After greeting everyone at the table, Quinneta sat down to eat. She actually concentrated on eating and didn't look anywhere else. She just had to learn and remind herself that she wasn't in crocus city anymore. She wasn't the same lady she was anymore, she was now a princess, the crown princess, she had to act like one and prove to everyone that she could still be useful even though her cultivation base was weak.
When Quinneta was done eating, she excused herself and went back to her room to prepare for her training. She had actually found a book that gave detailed explanation about improving a person's cultivation base. The shelf in her room really had all the books she needed. She read the book for a while until she was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Quinneta, it's me, Xai."
Quinneta stood up and went to open the door. "Is it time for today's training?" She asked.
"Yes," Xai replied.
"I'm so excited. You don't have to go the academy today?" She asked.
"I took the day off for your training." Xai replied.
Quinneta came out of the room with the book. "I'm so lucky to have a teacher like you," she said.
"It's an honour to teach you, Princess." Xai said and made a bow.
Quinneta smiled. "You are funny. Thank you for accepting to teach me."
"Did you ask for his permission?" Xai asked
Quinneta already knew what he meant. "He said no," she replied as she walked with Xai to a hall. "I can only rely on your teachings." She added.
°°°
Carrine didn't have any meetings to go outside the palace. It was a free day for him, and after checking a few things around the palace, he only walked with Lild following behind.
He got to the hall where Quinneta was training with Xai. He stopped and decided to watch them for a while.
He saw the persistency and energy Quinneta was using in the training. She was really trying hard, but he didn't want her to go Sky stars.
Even so much as he didn't want to admit, he was starting to care about her. What she did, how she was feeling, it was beginning to matter to him.
He watched her for a long while, both Quinneta and Xai unaware of his presence. Quinneta climbed a high stool and was trying the new skill Xai taught her. She kept trying but couldn't succeed, and at a point she was about to fall. Her legs slipped and a piece of something on the stool made a clean cut about her feet. She was fully expecting to fall until she wasn't dropping anymore and was floating, resting on an amaranth colored flame ball. She immediately knew who it was. A force pulled her and she landed on the Crown Prince's arms.
Their eyes met. The flames in Carrine's eyes increased, but this time, there was a glint of anger in them.
He dropped her down and held her feet.
"I'm so sorry Your Highness." Xai immediately apologised.
"LEAVE!" He tried to surpress his anger.
"Your Highness, it wasn't Xai's fault, I.." Quinneta was interrupted.
"Why?" Carrine asked.
"Huh?" Quinneta didn't understand the question.
"Why can't you just stay in a place?" Carrine asked coldly.
"Why? Do you hate seeing me so much? I want to be useful to you, I just want to help you, but you won't let me. I'm trying my best, and still you don't like it. You rarely talk to me, when you do, it's just to scold me. I wanted to go to sky stars, you won't let me. Should I just sit in the palace and do nothing?" Tears trickled down Quinneta's cheeks.
Carrine felt is heart glow in a way that it affected his chest. Before he could talk, Quinneta left after he was done wrapping her wound. She ran to her room and shut the door before Tenah could enter.
She leaned on the door and slide down to the floor crying.
She had lived her life happily since she was young. She hadn't done anything bad, she had always been helping people around her, giving medicine she made herself to those she didn't even know was sick, sewing nice dresses for people. She hadn't even wished for many things for herself, just the happiness of those around her made her happy.
But now, they got her married to someone who didn't even care about her, how she felt, or what she does. She was even sure he didn't even like having her around. What wrong had she done to be treated in such away? More tears flowed and she cried for a long time.
She came out of her room when it was dinner time. She didn't want anyone to ask her questions if she skipped dinner.
"Your Highness, are you okay? I was scared since you weren't coming out of your room." Tenah said immediately she saw Quinneta come out. She had been waiting by the door since Quinneta entered the room.
"I'm fine, and I'm sorry to make you worry." Quinneta replied.
"I'm glad you are fine. Dinner has been served. There are delicious pastries available. I noticed you like them, so I sent a message to the chef to add them to tonight's meal." Tenah said.
"Thank you so much, Tenah." Quinneta smiled.
*Dinner table*
Quinneta greeted everyone at the table then she sat down to eat.
Xai signalled to her and asked. "How's your feet?" He asked.
"It's better." She replied him.
Quinneta noticed Carrine wasn't present at the table. She sighed. What she had said might have upset him and made him lose appetite.
"Daughter, can you take Carrine's meal to him?" The King asked.
"Yes, Father." Quinneta took a tray and packed some food. She bowed and left the dinning table.
•••
Carrine had been thinking of what Quinneta had said earlier that day. No one had ever talked back at him that way. But, her words were sincere, she had even cried and he did nothing. She must really hate him already.
When it was dinner time, he couldn't go to the dinner table. He had no appetite for food.
Just as he was thinking about Quinneta, his star glowed again. She was around?
He raised his head up and he saw her. She had actually brought him dinner?
"Your Highness," she said and bowed.
She walked towards a table and dropped the tray. "I didn't know what you might like to eat, so I packed my favourites for you," she said as she served the food.
Carrine watched her. He wasn't expecting her to care about him again. He had hurt her, but, she still brought him dinner. She was so nice and innocent.
"Your Highness, I'm very sorry for all I said earlier. I'd be careful when I train and I wouldn't be a bother to you. I'd try my best so you can be proud of me, I'm truly sorry," she said.
Carrine was surprised at her actions. She had done nothing wrong and now she was apologising with ease. How did she manage to do that?
"You have my permission," Carrine said.
"Huh?" Quinneta thought she hadn't heard him right.
"You can attend Sky stars. You have my permission." He replied.
