Chapter 4 4. Marriage Contract

Hans could pat his forehead hard, as he felt that his life would be much more difficult now.

Dealing with his mother was much more difficult than dealing with business and the president of the country.

Hans had to find a way for himself to solve his problems.

He looked up at the glass window where Vanessa and Devan were working together to complete their office tasks.

Suddenly, he came up with a ridiculous idea. He quickly dialed his assistant's number and called him.

Devan immediately picked up the phone call from his boss and listened to his boss' orders.

"You investigate the woman named Vanessa immediately and I want the file in within 30 minutes from now!" Without saying anything else, Hans hung up the phone call.

Outside the room Devan immediately looked at his cell phone that had been turned off unilaterally. Then he walked away from Vanessa to do the task assigned to him.

Less than 15 minutes had passed, he was already carrying Vanessa's files and heading straight to his boss' office to give the file for him.

Hans immediately accepted the files shown to him and scrutinized each one.

"Hmm, so she's someone's wife?" Hans frowned as he didn't seem to accept that Vanessa was married.

"Call her here!"

Vanessa came immediately when called by her boss because she didn't want him to wait too long.

"Are you married? "Hans asked Vanessa this question straight to the point.

Vanessa immediately shook her head and said, "I am filing divorce proceedings with my husband because he was caught having an affair with my own adopted sister, Sir!"

"Hmm, in that case, you have to sign a new contract letter," Hans said after thinking for a moment.

"Hmm, what contract?"

"Marriage contract!"

Vanessa widened her eyes as if she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her boss wanted to marry her? But her position was that she was not yet divorced from her husband? And the boss don't ask it with an intimate or romantic way. His expression remained flat and cold, so Vanessa couldn't believe the request.

"Sir, are you kidding me?" Vanessa looked at her boss in confusion.

But the man's face remained flat and expressionless. Vanessa was confused as to whether he was actually proposing to her or was he joking? As her boss remained silent, Vanessa said...

"But... I... haven't..." Vanessa stammered out her refusal. Her experience of being married to James, whose words were sweet and romantic, just didn't work.

What would happen if she married an expressionless man like this? She didn't want to fall into the same hole.

But before all that happened, suddenly her cell phone rang and it was a phone call from James.

Hans raised his eyebrows and didn't like his private conversation being interrupted like that.

"Um, this is my ex-husband..." Vanessa had no intention of picking up James' call either so she turned off the call.

"I am offering you a contract with a win win solution, I will help you to speed up the divorce process and also protect you from your ex-husband. But on the other hand you also have to help me, so that I am not always chased by my family to marry a woman that I hate. How's that?"

Oh, so the boss wants to avoid pressure from his family who wants him to marry a woman of his boss' family's choice.

Hmm, actually the boss' offer was very tempting for Vanessa who was tired of always being associated with James and Vera.

Vanessa also doesn't want to have anything to do with her adoptive family because it could potentially trigger Vera's hatred for her even more.

Vanessa just wanted a quiet life away from the people who had hurt her in the past.

Vanessa also thinks this is just a work contract, so there are no feelings involved. Maybe this could be a solution for her to move on quickly.

After thinking for a few minutes, Vanessa made an impulsive move by nodding her head and saying, "Okay! I do!"

This was not a marriage proposal because the two loved each other, but a mutually beneficial employment contract.

"Good!"Hans immediately raised his lips slightly, indicating that he was happy that Vanessa could make him achieve his true goal.

Hans immediately told Devan to contact the company lawyer, who was his confidant, to draw up a marriage contract between him and Vanessa.

Perhaps because Vanessa was too impulsive in wanting to be free from her ex-husband and her adopted sister, she quickly signed the contract without looking at the clauses that might one day incriminate her.

She only knew that the contract was favorable to her and that she was getting a sizable salary that was 10 times her current salary as a secretary. She would also get a monthly bonus, which she would get as the "wife" of Hans Anderson, a CEO, a rich heir, and the most powerful man in the country.

"Wow!" In just one day she had already earned 20 times the salary of her original job, not including bonuses and allowances.

"Well, since you have signed the contract. This means that you have agreed that we will have a wedding soon. Oh yes, as a basis for you later when you meet my mother, you must say that we had one night stand because I forced you to, and now you are pregnant." Hans said all the information in a flat tone, as if the information would not surprise the other person.

Vanessa was immediately shocked and shouted loudly, "What?"

The woman glared at her boss' nonsensical information.

"Just like the information I gave you earlier, I don't want to marry the woman who was set up with me. You don't need to know the reason, most importantly, I told my mother that I had gotten a woman pregnant. The intention was to get my mother to cancel my engagement to that woman. But now my mom wants me to marry the woman I impregnated. So the roleplay you have to play is as a pregnant woman, my lover, and we will get married soon!" Hans said all this in a lighthearted tone.

Now Vanessa knew why her salary was 20 times higher, because she had to be an actress pretending to be pregnant.

Oh my, how can this be? I am not pregnant yet, Vanessa is confused about what she should do.

"But.. but .... Boss! If a pregnant person's stomach gets bigger all the time, but mine doesn't get bigger because I'm not pregnant!"
