Chapter 5 Five

After Debora finished feeding her nephew breakfast, she brought her brother's baby back into the Mansion.

After being full, Arthur seemed to want to sleep again, as seen from his heavy eyes, indicating he wanted to close them again.

Debora smiled sweetly at her nephew's face, which looked so cute, with his mouth starting to open as he drifted off to sleep again.

Peek-a-boo!

Debora gently kissed Arthur's chubby cheek, feeling delighted as she saw her nephew remain calm while receiving her kiss.

Nita followed Debora from behind as they entered the Mansion.

Debora faintly heard a commotion coming from the living room; it seemed her brother-in-law had guests over.

Debora continued walking towards the stairs, and the voices of the arguments became clearer to her.

"I never wanted her to be my wife, Mom keeps insisting. She's the one who has to replace Riska. Doesn't Mom consider my feelings? I feel awkward marrying my own sister-in-law. Just seeing her, I don't like it. I feel uncomfortable seeing a greenhorn like her!" shouted Debora's brother-in-law in anger.

It turned out that her brother-in-law's mother was arguing with him.

Debora's footsteps halted upon hearing her brother-in-law's shouting; the girl stood frozen in place, listening to what her brother-in-law was yelling.

"Victor! you have to get used to it, only Debora is worthy of being Arthur's mother. She's a good girl, she is free from embarrassing rumors. Marrying Debora will keep our assets safe from those unclear women who are chasing after you!" Victor's mother shouted angrily as well.

"But, at the very least, not a greenhorn like her!" Victor shouted, emotional.

"She's no longer a greenhorn, Victor. She's an independent woman; she's over twenty years old!" Victor's mother retorted sharply.

"I don't care what Mama says, to me, she's still a little girl who likes to win on her own!" Victor retorted, sounding annoyed.

"How do you know she likes to win on her own?" asked Victor's mother angrily.

"Riska told me that she's a stubborn sister, likes to win on her own, and doesn't like being controlled. The proof is she doesn't want to live with her parents!" Victor shouted angrily as well.

"You can't just listen to what Riska says; you can ask Debora yourself why she chose to live in a different city from her parents!" Victor's mother disagreed, not only relying on Riska's explanation.

"So, according to Mama, Riska is lying?" Victor asked sharply.

"Not necessarily, but... we also need to hear Debora's explanation!" Victor's mother replied.

"I don't want to hear her explanation; what Riska said is the truth!" Victor said.

"It doesn't matter what you say, now that you're married, she's your wife, so you have to get used to her. You are now Arthur's parents!" Victor's mother exclaimed.

"I can't accept her as my wife; this is for Arthur. I have to accept her only as Arthur's caregiver until he grows up. We have to divorce because I'm not comfortable with her!" Victor stated firmly.

"Victor! you can't! you can't divorce! no matter what happens, you must not divorce, remember that!" Victor's mother shouted angrily.

Debora's body trembled as she listened to the conversation between her brother-in-law and her brother-in-law's mother.

She hadn't expected that, while alive, her own sibling didn't like her.

With slow steps, as her legs felt shaky, Debora climbed the stairs feeling the pain of hearing the harsh judgment she received from her brother-in-law.
