Chapter 27 The First Trial

The Guardian's eyes seemed to bore into Lyra's soul. "The first trial is the Trial of Courage," she said, her voice low and hypnotic. "You must face your deepest fear, and overcome it." Lyra felt a shiver run down her spine. She had always been afraid of the dark, of being trapped and helpless. What would the Guardian conjure up to test her courage
