Chapter 8 The Name That Changes Everything

Ethan pulled the car into an underground parking lot, killing the engine. The city above buzzed with life, but down here, it was eerily silent.

He turned to Sienna. "Who?"

She hesitated, her fingers tightening into fists in her lap. For a second, he thought she wouldn't answer. That she'd keep holding onto whatever truth she had uncovered.

But then, she spoke.

"Richard Langley."

Ethan's blood went ice cold.

He leaned back against the driver's seat, staring at her like she'd just spoken a death sentence. Because in a way, she had.

Richard Langley wasn't just some criminal. He was a kingmaker. A billionaire, a philanthropist in the public eye-but behind closed doors, he was the unseen hand that moved the city's power players. The Kings' biggest investor.

And the man Ethan once considered a mentor.

"That's impossible," Ethan said, shaking his head. "Langley doesn't get his hands dirty."

Sienna let out a humorless laugh. "That's what I thought too. Until I found out why he wanted me gone."

Ethan swallowed hard. He had known Langley for years, worked alongside him, built his career under his guidance. If what Sienna was saying was true, then he had been standing in the shadows of a monster without ever realizing it.

"You have proof?" Ethan asked, his voice dangerously low.

Sienna's expression hardened. "Not yet. But I will."

Ethan exhaled through his nose, trying to process it. Langley was powerful. If he was involved with the Kings, taking him down wasn't just dangerous-it was suicidal.

"You're going after him." It wasn't a question.

Sienna's eyes burned with something fierce. "I don't have a choice. He took everything from me. And now, I'm going to return the favor."

Ethan studied her. This wasn't the woman he had married. The Sienna he knew was reckless, but she had never been this cold, this sharp-edged.

And yet, a part of him understood.

Because if Langley had destroyed his life the way he had destroyed hers, Ethan would want revenge too.

"Then I'm in," he said.

Sienna blinked, as if she hadn't expected him to say it so easily. "Ethan-"

"I'm in," he repeated, firmer this time. "If Langley is behind this, we're not taking him down alone. We need a plan. Resources. People we can trust."

Sienna hesitated, like she wanted to argue. But then she nodded. "Agreed."

Ethan cracked his knuckles.

Langley thought he was untouchable.

He was about to learn just how wrong he was.
