Chapter 5 Unseen Boundary

Sophia was standing at that spot as her body was visibly shaking. Inside her head, she wanted to run, but then she could not control her body to move an inch.

It was as if she was frozen at that sport and the only thing she wanted to do was disappear.

The footsteps kept coming closer and closer until they finally stopped. When the footsteps stopped, Sophia expected that the kitchen door was going to open and whatever beast was behind it was going to devour her, but strangely, the door did not open.

Sophia waited, but the door never opened, and the sound had completely stopped for over five minutes.

She instantly began to think about if it was all in her head, if it had happened, and she was hearing things from the kitchen. She slowly took some steps closer to the door and touched the door handle, thinking that if she did, whatever she was in there, she was going to respond to her touch with this t. This round when s, when he touched the handle of the door, there was no response from whatever she thought was inside.

" Oh please, Sophia, do not tell me that this is all in your head", she lamented to herself.

She took a deep breath and let out a sigh before turning the door handle and opening the kitchen door. She still did not trust that nothing was in there, and it was all in her head, and she stood behind the door peeping around the kitchen. It was when she saw that nothing was there really that she walked in and closed the door behind her.

She went to the corner where she had hidden the liquor and took it out. She turned and stood there for a while, glancing around the kitchen to be sure that nothing was there.

When she left the kitchen, she went to the living room and took out a glass, placing it on the table. She was feeling overwhelmed at the moment and just wanted something that was going to make her feel a little comfortable.

Slowly she began to pour herself some drink and was gulping down every content of the glass she measured.

Before she knew it, she was gradually getting drunk, and it was late into the night. The urge to keep drinking was there, but she knew that she needed to put the bottle aside.

She helped herself off the couch and carried the bottle and the glass in both hands, but she turned around to take it back to the kitchen. She saw something like a shadow pass by the kitchen door in a flash.

She tightened her grip on the glass and the bottle to stop them from falling as she stepped back a bit. She stood there for a while staring at the same spot where she had seen the shadow, hoping that maybe it would come out and face her, but nothing was coming out.

Sophia waited for a while there in the living room space before summoning the courage to walk over to the kitchen with the bottle in her hand.

She finally realized it when she successfully dropped the wine and glass and returned to her room to lie on her bed.

The alcohol from the liquor had intoxicated her a bit and was slowly messing with her mind.

She was waiting for sleep to finally take over, but then, just as she closed her eyes to sleep, she felt like she had seen something on the balcony that was just outside her bedroom.

It looked quite dark, and she wondered what it must be. The strength to stand up from the bed was not in him, and she slowly looked away from it.

She turned on her side to the bed and rested her head on the soft pillow before dozing off almost immediately.

Meanwhile, outside her balcony stood Mr Smith. For some strange reason, he could not enter her room and could only operate from the outside. He stood staring at her as she slept, but there was nothing he could do.

He had failed in the mission of bringing her to work with the order and would have to report that failure to the Supreme.

The Supreme hated failures, and the fact that he had failed in this mission, which was considered a simple one because Sophia was a harmless person, was only going to make his punishments for that failure worse.

Anger burned within him as he stood out there, knowing that there was nothing he could do. He had his chances of getting her to come into the order, but something had come to save her, and he wondered what it was.

When Sophia was saved, he lifted his attention from Sophia and wanted to find what it was that saved her. That he could not get to return on time, and by the time he returned, Sophia was already far gone.

The fact that she had followed his instructions to come to meet him that night without any company showed how naive she was, but then he could not understand the sole reason he had invited her out.

" She was not supposed to be so difficult to invite. I was almost done with this mission, but then you silly little thing slipped away. How do I go back to report this failure?" he asked himself to recommend, as he said asked her.

He had supreme powers that were given to him by the supreme, but because of the connection that Sophia had with the order, there was no way he could just bring her in like he would to any other person.

He had to be careful when dealing with Sophia as she was a very important asset to the order and was to be brought to them without harm.

" I will not report until I get you, and I promise you it will be sooner than you think," he said to Sophia, even though he knew that she could not hear him.
