have different surnames. Why is that?"

Nathan despised it when people were drilling him with such questions. Of course, there was nothing he hated more than people thinking that Delilah was his own sister. This made him feel like there was a solid barrier between them. Nathan felt like he was just pushing Delilah farther and farther away, and the ethical barrier would always shackle them, making him unable to get closer to her.

"Just don't ask, Sally. There are some things that you shouldn't be poking."

When Sally saw the glint of coldness in Nathan's eyes, she momentarily froze. "Fine, I'll drop it," she nodded.

When it was time for dinner, Delilah didn't go down to have her meal. She locked herself in the room and nobody knew how she was doing inside.

Nathan had asked a maid to check up on her several times. The maid informed him that Delilah locked herself inside the room and there was no answer every time she called for her.

All the dishes prepared on the table were Delilah's favorites, but she wasn't there. Nathan frowned. Only Sally was there to keep him company. He had no appetite, and he asked the maid to look for the spare key to Delilah's room. He planned to personally go visit her upstairs.

Of course, Sally was a little frustrated that Nathan was completely ignoring her since Delilah's arrival. She quickly stood up and followed him. "Nathan, I think Delilah must be tired. Let's have dinner first. I'm starving to death."

Nathan didn't respond. Instead, he turned around and shot Sally a cold glance. She was starting to get on his nerves.

Sally kept quiet once she saw the icy stare from Nathan. She left it at that and went back to her seat.

Nathan turned around and continued going towards Delilah's room. When he arrived, her bedroom door was still closed and he couldn't hear any sound from the inside.

"Lilah?" Nathan knocked three times. When he heard no response for a long time, he decided to open her bedroom door instead.

When he got inside her room, he saw her lying on the big and soft bed with her back to him. He didn't know if she was asleep.

Then, he lifted his foot and walked gently towards the bedside. He called her in a low voice, "Lilah."
