Chapter 1 The Bitter Reality

That afternoon, Vanessa Hamilton wanted to surprise her husband by going to the office where he worked.

The plan was to surprise her husband with a lunch together, as she knew he didn't have an appointment this afternoon.

When she arrived at the door of her husband's office, Vanessa did not see Vera, her sister, who doubles as her husband's secretary. Without hesitation, Vanessa grabbed the door knob and wanted to open the big wooden door.

But before she could push the door open, she suddenly heard strange noises coming from inside the room.

Vanessa immediately put her ear to the door and in that position she could hear a woman's sigh accompanied by the sounds of a married couple engaging in sexual activity.

Vanessa was no fool not to know what was going on in the room where her husband's office was.

"What?" George Hamilton, her father, was furious when he heard what his daughter had said. Vanessa who came home immediately reported what had happened at James' office.

James and Vera also went back to the Hamilton house and found that Vanessa had arrived there and reported them.

James immediately approached his wife and tried to persuade her.

"It's really not what you imagined, Vanessa dear!" James said, trying to defend himself.

"I was under the influence of the stimulant my colleague gave me earlier, and Vera was just trying to help."

"What nonsense are you talking about?" said George as he slapped James and Vera at the same time.

Meanwhile, Jennifer, Vanessa and Vera's mother, was crying over Vanessa and hugging her tightly.

The middle-aged woman never thought that Vera would do something like that to her own sister.

George also did not hesitate to slap Vera who had become a harlot in Vanessa's household.

"Why did you hit me?" Vera looked at her father with great anger. She had never been scolded by her mother's father but now she was being scolded and even slapped in front of Vanessa.

She really hated Vanessa for taking all the affection from her mother and father.

"What you did was disgusting! Your mom and dad never taught you to be such a traitor. Not only did you hurt your sister, but you also hurt us, your parents."

George wanted to give his daughter the understanding to know that what she was doing was wrong!

But Vera just looked at her father angrily, her face as if she was scorning him.

Then she replied sarcastically too, "She is not my sister! You're all liars! I'm your biological daughter, but why are you defending the adopted child?"

Vanessa, who was in her mother's arms, immediately pulled away from Jennifer's embrace. The woman was very surprised by what she heard from Vera's mouth, the statement that she was not George and Jennifer's biological daughter made her curious.

"Is it true what Vera said, mom?" her eyes looked at Jennifer urging her mother to tell the truth.

Jennifer could only look at George and hope that her husband would explain to his daughters the truth.

The father who had been standing, immediately sat down with a limp as he realized that their secret that he had kept for years and even decades had to be revealed on this fateful day.

Just by looking at her father's expression and face, Vanessa knew that what Vera had said was true!

The world was shattered in Vanessa's eyes, on this day she learned of the betrayal of those closest to her. And on this day, she knew the truth that she was not the daughter of the Hamilton family.
