Chapter 10 Deceit in the Shadow

Khalid pressed the doorbell button, and after about a minute, the door opened. The Arabic woman, whom Damian recognized as a maid, opened the door.

After the door opened, they all entered and sat in the living room, where Damian found Hanson, Regan, and Lava seated.

"So your journey led here too?" Damian asked.

"Aah, hahaha, yeah, bro," they replied.

They all sat waiting for the Ambassador, who was resting inside. It didn't take long before the door in front of Damian opened, and a tall, chubby woman appeared! When Damian looked at her, he recognized her as Diana. His heart raced.

He wanted to get up and run to her, but he couldn't because he didn't know if the Ambassador would want that to happen in front of the people sitting in the living room.

"How are you?" She greeted them.

"Good, thanks," they all responded.

Ambassador Diana scanned her guests carefully, and then her gaze landed on Damian. She rushed towards him, and they tumbled to the floor.

"Damian, welcome my husband!" Diana exclaimed loudly.

All the young men sitting there were shocked. They couldn't understand what they came to do in Egypt if these two seemed to love each other so much.

They talked a lot about Bentaz, as Diana had sat on Damian's lap, kissing him repeatedly on his face and lips.

Later, everyone was served food, and the conversation continued until about 1 AM midnight when they all began to feel sleepy.

"Damian, come this way to the bedroom and take a rest, my husband!" Diana said, and Damian got up following her, bidding farewell to the others.

"Guys, tomorrow, I think we must together take a visit to Cairo and Egypt in general!"

"No problem, Your Excellency, good night!"

Diana led Damian to her bedroom, where he saw a toddler sleeping on her small bed nearby.

"Sit here, my love. Tonight, we need to talk about everything. Wait here, while I take these guests to the hotel to sleep, I'll be back in a moment!"

"Okay, hurry up, I'll be waiting!"

Diana took them straight to the Palace Hotel, which was of high tourist status, and they entered the room where they sat down to discuss the plans on how to kill Damian.

"Tell us, if there's no work, should we just go back to Bentaz!?"

"Why?"

"How will you be able to kill someone you love so much?"

"Love him? Who do I love? Everything you saw earlier was just an act. I'm trying to deceive him so we can kill him easily!"

"Oh, so what are the plans?"

"Damian must die at the Pyramids of Egypt, where I've planned that we'll go visit with him. There is a large pond there, with fierce crocodiles. Humans are not allowed to swim in that pond. From what I know, Damian loves swimming, so we'll make sure he enters the pond and gets eaten by the crocodiles, not leaving even a single piece of his body part!"

"What if he refuses to swim?"

"We'll push him into the water, but make sure no one sees you pushing him. The job will be done tomorrow."

They finished their conversation, and Diana began her journey back home.

Meanwhile, Damian was lying in bed, feeling great anxiety. He wondered why his heart was filled with so much fear that night.

"I don't know what's wrong, or something bad is going to happen to me?" he thought.

Around two-thirty, the door to his room opened, and Diana entered with a smile on her face.

"Oh! I got a flat tire on my way back, my husband, that's why I'm late."

"It's okay!"

"I love you, Damian."

"I love you too, my wife. I wonder what happened between us, really?" Damian responded, and then they talked about everything. Diana lied, saying that President Daniel had told her that if she refused dating him, he would kill her.

"I had to agree, but now I don't want to do it anymore, I don't even want to hear his name!" Diana said, tears flowing down her face.

"Don't worry, my darling, I've forgiven you! My wife."

"Thank you, Damian!" After that, they embraced and kissed each other on the lips.

"Damian, my husband, come, let me say goodbye to you!"

"Goodbye? What do you mean? I don't understand!"

"You know! I'm just joking, what I want... I want...I want your love, my husband."

Diana didn't seem like she was joking when she spoke about saying goodbye, but she shifted gears, and since Damian missed his wife so much, they found themselves enjoying each other's company and experiencing an incredible pleasure. Throughout this time when they were having intimacy, Damian's mind kept replaying this sentence, "Come, let me say goodbye!" but he ignored it and continued enjoying their moment together.

The next morning, as the sun rose, the love between Damian and Diana had returned, and Damian thanked God that the woman he loved was back under his care after the powerful one tried to take her away. Although deep inside, he still couldn't believe it.

"Diana, was what we talked about last night true, or was I dreaming?"

"Why don't you believe me, Damian? I've decided to come back to you. I don't want President Daniel anymore. I don't love that man. You are the choice of my heart, Damian! You are the one who took me out of the village and brought me to the city. You pampered me until Daniel noticed me." Diana continued to convince Damian with sweet words, and she was good at her choice of words and how to arrange them so that Damian would believe her.

"Thank you so much, Diana."

Diana approached Damian and kissed him on the cheek as a sign of affection. However, this was not the real reflection of Diana's feelings, as deep in her heart, she had no love for Damian whatsoever. She hated him because he was the obstacle to her marriage with President Daniel.

"I must kill Damian!" she thought to herself as she poured tea for Damian.

"I love you, Diana, and I have decided to forget everything that happened, and I will also love Regina as my own daughter because she has done nothing wrong. She is an angel."

"Thank you for that, my love."

At half-past eight, Diana bid Damian farewell to go to the office, where at exactly nine o'clock, she was scheduled to meet with her colleagues Hanson, Regan, and Lava to finalize their plans.

"Wait, I need to take care of some things, but at eleven o'clock, I will send the driver to come pick you up and bring you to the office so we can plan the schedule for showing you around Cairo. I think by then, the three businessmen you traveled with will be in the office."

"Are those guys businessmen?"

"Yes, they are involved in the mining business!"

"Ah, okay."

"See you later, my love."

Damian looked at Diana for a long time. He smiled as Diana had returned to his life.

"Asia!" Diana called out before leaving the house.

"Yes, Mom!" A girl from a nearby room responded.

"Take great care of Regina, OK?"

"No problem, Mom, I will."

The girl answered, and Damian understood without being told that she was a house maid

"Have a Good day at work, Darling!"

"Okay, love, you'll join me in the office at eleven, right?"

"No problem, will the driver come pick me up?"

"Yes!"

Before getting into the car, Diana looked at Damian for a long time, and tears welled up in her eyes, which Damian noticed.

Damian smiled at her, thinking that Diana was probably teary because of him.

Without knowing what made Diana cry, it was a pity; she felt sorry for Damian because she knew what lay ahead of him.

The entire way to work, Diana reflected on Damian's kindness in her life. She knew that without him, she wouldn't have gotten the embassy job, but there was nothing she could do to help him. Water had reached on her neck, as President Daniel had already killed his ex-wife, and now it was her turn to kill Damian so that they could get married.

"I don't care what he did to me. HE MUST DIE!" Diana said aloud without realizing it.

"Who?, who is supposed to die, Ma'am?" her driver, Khalid, asked in surprise.
