Chapter 9 A Pact in Blood

Ethan leaned against the car, arms crossed as he studied Sienna. "We need to be smart about this."

Sienna scoffed. "Smart? Ethan, we're going after one of the most powerful men in the country. There is no 'smart' way to do this."

"There is if we want to live long enough to see it through."

She rolled her eyes, but there was an edge of exhaustion behind it. "Fine. What's the plan, then?"

Ethan exhaled slowly. "First, we need information. Proof that Langley isn't just involved but running this operation. Second, we need allies."

Sienna gave him a sharp look. "You mean your old contacts?"

Ethan didn't answer right away. Once upon a time, he had access to the city's elite-powerful people who owed him favors. But since Sienna left, he had burned more bridges than he cared to count. He wasn't sure how many would still stand.

"Some of them," he admitted. "The ones who haven't sold their souls to Langley."

Sienna ran a hand through her hair, exhaling. "And after that?"

Ethan's expression darkened. "Then we take him apart. Piece by piece."

Silence stretched between them.

This wasn't just about revenge anymore. It was war.

Sienna watched him carefully. "You don't have to do this, Ethan."

His jaw clenched. "I do."

Because Langley had manipulated them. He had destroyed their marriage, their lives. And Ethan wasn't going to let that go unanswered.

Sienna studied him for a moment longer, then nodded.

"Alright," she said. "Then we start tonight."

Ethan arched a brow. "Doing what?"

A slow, dangerous smile curled on her lips. "Breaking into Langley's office."

Ethan let out a dry laugh. "You really don't waste time, do you?"

"Not when it comes to revenge."

Ethan shook his head, but he couldn't help the smirk tugging at his lips. Same old Sienna.

Only this time, they weren't just fighting each other.

This time, they were fighting together.
