Chapter 7 I promise you will be my responsibility

With his arms still wrapped around her waist, he brought his face closer to hers and said,

"I will join you to have fun."

"No..no..that's not necessary. I'm fine. You can drop me off. I will book a room myself."

Logan said nothing. He only held her closely.

"Emmm..emmm," she stuttered thinking of how best to express her discomfort.

"What's the problem?" Logan probed, feigning ignorance.

"This?" he released his hold on her waist and she nodded shyly.

Logan smiled again, leaving Amy wondering the hidden meaning behind those smiles.

"I promised you will be my responsibility. It's only natural I fulfil that. Don't you think so?"

"No, sir. I appreciate everything but I'm fine. You can drop me off here. I will find my way. I don't have to inconvenience you."

She didn't want him to know she was homeless and was looking for a cheap hotel to lay her head.

The initial courage she had, when she thought of asking him for a loan had vanished. Now, she felt very inferior before this great and noble man. He claimed she had saved him eight years ago and he wanted to repay her.

What if she took advantage of his reward and he found out she wasn't the one? She knew she would be severely punished knowing how scary and mean Logan Wayne could be.

"Amy."

Amy turned and looked at him. There was something about the way he called her name. There was something in it that hadn't been there before. She liked the way the name sounded.

"You shouldn't always pretend like you are alright. You can move in with me. I will see to it that you are well taken care of. This way, you won't have to shed tears anymore. You won't have to pretend to be strong. Neither will you have to conceal your tears and emotions."

His words brought back fresh memories to her. She wanted to cry again but she didn't want to do that in front of him.

Suddenly, she was pulled into a man's strong and firm chest and held in a passionate and comforting embrace.

"Cry. Let it all out. I'm here for you. I promise, this will be your last tears."

Hell let loose. Amy cried so much. She had never been comforted all her life. Back in her parents house, she was ill treated and was always left to cry on her own.

When she thought she had found love and a soulmate in Anderson, he didn't want her. All her efforts for three years proved abortive. Not only that, he cheated on her. And wasn't ashamed to admit it. No one had ever shown her love.

She wept for her self, for everything that had been done to her, she regretted every bit of it.

Logan held her tight till she cried to her fill. He didn't mind the fact that she was denting his customized designer shirt worth thousands of dollars! Her tears and watery nose left a wet mark on his cloth but he was comfortable with it.

His driver was perplexed. He had known Logan for many years. Logan hated being touched by people and he hated dirt to the core.

It came as a surprise when his master

asked the woman to enter the car in her dirty dress. Now, he was holding her closely and lending his shoulders for her to cry on.

Soon, the crying woman raised her head and wiped her tears with the back of her hand. Logan pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and offered it to her.

"Here. Wipe your tears."

"Young Master..."

"You can call me Logan."

"Emmm..I prefer to call you young master, sir. I know you have mistaken me for someone. But please, I need your help and will give anything you ask for in return. Please, help me..I have been hurt a lot of times and I also need to find out about my parents. Please, help me. I will do anything you ask of me, as long as it's within my power to do so."

Logan studied her carefully and a smile crawled up on his face again. Then, he opened his mouth and said two words.

"Marry me."

Amy was caught unawares. Her eyes popped out and she quickly covered her mouth with her hands.

Logan reached his hands into his wallet and took out a black card.

"We are here. Go into the hotel and get yourself a room to rest. Here, have my card."

He opened the door and looked at her calmly, indicating she got out. She took the card with trembling fingers. Her heart was pounding from her chest. She stuttered with her words, unable to come up with the right words of appreciation. Before she knew it, the car door was shut and the driver drove off.

Amy went into the hotel and upon presenting the card, she was treated with maximum and extreme respect.

"What kind of room do you want , Miss. We have the ones with a high..."the receptionist began.

"Anyone is okay, please."

"Alright. I have checked you into room 303. It's very comfortable and you will love it. Please, don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything you need. This way, Miss."

Amy was very grateful for Logan's help. She was even served dinner and she had no reason to worry about going to bed on an empty stomach.

Work was uneventful the following day until it was announced that the CEO and his father would be coming over.

Everyone doubled their efforts, each trying to be at his best. No one wanted to be found wanting. Logan Wayne and his father, Patrick Wayne were a difficult pair. A little mistake might cost a lot.

In the midst of all this, Amy started feeling funny inside. She hoped that whatever the problem was would hold on until the CEO and his father left.

About thirty minutes later, the door was opened and the manager came in with the expected visitors.
