Logan glanced at the latest model of the Rolex wristwatch on his wrist and a sigh escaped his firm lips.
It was the day of an interview in one of their subsidiary companies. Over the years, his father had insisted he conducted these interviews himself. This annoyed him to a fault. He wondered why he would sit and conduct an interview when his father could simply employ professionals for that.
With time, he adjusted the setting. He would have professionals do the interview while he will conduct the last and final stage.
As he arrived at the venue that morning with his eyes brewing fire, the interviewers looked at each other and shivers went down their spine.
They knew better than to send any incompetent person in there for a final interview. This made the interview though and a lot of applicants were disqualified.
There was a soft knock on his door and he invited the person in.
"Looks like one person has finally made it through," he muttered.
"Good morning sir..young master Wayne!" the applicant greeted.
Logan stared at her blankly and pointed at the seat in front of him.
But this lady was lost in thought and in Logan's world. He was such a handsome young man and many ladies droll at his sight.
"Hey! Will you keep staring or you came for an interview?"
Gosh! How did she get carried away by his stunning appearance?
"I'm sorry young master," she bowed and sat down.
"In an organisation...." was all the lady heard from Logan.
He had obsidian like eyes that attracted people to him. Was it his jet black hair? Or his long eye lashes? Or his lips? Or his voice?
Gosh! Logan was her dream man. He was just too handsome and she needed to have his image imprinted in her mind. He was even more handsome than his pictures. One didn't always get the privilege to see Logan Wayne or a man as handsome as this. She would take maximum advantage of this time she had!
Three seconds passed and there was no response from her.
Logan looked up from his laptop and realised she was lost in thought and staring at him. He banged the table with his fists, jolting her to reality.
"Get out," he said calmly.
"Please, sir...I am sorry sir. I was..."
"Get out!"
This time, the voice came with authority although it was said calmly. Sadly, it dawned on her that she had lost this interview.
Why was he just too handsome? Now it has cost her a job! Damn him and his perfect appearance!
Thirty five minutes later, there was another knock on the door. As expected, the door opened when he invited the person in.
But...
His hands that were taping away on the keyboard paused. Whoever it was halted at the door. Was it another fellow stunned by his appearance? This was one of the reasons he hated these interviews.
He looked up and saw who it was. A smile appeared on his face for the first time that morning.
"You again?"
Amy was surprised. She hadn't expected to see Logan Wayne there.
"Sit down. Why did you leave the hospital without my knowledge?"
Amy kept quiet as she had no tangible excuse.
She had only wanted to get away from this high class man who claimed to know her. She was certain it was a mistake. She just didn't belong to his level.
"That night, eight years ago, I was on my way back with my grandparents when a terrible accident occurred. When I thought I was going to die, you came to my rescue. But you were shot by an enemy's bullet and you passed out. You lost your memory after the incident. The next time I went to see you, you were nowhere to be found. Thankfully, I had already gathered enough information about you, both medically and otherwise. I searched in vain all those years and found you some weeks ago. I won't lose you this time."
Amy was speechless. She pondered on the man's words but it was ambiguous.
"Don't worry. I will help you remember the things you have forgotten. So, back to business. Let me see the file given to you outside."
Amy presented the file to him with trembling fingers. Logan had a terrifying aura that made people cower in fear around him. Amy wasn't an exception.
Logan asked her one question. She took a deep breath to put herself together. Her answer was marvelous and Logan was impressed.
"The personnel department will process your appointment letter. Congratulations!"
Amy fell on her knees in appreciation.
"Thank you so much sir.."
"Common sweetheart. You don't need to do that."
He pulled out a fancy card from his wallet and gave it to her saying,
"See me during the weekend."
"Okay sir. Thank you sir!"
Amy had only worked for two days when another problem surfaced. Her friend was moving out of the town. That meant she was homeless again. Left with no other option, she decided to go back home.
She entered the house unnoticed. She was about entering the living room when she overheard their conversation. It was between her father and mother.
"I know she's of age, but we can't let her have her inheritance. You must do something, Damian," her mother stated.
"Do what exactly?" came the response.
"What? Are you seriously asking that? Have you forgotten why we took that useless girl in? It was to make sure her parents' wealth became ours! She doesn't know about this and you must make sure she gets no wind of this!"
"I understand you and I share the same thoughts too. The problem is how to make sure she doesn't find out. This is a legal issue and we will be arrested if found wanting."
"Hey! Who are you and what are you doing here?"
It was a maid who caught Amy eavesdropping. She was hired after Amy left the house so she didn't know her.
Amy's parents turned to the door in fear.
Has the intruder heard everything?
