Four nights had passed and Adeolu hasn't had any episode of his nightmares, he was practically begging himself to dream because he wants to check if Kemi theory holds any water but he seems not able to force himself to dream, it comes by itself when it pleases as if it has a mind of his own
Apart from not being able to dream Adeolu was having so much fun at Mr Tunde house, but he was also working really hard, trying to strike a balance between work and play
Kemi as usual was trying every trick in her trick of books to get Adeolu attention, she was making everyday Adeolu spend in the house full of suspense yet intriguing Adeolu wished she could stop but he also he really do enjoy the attention Kemi does show him, you can say he " was caught between a rock and a hard place " trying to choose whether to give in to Kemi advances or to maintain his ground because of Kemi's Dad
Well only time will tell what would happen
Today was the day for the big exam, Mr Tunde have told Adeolu that this will change his life for the better, he will be to attend University since all the expanses will be taken care of by the scholarship program and when he is finally through with schooling it will be easy for him to get a well paying job
Everything just seems smooth and easy as it came out from Mr Tundes mouth but life have thought Adeolu that life is Not A Bed Of Roses
So he was prepared to face the difficult and disappointing time if and when it comes
" ..... So it seems you have been having good dreams of late " Mr Tunde said glancing at Adeolu but still focusing on his driving
" Yes__ and it's so frustrating " Adeolu said cursing the air
" I thought you would be happy that you no longer have does horrible dreams " Mr Tunde said looking perplexed
" yeah am happy that am not having those nightmares... But for the first time in my life I'm reading to face my fears, I want to see what really happened that night, I want to know who my parents where, I also want to know who that black figure that killed them.. " Adeolu said with a measure of anger and sadness
" I understand you my boy, if that was actually your memory, it is a horrible thing to experience, but I want you to clear your mind from such thoughts and focus all your energy in passing this exam, in due time you will figure everything out __ "
" but when will that happen, I need to know if there is anyone out there who loves me and miss me, am tired of being treated like a slave " Adeolu said interrupting Mr Tunde
" I understand you, trust me I really do__ but that's not a fair thing to say, I and my family do love you and you know that " Mr Tunde said smiling
" you know what I mean__"
" we will talk about that some other day but for the mean time let's focus on your exams __ Ahah we are yeah already
Adeolu looked outside the car door, and saw one of the most beautiful structure he had ever seen in his life, it was a gigantic building which was clothed with white paint, it was so huge to be a school Adeolu kept thinking as Mr Tunde drove into the school compound, It was much more beautiful from inside the school compound, well shaped and trimmed flowers, football field, basketball court, and tennis courts. Adeolu was caught in trance as he looked at everything in the school
" Adeolu, Ade__ Oluwa!!!! " Mr Tunde had to scream at him before he could get himself back
" sorry Sir, what is it? " Adeolu said confused
" won't you come out of the car " Mr Tunde said shaking his head
Mr Tunde was already outside the car, and Adeolu soon joined him, there was no sign of students with uniform in the school compound they were all inside there classroom so Adeolu didn't get to see there uniform
Initially they had planned to do the check up in the school, but they changed the venue to a hospital so this was actually the first time of Adeolu seeing the school, he saw some of the people he met in the hospital for the check up, they too came for the scholarship exams
Adeolu greeted Mr Tunde goodbye as he ran to meet with his peers, Mr Tunde waited for him in his car...
" what's up " one of the boy greeted Adeolu
" am cool, you.... "
After an hour and the half Adeolu came out from the hall, he wasn't that happy and Mr Tunde could see it
" what's wrong, why is your face like this? " Mr Tunde asked worriedly
" it's because of the exams " Adeolu said almost crying
" what happened? Was it hard?
What?!! Was it a CBT exam?__ but I didn't know, No one told me " Mr Tunde asked and answered his question by himself
" they said it was in the mail they sent to us, today is the worst day of my life, I didn't know how to operate a computer, I was just looking like a fool " Adeolu said as tears escaped from his eyes
" am so sorry... I never knew that it was going to be done in the system, but didn't you write anything at all " Mr Tunde asked with guilt in his voice
" I did but I don't think it will be enough __ please let's go home " Adeolu said as he faced his head to the car window
The journey home was filled with silence, tears kept dripping down from Adeolu's eyes despite him trying hard to hold it in Mr Tunde could not help but feel guilty for what happened to Adeolu he could only imagine the embarrassment Adeolu most have gone through in the hall, he wanted to say something but he just kept quiet
They finally arrived home and as they entered into the sitting room, Mr Tunde family try to gather around Adeolu to ask him questions about the exam, they all were very excited to hear what happened but Mr Tunde told them not to disturb Adeolu
Adeolu went straight to his room and lay down on his bed, he felt so bad he wished he was dead, he knew a very big opportunity had passed him by and that he might not get another one, he was beginning to dream of schooling in that school but he guessed now he has to face reality....
Mr Tunde faced questioning from his family as they asked him a thousand questions giving him no time to answer
" what happened "
" how was the exam "
" why was Adeolu's face like that "
" did he fall sick "
Mr Tunde head was spinning he didn't know where he should start to explain from
" enough!!!!! __ what is it with all the questions, I came in and all you can do is question me, you can't serve me food " Abi " it's to ask me silly questions " Mr Tunde said unleashing his frustration at his family
" don't be angry my husband, am sorry, I will go get you your food. I wasn't being thoughtful at all " Mrs Tunde said as she stood up to serve Mr Tunde his food
Mr Tunde held her hand back as he looked at her face and that of his children, they looked scared, he hasn't spoken to them like that before
" I'm sorry, I was just frustrated that's all, there is nothing wrong in what you people did... "
" what happened, is everything alright " Mrs Tunde said as she sat down back this time closer to Mr Tunde
" Adeolu didn't do well in his exams and it was my fault " Mr Tunde said bowing his head down in guilt
" how? Why? I mean what happened? " Mrs Tunde asked
" the exam was conducted in CBT and Adeolu didn't know how to operate a system, and in the mail they sent they wrote it there that it was going to be done in CBT but I was too excited that I didn't read that part " Mr Tunde said feeling stupid
" what a poor boy... And he has been reading very hard, hmmmm but I don't think it's your fault, you didn't know " Mrs Tunde said comforting her husband
" let me go and check how Adeolu s doing " Kemi said
" alright, go and do that " Mrs Tunde answered
Kemi knocked on Adeolu's door but no one replied her, so she opened the door and came in herself
She saw Adeolu lying down as he looked lifeless and she slowly walked to him
" Ade__ Daddy told us what happened, and I'm really sorry, I can only imagine how you feel right now, you have read so hard for this exam and that happened I'm so sorry " kemi said as she climbed onto the bed
Adeolu didn't say anything, because he knew any word he says will be followed by tears he didn't want to cry again
Kemi kept trying to comfort Adeolu as she kept saying sweet words to him and playing with the hairs on his head
Adeolu could no longer hold the tears in as cried on Kemi accommodating chest
" it's OK, you will be alright I promise, tomorrow will be a good day and you will forget about today " kemi said as she pet Adeolu's head
She spoke to him for a long time but Adeolu didn't say anything until he fell asleep and Kemi stayed with him there......
As days went by Adeolu was back to his normal self, he had forgotten and accepted what happened during the exam, but he was sad for another reason the two months have passed and now it was time to return back to Mr Femi house, he knew this day will come eventually but he was not yet ready to leave, he knew all the horrors that awaits him in Mr Femi house
" good bye, and take care of yourself, help me and greet Mr Femi and his family " Mrs Tunde said trying to seem happy
but Adeolu could sense she was sad, on one will stay with her in the kitchen when he is gone
" I will do that Ma and I will miss you so much " Adeolu said smiling at her, as they both hugged tightly
" goodbye bro, and when you come back next time, get ready to be beating in video games I'm promising you 5-0 " Yemi said jokingly
" really we have to wait and see " Adeolu said as both of them hugged
" goodbye Ade__ I will miss you so much, promise you will come back " Kemi said crying
" I will miss you too, and I promise to come back " Adeolu said as tears roll down his face
They both hugged tightly but it was time for him to let go
" alright let's be going now " Mr Tunde said
They entered into the car and went on there way to Mr Femi house.
