Chapter 8 Chapter 8

The bathroom was prone to visitors at any time, especially since Hazel was still in the cinema.

Kimberly didn't want to argue with Scott here, and even less wanted to see him!

"Kim."

She used to love it when he called her that, but now it just sounded bitterly ironic.

Tears welled up in Kimberly's eyes; she turned around, prepared to push Scott away, but instead found herself pinned against the sink.

Scott kissed her lips fiercely.

She had experienced kisses like this, but at this moment, it felt like a poisonous insect had stung her, causing discomfort and a feeling of suffocation.

She bit him hard. "Let go of me!"

Scott trembled in pain and subconsciously let go of her, then tried to placate her by whispering, "Kimberly, can you please let me explain? Things aren't what you think."

"Get lost!"

The moment Kimberly pushed him away, her face was filled with tears, and her body trembled uncontrollably from anger and humiliation.

"Scott, Hazel is still waiting for you in the theatre. As her fiancé, aren't you afraid of what she would do if she found out that you were forcefully kissing your ex-girlfriend here?"

"Disappear from my sight instantly, or I might just let slip about our relationship with Hazel, and your little game would be over!"

A chilling light flashed in Scott's eyes, his fists clenched and then slowly relaxed. He sighed subtly, took a piece of tissue from the sink, and gently wiped the tears from her face.

"Kimberly, wait for me. I'll come find you tonight."

Overwhelmed by immense pain and rage, Kimberly was completely drained; she barely had the strength to even push Scott away again.

Sounds of footsteps echoed from outside; someone was coming.

Scott laid a kiss on her forehead, carelessly tossed the tissue into a nearby trash bin, and then turned to leave.

Kimberly clenched her fists tightly, her voice trembling, "Scott, we've already broken up. I don't want to see you anymore. Don't come looking for me!"

Scott hesitated slightly but said nothing more, and then he exited the restroom.

Leaning on the sink, Kimberly was unable to hold back her tears.

---

Inside the cinema.

Seeing Scott back, Hazel asked in a sweet voice, "Why did you take so long? The movie is almost over."

Scott adjusted his collar, "Just went out for a smoke."

"No wonder," Hazel moved closer to smell him, "you smell of smoke."

Scott simply responded with a faint smile.

Turning to glance at the seat next to her, Hazel was just about to ask where Kimberly was when her mobile phone began to vibrate.

Taking a look, she saw a message from Kimberly.

"I left early so as not to interrupt your date."

Scott slightly turned his head, the content of the message clear at a glance.

"Kimberly left early, saying she didn't want to disturb us."

Hazel pouted as she complained, "I said we'd meet up tomorrow, but you insisted on doing it today. I finally get to see Kimberly, but you ruined it. Now she must think that I have forgotten friends when seeing a lover. It's all your fault."

Scott's gaze was profound. He didn't speak, lost in his thoughts.

Hazel didn't notice his unusual mood, she softly said, "Scott, Kimberly is my best friend and your nominal sister. For my sake, please be nicer to her at home in the future. Don't let her feel wrong, okay?"

"Keeping my relationship with you a secret from her is bad enough, now even our gatherings are interrupted by you."

From her tone, it sounded like she was mad, but it was exceptionally sweet.

Scott nodded, his smile warm.

Seeing him agree, Hazel leaned happily onto his shoulder, "Scott, you're so nice."

Late in the night at Multivitals corporation

After finishing his shift, Allen descended the stairs and reached the ground floor lobby, only to see a figure curled up on a sofa in the corner.

Kimberly?

The man stared at the woman sleeping snugly on the sofa. He watched her for a while, then bent down and gently patted her.

Kimberly, deep asleep, was not pleased about being awakened.

"Who's there? Can't you see someone is sleeping?!"

When Allen pinched the woman's chin with his finger, a rosy little face instantly caught his eyes.

He furrowed his eyebrows slightly, "Why are you sleeping here? And you've been drinking too?"

"Allen?"

When Kimberly recognized the person, her drunken stupor subsided somewhat, particularly when she met the man's profound gaze, causing a sudden tightening in her heart.

"Why – why are you here?"

She stammered, tongue-tied in fright.

At such a close distance, her alcohol breath made his brow furrow even deeper.

"This is a company, not a place for you to sleep casually."

Kimberly, blinking her big innocent eyes, looked innocent, "I didn't sleep casually, I was sleeping on the couch, wasn't I?"

Allen sighed, "Has your car not been fixed yet?"

Kimberly shook her head, looking a bit wronged.

"Come, let me take you home."

He picked up her coat from the couch and stepped forward a few paces, realizing she wasn't following and frowned looking back.

"You don't want to leave?"

The tone was cold, sexy, and dangerous.

"Uh, can I... can I sleep in the office? I can't stay here, maybe I should go back to the office?"

She clasped her hands together, pleading with soft eyes.

She didn't want to go home, fear of Scott coming for her, she feared that she would not have the heart, to resist and then do something wrong...

Allen glanced at her, "Reason."

"I really have nowhere to go." Kimberly bit her lip, hesitating, "Or can I follow you back?"

Allen, "..."

He took a deep breath, taking a few quick steps back to stand before her, his gaze deep and inscrutable.

"Kimberly, do you know what it means to go back with a man?"

"What does it mean?" Kimberly lifted her slightly drooping eyelids, pretending to be ignorant, "Does it mean to have sex with you?"

The man before her was elegant and noble, exuding an air of high-ranking leisure that was simply irresistible to countless women, even when he was slightly exposed.

"I'm sorry," Kimberly sighed heavily, dropping her head down dejectedly, "I'm not in the mood tonight."

Allen narrowed his eyes, his handsome face half illuminated, his emotions deep and hard to fathom.

Pulling up a smile that was both sarcastic and riddled with irony, Kimberly responded, "Next time. When I'm in the mood, I'll turn to you for shelter."

If she slept with Allen now, how would it be any different from the dog of a man, Scott Robinson?

It was just a moment of impulse before, and she should let it go now.

Thinking of Scott, her heart tightened again, shrinking more and more, as if she was about to suffocate at any moment.

Kimberly stumbled out of the company's Building. The scorching night wind swept across her face, taking away some of her drunkenness.

She took out her phone, planning to see where she could stay for the night when a cold male voice suddenly came from behind her.

"Follow me."

"Do you really want to take me in?" Kimberly hesitated subconsciously, "But I."

"Two banners."

The man brushed past her, his low voice lingered in the night wind.

Once Kimberly realized, she rubbed her lightly flushed cheeks and chased after him with a smile, "Okay! I'll have them made tomorrow and personally deliver them to you!"

*******

Fifteen minutes later, at white lake apartments.

Kimberly snuggled in Allen's arms. Her cheeks were rosy, like an obedient drunken kitten.

Just after Allen put her on the bed, his pocket vibrated. He took out his phone, it was James.

Once he picked up the call, a teasing voice rang in his ears.

"CEO Snyder, has your car gone abroad? Everyone is here, we are just waiting for you."

There was a lot of noise on the other end, sounding like there were many people.

He had originally made plans with James and others to play cards at the Elite Building.

"Something came up, you guys carry on."

With a few brief phrases, Allen ended the call.

He shoved his phone back into his pocket, his gaze falling on the woman lying on the bed.

Kimberly was drunk to oblivion.

Her gray pleated skirt slanted sloppily to one side, exposing a long expanse of fair leg, the lace of her black underwear peeking out, embodying a sultry allure that completely contrasted with her casual attire.

Did she not regard him as a man at all?

Allen owned many properties, and White Lake Apartment was just one of those. He didn't visit often but had a cleaner coming in regularly, which made it easier for his occasional stays.

He hadn't stayed for quite some time but all necessities were readily available.

He rummaged through a drawer in the TV stand, found some hangover cure, and took a bottle of mineral water out of the refrigerator, placing them both on the bedside table.

As he bent over, ready to cover Kimberly with the blanket that she had kicked off, the woman sat up abruptly and latched onto him.

"Why are you still not in bed ?"
