Chapter 3 An Unexpected Invitation

Jason chuckled. "Oh, right, I probably should have mentioned that. My dad, Michael, he's the CEO of one of the biggest tech companies in the city. We're... well, we're kind of a big deal around here."

Liam's jaw dropped in disbelief. "The CEO of a tech company? Wow, I had no idea. Are you sure it's okay for me to come to your house? I don't want to intrude on your family's privacy."

Jason waved his hand dismissively. "Trust me, it's no problem. My dad insists, and he's not the kind of guy you say no to." He grinned. "Plus, I think he's taken a liking to you. So, what do you say? Dinner at the Anderson mansion tonight?"

Liam hesitated for a moment, his mind racing. This was a far cry from the world he was used to, but the thought of a warm meal and friendly company was enticing. Finally, he nodded. "Alright, I'll come. Thank you, Jason. I really appreciate this."

Jason beamed. "Awesome! I'll let my dad know. He'll be thrilled. Just be ready to be wowed – our place is pretty impressive."

Liam chuckled, a sense of nervous anticipation building within him. As he followed Jason out of the hospital, he couldn't help but wonder what this unexpected invitation had in store for him.

Jason gave him their house address and as he was finally discharged from the hospital, Jason carried him to his apartment, and later zoomed off.

it was about 9pm in the evening Liam stood nervously in front of the towering gates of the Anderson mansion, his worn jeans and old polo shirt feeling out of place in the upscale neighborhood. He double-checked the address Jason had given him, his heart racing with a mix of anticipation and trepidation.

"This is it," he muttered, taking a deep breath before pressing the intercom button.

A few moments later, a voice crackled through the speaker. "Anderson residence, how may I help you?"

"Uh, hi, my name is Liam. Jason invited me for dinner tonight," he replied, trying to sound confident.

"Ah, yes, Mr. Liam. Please, come in," the voice responded, and the gates swung open before him.

Liam made his way up the long, winding driveway, his eyes widening as he took in the grandeur of the Anderson family's estate. The sprawling mansion stood tall, its elegant architecture a testament to the wealth and influence of its owners.

As he approached the front door, it swung open, and Jason greeted him with a warm smile. "Liam! I'm so glad you could make it. Come on in, my dad's been looking forward to meeting you."

Liam stepped inside, feeling slightly out of place as he took in the lavish surroundings. "This place is incredible, Jason. I... I don't know what to say."

Jason chuckled, "Wait until you see the rest of it. Come on, let me introduce you to my dad."

He led Liam through the opulent foyer and into a spacious living room, where a well-dressed man stood waiting. "Dad, this is Liam. Liam, this is my father, Michael Anderson."

Michael approached Liam, a warm smile on his face. "Liam, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. I'm so glad you could join us for dinner tonight."

Liam extended his hand, trying to appear confident. "The pleasure is all mine, Mr. Anderson. Thank you for inviting me into your home."

Michael grasped Liam's hand firmly. "Please, call me Michael. And don't be so formal – we're just a regular family here."

Liam nodded, feeling a little more at ease. "Thank you, Michael. I really appreciate your hospitality."

Suddenly, a voice called out from the top of the grand staircase. "Dad, Jason, who's that?"

Liam turned to see a young woman descending the stairs, her eyes locked on him with a curious expression.

"Ah, Lily, come meet our guest," Michael said, gesturing to Liam. "This is Liam, the young man Jason told you about."

Lily approached Liam, a coy smile on her lips. "It's nice to meet you, Liam. I must say, you're not quite what I expected."

Liam felt a slight flush creep up his neck. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Lily. I hope I'm not intruding on your family's evening."

"Not at all," Lily purred, her gaze lingering on Liam. "In fact, I think this is going to be a very interesting night."

Unbeknownst to Liam, a pair of eyes watched the interaction from the shadows, a devious plan taking shape.

As Liam stood in the lavish Anderson living room, he couldn't help but feel slightly out of place. Suddenly, another figure emerged from the hallway, eyeing Liam with a cool, appraising gaze.

"And who might this be?" the young man asked, his tone laced with disdain.

That was Alex the step brother to Jason, he could recognize Liam as he was with Dominic his friend on the hotel the previous time Liam was humiliated.

Michael turned to the newcomer, a hint of a sigh escaping his lips. "Ah, Alex, there you are. This is Liam, the young man I told you about."

Alex's brow furrowed as he glanced between Liam and his family members. "This... Liam?" He emphasized the name with a sneer. "What's he doing here?"

Jason stepped forward, placing a hand on Liam's shoulder. "Liam was in an accident, Alex. I hit him with my car, and Dad wanted to make sure he was taken care of."

Alex's lips twisted into a sardonic smile. "How... noble of you. But I can't help but wonder, what exactly qualifies this delivery boy to be invited into our home?"

Liam felt his hackles rise at the derogatory tone, but he forced himself to remain calm. "I'm sorry if my presence is an imposition, Alex. I can leave if-"

"No, no, please stay," Lily interjected, her eyes gleaming with a mischievous intent. "We're all family here, and we should welcome our guests with open arms."

Alex's gaze narrowed as he studied Liam, his mind clearly working overtime. "Of course, Lily. We wouldn't want our guest to feel unwelcome."

Liam couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that was slowly building in the pit of his stomach. There was something about the way Alex and Lily were looking at him that set him on edge.

As the group made their way to the dining room, Liam couldn't help but overhear a hushed conversation between Alex and a figure hidden in the shadows.

"Are you sure you can pull this off?" Alex murmured, his voice laced with a hint of trepidation.

"Trust me, little brother," a familiar voice responded, "by the time I'm done, that delivery boy will be out of our lives for good."

Liam's blood ran cold as he recognized the voice – it was Dominic, the man who had so cruelly humiliated him at the hotel. Suddenly, the pieces began to fall into place, and Liam realized he might be walking into a trap.
