SOPHIA'S POV.
The next morning, I was already ready with my answer when Lucas sent for me. I ignored all the envious eyes and headed for his office.
This is my second time being at his office and I felt my heart leap at the sight of him seated at his desk in his usual all black suit. His intense grey eyes were fixed on me like he had been expecting me to come in.
He smiled at the sight of me, "I've been waiting for you Sophia." He stood up and went round his desk to my side until he was standing right in front of me. "Do you have my answer?"
I lowered my head bashfully, before having the courage to say, "I've liked you ever since I saw your pictures on the internet some months ago, and I don't know if I'm worthy to be called your girlfriend, but if you want us to be, then I have no reason to say no."
He tilted my head so I can stare into his eyes again, "you made the right choice Sophia." He leaned forward and pecked my lips smiling brightly. My smile mirrored his.
It was too soon and sudden, but I was blinded by my infatuation to notice.
"That's settled then. I am glad that your decision is in my favor, because I have already sent men to move your things from your apartment to the new place I got you."
My eyes widen and I was speechless as I tried to comprehend what he had just said.
"What?!" I exclaimed in shock.
He sighed, pushing a strand of hair behind my ear, "I did not like what I saw yesterday Sophia. That place doesn't look safe for you to live and it also does not fit that the girlfriend of Lucas Sullivan would live in a place like that."
I was in shock. How did he do all these without asking me first? "B-but sir, I wasn't complaining."
"You don't have to complain before I know what you need Sophia. The place I got you is a million times better than your previous apartment. Don't worry, you will like it."
I didn't know what to say as I stood there unsure about the situation. Something doesn't feel right about this.
"S-sir I don't want people to think that I am only after your money. Getting me a new place on the very first day of us dating is kind of too much." I tried to make him understand.
He shook his head at me, "You know you are not after my money and I know it too. Let them talk for all I care. What I do for you, I do it because I want to, and there is no other reason for that." He caress my face lovingly, instantly calming my fears. "Now push those worries aside and go back to work. We are going to see your new place together after work."
I nodded and left his office afterwards. Although my heart was still troubled, but I tried not to think too much about it.
Maybe this is Jesus's way of blessing me. I should be thankful and not doubtful about the situation.
Maybe moving to a new place will not be that bad.
*****
The freaking house was located at the elite part of the city.
Yup you heard right. Lucas got me a freaking house.
It was a white painted bungalow with a wide living room, filled with sleek and expensive furniture. The floors were tiled and the walls painted white.
Lucas gave me a tour of the place. There was a big kitchen already filled up with everything anyone would need in a kitchen, a bathroom, two bedrooms in case of visitors and a basement.
It was bigger that I feared, and now I was honestly having second thoughts about taking it. If the employees at the company hears about this, they will surely think me as a gold digger.
"Sir, isn't this a bit too much?" I asked as we stood outside on the front porch, staring out into the streets.
Lucas sighed, "I have already told you that this is the least of what I am going to do for you Sophia. Stop worrying yourself."
I looked away in distress, "it's just way too expensive for me sir."
"You'll get used to it don't worry," he assured patting my head gently. "Also I want you to stop calling me sir when we're alone like this. I'm your boyfriend now, and I think it's only right that you call me by my name."
I blushed shyly at the thought of saying his name."Yes, it really isn't proper to keep calling my boyfriend 'sir'."
"Good. Try it, call me by my name," he encouraged, watching me expectantly.
With some difficulty, I mumbled, "y-yes Lucas."
"Very good," he praised looking pleased. "From now on, that's what you will call me okay?"
"Okay." I answered and saw him raising a brow at me, and I added, "Lucas" we both smiled at each other.
Our relationship continued in that manner with Lucas doing extravagant things for me, and me being against it but unable to refuse it because of his insistence.
I received more hate and dislike from everyone at the office, but no one had the courage to say anything to my face, because news has spread that I was dating the president, and Lucas couldn't make it more obvious.
He visits my department a lot too often, always searching for me, and it was enough to be considered suspicious. He takes me home in his car everyday after work and brings me to work at times. Sometimes we had lunch together at his office, and it didn't take long for the company to catch on that we were dating.
"What does he like about her anyway?" Girls whispered among themselves, "she is the least most attractive girl in this company. Have you seen the way she dress?"
They would laugh while they insulted me, not knowing that I was listening to their every word. But I chose not to care. Lucas loves me the way I am, so why should I care what they think about me?"
Lucas and I only dated for two weeks when things started to take a different turn in my life.
