Chapter 4 Bold moves

CHAPTER FOUR

The following morning, Annabella woke up feeling refreshed and anxious. Today she was going to decide for herself for the very first time by meeting Alpha Adonis Kensington in his Pack, all by herself.

Annabella got off the bed and had her bath then got dressed.

After dressing, she stepped out of the room holding onto her bag and cellphone.

She got downstairs and Blanche's voice made her halt.

" Are you going to have breakfast or are you mad at Mom for shouting at you yesterday?"

" Let her be mad, she's an ungrateful person." Luna Mary spat out, and Annabella glanced at her before leaving the house.

She got outside and flagged down a taxi heading to Adonis's company.

She got her mind occupied with what she intended to tell him.

Annabella felt a sense of confidence and anxiety growing as she started sighing nonstop. She believed Alpha Adonis wouldn't be able to resist the offer she would table down in front of him.

The driver's voice cut through her thoughts, informing her that he had arrived at her destination.

Annabella hopped out of the vehicle and paid him as she went into the company.

She approached the security men and asked about the location of the CEO which they directed her to.

Everyone she came across while heading to Alpha Adonis's office bowed their heads in acknowledgment to her, maybe because she was their future Luna's older sister.

She boarded an elevator to his office.

As she approached the CEO's office she met a front desk with an unfamiliar person.

The lady gave Annabella a cold and unwelcoming look which made her feel uneasy.

" Good day, ma'am"

" Good day, I'm here to see Alpha Adonis Kensington," Annabella said, and Hanna nodded at her words.

" Did you book an appointment?"

" No, but please tell him, I need to see him. It's very important, I'm Annabella Monroe, please tell him my name."

Annabella pleaded and Hanna eyed her before clearing her throat.

" I hope he agrees to see you. Wait here, I'll be right back."

Annabella watched her leave and waited patiently for her to come back with a positive response.

She paced around, rubbing her hands to calm herself down and after what felt like an eternity, Hanna returned.

" He would like to see you"

Hanna's tone changed from a friendly tone to an unwelcoming tone matching the unwelcoming look she had been giving her ever since she arrived.

" Thank you."

Annabella went inside his spacious office.

It is extremely neat except for his desk and center table which was messed up with papers which defines his busy life.

She took a seat on the couch and arranged the scattered papers in the center before holding onto her bag.

She had never met him in her past life so she couldn't tell his personality, but she had hoped he would be a warm person.

Alpha Adonis appeared in front of her, his presence commanding and intense, causing Annabella to flinch.

" You scared me!"

His eyes locked with hers, and she could see a hint of curiosity mixed with a cold, businesslike demeanor.

" You came to see me in my office so what is the important thing you have to say?"

" Marry me."

Annabella blurted out and he arched his eyebrow, taken aback by her bold moves.

He had known her to be a timid person with her head buried down but then, she was looking at him in the eyes, looking different from the Annabella he had met yesterday.

He raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback by her bold statement/

'' Are you okay? Do you realize that your supposed fiancé is an Alpha of a Pack and also an alliance of mine? Moreover, you're carrying his child."

Annabella nodded, " I've already called off my engagement, and I won't let my future be ruined. I believe that marrying you is the right choice for me." She uttered.

" And, I'm not carrying his child. I'm not pregnant, I was mistaken." She added.

In her past life, she had thought she was pregnant for Alpha Deaton after three and half years.

Alpha Adonis studied her for a moment, his gaze piercing.

" What makes you think marrying me won't affect your future? What do you know about me, other than the fact that I'm the Alpha of Shadonis Pack?"

Annabella could feel her heart racing, but she refused to back down.

" I know that you're a powerful and influential man and that you have the means to help me. I'm not asking for a fairy tale romance or a happily ever after. I'm asking for a chance to take control of my life and escape the future that's been forced upon me." She said,

Alpha Adonis leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful.

" What do I get out of this arrangement? Why should I agree to marry a woman I barely know?"

Annabella thought quickly, knowing she had to offer him something of value.

" I might not be a wealthy businesswoman or a powerful executive, but I'm smart, determined, and loyal. I can be an asset to you, both personally and professionally. All I ask is for a chance to prove myself." She stated, searching his eyes for an emotion but she could only see those cold eyes.

As the words hung in the air between them, Annabella could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on her.

Her future hinged on his decision, and she could only hope that he would see the potential in her proposal.

Alpha Adonis continued to study her, his expression remaining unreadable. He tapped his fingers on the desk, his mind working through her proposal.

"I'm a busy man, with a lot of responsibilities. Marrying you would be a major distraction, and I'm about to get engaged to your sister" he said, his tone blunt.

Annabella met his gaze, her determination still firm.

" I know that you are engaged to my sister but I still want to marry you, and I wouldn't expect to be a burden. I'm capable of handling myself, and I wouldn't demand more of your time than you're willing to give," She explained.

He raised an eyebrow, his skepticism still apparent. " And what about your family? They won't approve of this arrangement."

She took a deep breath, her eyes clouding with emotion for a moment before she regained her composure.

" My family's approval is not my concern. This is my decision to make, and I'm prepared to face any consequences that come with it." She stated, flatly.

He leaned forward, his expression intense.

" You sound very sure of yourself, but have you considered the possibility that this decision could come with serious repercussions? You could damage your relationship with your family, get banished from your Pack, and jeopardize any future opportunities." Annabel nodded.

After a tense exchange of stares, He leaned back in his chair, his demeanor unchanged.

" I appreciate your proposal, but I'm afraid I must reject your offer," he said, his voice even and direct.

" This arrangement would not be beneficial for me, and I'm not interested in pursuing it further."

Annabella felt her jaw dropping as those words dripped out of his mouth.

" Did he just reject me? Why?"
