Chapter 4 Midnight Ambush

Lyra's eyes scanned the darkness, her senses on high alert. The rustling of leaves had stopped, replaced by an oppressive silence. She could feel eyes upon her, boring into her skin. Kael's voice was barely audible. "Stay close." Lyra nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. She crept forward, her paws making barely a sound on the forest floor. Kael moved beside her, his eyes fixed on the shadows. Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness. Lyra's hackles rose as she recognized the scent - Thorne's pack. The newcomer was a burly werewolf, his eyes glowing with a feral light.

"Well, well, well," he sneered, his voice dripping with malice. "Look what we have here. The little alpha, all alone and vulnerable." Lyra's growl was low and deadly. "I'm not alone," she said, her eyes flashing with anger. The werewolf's gaze flicked to Kael, and his expression darkened. "And who's this? Your new playmate?" Kael's eyes narrowed, his voice cold. "I'm someone you don't want to mess with." The werewolf snarled, baring his teeth. "We'll see about that." With a fierce battle cry, he launched himself at Lyra and Kael. The night erupted into a chaos of snarls, growls, and snapping jaws as the three combatants clashed. Lyra fought with every ounce of strength she possessed, but the werewolf was a formidable opponent. Just when it seemed like the tide was turning in his favor, Kael intervened, his movements swift and deadly. Together, Lyra and Kael managed to overpower the werewolf, pinning him to the ground. Lyra's chest heaved with exertion as she glared at her defeated foe. "Why did you attack us?" she demanded. The werewolf's eyes gleamed with malice. "Thorne's orders," he spat. "You're a threat to his power, Lyra. And he'll stop at nothing to eliminate you." Lyra's heart sank, her mind racing with the implications. She knew that Thorne would not rest until he had destroyed her and her pack. But with Kael by her side, she felt a glimmer of hope. Together, they could face whatever dangers lay ahead.
