Chapter 6 The Prodigy!

The idea for the agreement came from Debra.

She thought it was necessary since she and Rylee were going to take Waylon in. They needed a way to protect themselves from Waylon. So Rylee used the agreement to keep Waylon from taking advantage of them.

After all, Rylee had the power to send Waylon packing at any time, something Debra couldn't do.

But to everyone's surprise, once Waylon accepted the terms, he cleverly invoked the name of Debra's late grandfather, demanding three dates!

It felt like they were stuck in a loop.

Debra pushed Rylee to keep Waylon in check, who took everything Rylee threw at him, only to turn around and press Debra using Ethan's name. Debra was left with no choice but to put up with it...

"Darn it..." Debra was seething with frustration. She began to see that the smooth-talking man before her was more of a headache than she'd initially thought.

"Hey, Waylon, remember our agreement? The first rule is that you can't pressure Debra into anything she's uncomfortable with. How come you're breaking that rule already?" Rylee challenged.

"I didn't break the rule," Waylon said, looking innocent. "I just want to honor her late grandfather's last wish. If my future wife isn't willing to work with me towards our happiness, I won't push her."

"You..." Rylee suddenly caught on that Waylon's agreeable demeanor was just for show. He had figured out her plan, knowing full well she wouldn't kick him out since she was after revenge!

Both women shot Waylon a fierce look, but he just smiled back, sure of himself, causing a momentary standoff.

"Alright, you get three dates," Debra reluctantly agreed, unable to find a solid reason to say no. She clenched her teeth and added, "But I'm only giving you three chances. And I get to decide when they happen, since my schedule is packed and I might not be free every day."

"Deal!" Waylon responded with a confident smile, clearly pleased with himself. "Three dates are all I need to win you over."

"Humph!" Debra let out a huff of disdain and stood up to go upstairs.

She couldn't fathom Waylon's confidence and was convinced she'd never fall for such an annoying man, not in three or even ten years. It simply wasn't going to happen!

"Hehe, I didn't think you'd be so sly." As Debra stormed off, Rylee turned to Waylon with a playful giggle. "It seems I've underestimated you!"

"I'm not getting what you're saying," Waylon retorted with a smirk.

"Oh, just play dumb!" Rylee, not wanting to elaborate, slid the agreement across the table and urged, "Sign the agreement quickly! I don't have time to waste here with you!"

"You do have your looks, but sadly, you lack honesty and tend to be quite irritable. No one's looking for a wife with those traits," Waylon muttered to himself, eyeing Rylee as he signed the document.

Though he muttered to himself, Rylee caught every word, which infuriated her, causing her to breathe heavily in anger, her white shirt straining against her chest.

"Jerk, just you wait. I'll see how long you can keep up that smirk!" Rylee snapped back.

This time, she decided to be smart and not waste her time arguing with Waylon. Instead, she started plotting her revenge in her head.

After Waylon signed the agreement, Rylee didn't stick around downstairs. She took the agreement and went back upstairs.

Meanwhile, Waylon remained seated on the sofa. He wasn't watching TV or doing anything in particular. He was just sitting there, deep in thought.

Today marked Waylon's first encounter with Debra and his first time interacting with her. Based on his initial impression, Ethan's description of her seemed spot on. Having lost her parents at a young age, she had become quite reserved.

Debra's extreme need for security made her particularly tough to get close to. And now, with Rylee in the picture, achieving his goal had become even more complicated.

Waylon realized he had to seriously focus if he wanted to make Debra fall in love with him in just three months...

While Waylon was caught up thinking about how to win over Debra, Debra was upstairs in the study with Rylee, on a video call with a very professional-looking young woman.

The woman on the screen was Janessa Carter, Debra's assistant, who was both beautiful and charming.

With a friendly smile, Janessa respectfully offered, "Miss Morgan, I've gathered the information on Waylon Cooper. Would you prefer I email it to you, or shall we go over it now during our call?"

"Just give me the basics," Debra said casually. She was curious to learn about the man her grandfather had been so eager to set her up with. Now, with her grandfather gone, the only way for Debra to get to know Waylon was by digging into his past.

"Alright," Janessa replied. She started off in a straightforward manner, "Waylon Cooper, a 23-year-old man. His parents disappeared right after he was born, and he ended up in an orphanage. At six, he was adopted by a scavenger named Alaric Cooper and went to a primary school. With his exceptionally outstanding grades, he finished primary school within three years and got into Lucset's top middle school at nine, making him a famous child prodigy in Lucset. He only spent a year in middle school before acing the high school entrance exams, scoring higher than anyone else in Lucset that year and setting a record by starting high school at ten. This record still hasn't been beaten. Entering high school at ten made him a national celebrity. Top universities were fighting to get him, and the president of Waterford University even made a trip to Lucset just for him. At eleven, Waylon crushed the college entrance exams, topping the charts again in every subject, and once again living up to his reputation as a child prodigy.

Listening to this, Debra and Rylee were astounded, their expressions a mix of surprise and disbelief.

"Are we talking about the same person here?"

They looked at each other, seeing the shock mirrored in each other's eyes. Could the smooth-talking, yet infuriating Waylon really be the same child prodigy who had once been a sensation across the country?

It seemed too hard to believe!

With Waylon's sloppy appearance, how could anyone see him as a genius? He seemed like nothing more than a street-smart kid!

But since it was Janessa who shared the news, Debra and Rylee had no choice but to accept it. Janessa was known for her meticulous fact-checking.

"I remember that story. I always wanted to meet the child prodigy everyone talked about. I never imagined it would be him..." Debra said, a faint smile playing on her lips, though her expression seemed forced.

That was because when Waylon became famous for his brilliance, Lucset had another genius, and it was Debra herself.

Debra began primary school at six, moved on to middle school by ten, was in high school by twelve, and took the national college entrance exams at fourteen, achieving the second highest score in the nation...

The only person who ever outscored her was the very genius who, being three years younger than her, aced the college entrance exams at just eleven!
