CHAPTER FIVE

Alpha Adonis gazed at her as she felt unease at his response, and watched her leave feeling down and rejected but covered the rejection with a smile.

He felt a mixture of curiosity and unease growing.

There was something about Annabella that caught him off guard and made him feel curious.

She had this determination and boldness he had never seen in her and never for once dreamt of seeing it in her.

He couldn't help but admire her boldness.

As she left his office, Easton, Adonis' Beta came inside the office almost immediately.

"Is.... Isn't that Annabella Monroe, Alpha David's daughter?'' He questioned.

"She's the one." Alpha Adonis said, placing his index finger on his lip, gazing at Easton.

" Why is she in this Pack? Don't tell me you want to have an affair with her when your fiance is her sister, Blanche."

" I'm not a skirt chaser, Easton and why do you care? Mind your business and why are you here in the first place?" He started with a cold demeanor.

" I'm sorry, Alpha. You have a meeting with the board members which will commence soon."

" We have important issues to tackle."

Alpha Adonis uttered, glancing at the stack of papers on his desk.

" Okay sir, the board members are eager to discuss the company's expansion plan, and you have charity to do at an orphanage home too, and after that, the Pack's elders want to discuss with you concerning your marriage with Blanche."

Alpha Adonis nodded, as he caressed his lip again.

" Make the report ready for the meeting and I hate mistakes. " he said, emphasizing the word 'Mistake'.

He hates mistakes and couldn't afford to make one

As they discuss his schedule, Beta Easton could notice him caressing his lip which he does anytime he feels bothered or uneasy.

He began to wonder what he discussed with Annabella that was bothering his mind.

What transpired between them before he arrived?

After a few minutes, Alpha Adonis and Beta Easton headed to the board room.

The board members were gathered in the room already to discuss the plan of AK Corporation.

Adonis took a seat at the head of the table, his presence alone commanded the attention of everyone in the room.

The meeting began and Beta Easton started with the overview of the company's current stand, images of graphs, and figures expatiate more on his words. As the meeting progressed, Alpha Adonis took over from Easton and as the meeting progressed, the discussion topic moved to the expansion of the company's plans.

After what felt like an eternity, the meeting came to an end.

The board members trooped out with a smile of satisfaction and relief on their faces.

Alpha Adonis leaned on the chair, letting out a deep breath.

" Schedule the charity for the next hour," he ordered and Easton nodded.

" The meeting went well," Easton stated, and Adonis just nodded.

"Let's go."

Easton gathered the relevant documents and opened the glass door for Alpha Adonis as they left the boardroom heading back to his office.

" It seems you have a lot going through your mind."

Easton uttered, studying his face to see an unreadable look.

" That's why I hate making mistakes in everything I do."

Alpha Adonis and Easton entered the office, surprised to find Blanche waiting for them.

Her face lit up upon seeing Alpha Adonis, and she eagerly approached him, wrapping her arms around him in a tight embrace.

Keeping his cold demeanor, he gently shifted himself from her grasp.

Turning to Easton, he asked, "Could you give us a moment?"

Easton nodded and left the room, leaving Adonis and Blanche alone.

Blanche's demeanor turned serious, yet her bubbly nature still shone through as she took a seat in front of Alpha Adonis's desk.

" We need to talk about our relationship," she began. " I think it's time we take the next step."

Alpha Adonis raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued despite himself.

" And what step would that be?"

Blanche's eyes sparkled with anticipation.

'' I want us to get married before my sister does," she declared.

" It would be perfect, don't you think?" She asked.

Her words rang in his head as his thoughts drifted to Annabella and the offer he had rejected earlier.

Something was refreshing about her, a determination he found intriguing.

She had this determination he never saw in her the other day he bumped into her.

It was as if she changed herself.

Alpha Adonis's relationship with Blanche had always been driven by her enthusiasm, but the truth was, he had never loved her.

He had entered the relationship because his mother had forced him to get engaged to Blanche since she was a close friend of Luna Mary.

Deciding it was time to shift the conversation away from marriage, Alpha Adonis spoke up.

" Blanche, we need to talk about this relationship. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I don't think we're on the same page."

He uttered, and she tried cutting him off as if she knew what he was about to say because she wasn't ready to hear his next words.

" I don't think this relationship is working out, so it's time to call it quits. Play with the media however you like."

He said, giving her a chance to claim she was a victim in the relationship.

Blanche's face fell, disappointment evident in her eyes.

" But I thought we were in love already," she said, her voice tinged with hurt.

Alpha Adonis sighed, knowing he was about to experience a cringe attitude from her.

" I have never been in love with you. Our relationship started because our parents forced it on us, and now I think it's time for us to go our separate ways." He stated honestly.

"Adonis,"

" You can use the door," He uttered, without glancing at her.

She hurriedly took her bag and went out.

Easton came in as she went out.

" Alpha, wh..."

" Get me Annabella's info" He ordered.

" Alpha, hope no problem?"

" I'm going to marry Annabella Monroe." Easton lost his balance as bewilderment washed over him.
