Chapter 7 Chapter 7

After filling their stomachs with food and drink, Kimberly was just about to pay the bill when she realized she didn't have any cash on her and her phone had long since been turned off.

The owner was still holding the payment code standing next to her, and Kimberly was unbearably embarrassed, she could only look at Allen with her foggy, large eyes.

"Mr. Snyder, would you mind treating me today? I promise to return the favour another day!"

To show her sincerity, she earnestly raised her right hand.

"I swear, I will not back out on this promise!"

Allen took a puff of his cigarette, his handsome face partially hidden in the smoke, his half-closed eyes filled with unreadable emotions.

He crushed the cigarette butt in the ashtray on the table, checked out with his phone, "You owe me a meal."

Kimberly giggled, "No problem, I'll pay you back and also the medical fees."

When she was riding back in Allen's car, halfway through the journey, a business card was suddenly placed in front of Kimberly's eyes. A black card, decorated with dark gold patterns, it did not even have a name on it, only a string of numbers.

Allen's mobile number.

"No wonder you're the CEO, your business card looks so expensive."

Allen, who was driving, casually replied, "Yeah, it's gold-plated."

"Really?" Kimberly studied the card closely for a while, then suddenly said, "The business card of the head of the Snyder family, it must be worth quite a bit, right?"

"You can try to find out." His tone was casual, showing no emotion.

"Yeah, I'll try putting it up on the internet."

As soon as the words fell, his gaze swept over instantly.

Contrarily, Kimberly was unafraid, but rather laughed out loud unabashedly, like a mischievous imp who has succeeded in creating mischief.

The car stopped beneath the apartment building.

Kimberly waved at Allen, "It's too late, I won't invite you up. Good night, Mr. Snyder."

Allen didn't move, he lit a cigarette and watched her enter the apartment building.

Five minutes later, the lights in the south-facing room on the seventeenth floor came on.

Allen exhaled a puff of smoke, leaning lazily back into his seat, his gaze fell on the greenery before the apartment building, his expression murky and unfathomable.

--

Saturday afternoon, Hallmark Plaza.

Kimberly was dressed in casual clothing with white shoes and carrying a small bag into the shopping mall.

Hazel, who was waiting at the mall entrance, waved at her, "Kimberly, over here!"

Upon hearing the call, Kimberly froze on the spot, her blood turning to ice.

Her grip on the chain of her small bag tightened, the metal round buckle almost embedding in her skin without her realization.

She saw Hazel Watson, dressed in a form-fitting dress, her hair in large wavy curls, leading an elegantly casual and handsome Scott Robinson towards her with a bright smile on her face.

Kimberly bit her lip tightly, only gradually sobering up when the sharp pain spread across her mouth.

Hazel noticed her distraction and apologized with a blush on her cheeks, "Kimberly, I'm sorry. I just remembered after our meeting yesterday that I made plans to watch a movie with Scott today."

"You and Scott are so close. You don't mind him joining us, right?"

Suppressing the surging emotions in her heart, Kimberly forced out a smile, "I don't mind."

As soon as the words fell out of her mouth, it was as if she could hear the sound of her heart shattering, resonating in her chest.

Especially upon seeing their tightly clasped hands.

One was a good friend of twelve years, the other, her childhood sweetheart of seven.

Hazel noticed her odd expression and assumed she was angry, so she stepped forward to take her hand and apologized quietly.

"Kimberly, I'm really sorry. I've been wanting to tell you about Scott and me, but with the time difference, I never found the right time. I thought I would tell you when I come back to the country."

She had been with Scott before she returned home?

This realization gave Kimberly goosebumps.

She turned her head reflexively to look at Scott, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Scott, his eyes cast down, avoided her gaze and suggested to Hazel, "We should go eat first, then watch the movie."

Noticing Kimberly's off expression, Hazel mistook her for being upset for not telling her sooner and gently swung their intertwined hands as if to act coquettishly.

"Kimberly, please forgive me...... Let me treat you to some delicious food as compensation for my mistake, okay?"

Kimberly clenched her fists so hard that she was nearly drawing blood, yet she could only force a smile.

Eating this meal was particularly unbearable.

She depleted all her energy just to keep her exposed, not letting Hazel see what she was going through.

The movie tickets were for three consecutive seats.

Kimberly bit down on her cola straw, her gaze blankly focused on the movie screen, while the affectionate conversation between the two and Hazel's giggles kept drifting from the side.

It was like her heart was being sliced with a knife.

Only half of the movie had passed, she used the excuse of going to the bathroom and fled the scene.

The restroom was empty.

Leaning on the bathroom counter, Kimberly stared at her reflection in the mirror: her eyes red, holding back tears. Hazel's sweet and shy laughter was still echoing in her ears, like a sharp knife slashing her heart over and over again.

He didn't seem a bit unwilling, did he?

Scott Robinson, you've really fooled me, haven't you?

Just then, the door of the restroom was pushed open.

Kimberly was immersed in her own feelings; she didn't notice the tall figure standing behind her.

It wasn't until a familiar scent seeped into her nostrils that she realized something was off, and she turned around abruptly!

In an instant, she found herself held tightly, immobilized.

She growled, "What are you doing here? Get out now!"
