Chapter 5 5(miracle)

"No." I shook my head in denial, laughing.

"I can't be; she can't be dead; you are lying," accusing him

"Please calm down, Leah," Dr. Gomez said

"Don't touch me; she's not dead; she's just pretending. What do you mean she's gone" turning over to Sofia

"Come on, tell him to stop playing; she's not dead; tell him. Aaron, you tell him too; since you brought him here, she's not dead; let me just talk to her" Pushing him aside to go in, Aaron holds me back.

"Let me go; I have to talk to her; she promised she wouldn't leave me. Let me go.

"Leave me," I demanded, struggling in his hold.

"I'm so sorry," he said, cupping my face in his hands

"What are you sorry for? She's not dead, he's just playing with me, so let me go see her.

"Listen to me, she's gone"

"No, no, no, no, he put you to this, didn't he?

"No, please accept it."

"Never." I'm crying into his chest as he tries to comfort me

"Dr. Gomez, you are needed in the theater now, please." The nurse rushed out

"What happened?

"We found a heartbeat.

"Ok, then we have to be fast if we still have hope of saving her.

I watched as they rushed back into the room, wanting to follow them, but Aaron held me back. An hour later, Dr. Gomez walked out, smiling as he walked towards us.

"The surgery was a success, and she is being moved to a room to recover." I screamed with joy, hugging Aaron in the process as he spun me around in happiness, laughing with excitement until a cough broke the little bubble we were in, forgetting Sofia was there.

"So can I go see her now? Yes.

"Ok, thank you so much, and sorry about earlier," I apologized.

"No problem, I was just doing my job, and I understand your situation.

I walked into the room to see the nurses still setting everything up for her

"How long will it be before she wakes up?" I asked one of the nurses

"Ok, in an hour or so." I nodded my head in understanding.

"I am going to leave you alone, I hope that's ok

"Yes, thank you," I answered as he walked out.

"We did it, don't ever scare me like that, nanny," I said, holding her hand as I talked."

Feeling someone caress my hair, I realized I slept off as I raised my head to see who it was

"Nanny, you're awake," I said, jumping out of my seat to hug her

"Easy.

"Sorry, how are you feeling? How long have you been awake?

"For a while now, but your fiancé gave me company."

"Fiancé?

"Yeah, the young man over there," she said, turning over to see Aaron sitting on the couch

"I wanted to wake you up, but he told me how stressed out you have been for the past few days, so we decided to have a chat while we waited for you to wake up.

"Oh ok." I wonder what they talked about

"Why didn't you tell me you had a boyfriend, not to mention the fact that you are engaged?

"Sorry, I was so caught up with your surgery it didn't come to mind.

"Oh, poor boy, he must have suffered from neglect in your hands, didn't you?

"Yes, I was, but I totally understand.

"He told me he was the one to pay for the surgery since you wouldn't let him do it before and couldn't bare to see you in pain anymore, and also invited the doctor for the operation.

"Yes, he did, I am really grateful, even though I was against it.

"You don't need to be independent all the time; it's ok to take help when it's too much to handle. Ok, so when is the wedding?

"Woah, you just had surgery. We can talk about all this later." I diverted the topic to avoid facing the reality that I was going to marry him sooner or later

"I'm fine. Stop worrying. I want to see you happy, so how long have you been dating? When did you get engaged?

"We have been together for two years and engaged for one," Aaron said, causing my eyes to widen as I looked at him.

"Really, you never told me.

"Again, we met during the time we found out about your condition, so forget.

"You don't hide something like that for two years, Lenah, but forget about that; once I get discharged, you are getting married immediately.

True to her word, two months after getting out of the hospital, she hired a wedding planner. I tried slowing down the process, but she wasn't having it; she already had my wedding planned in her head since I was a child and wasn't really interested since it wasn't a real marriage. Bringing me back to a few weeks ago, when I met up with Aaron to sign the contract.

"Ok, the contract is going to be simple, we get married for a year, and I get to correct my image in front of the board and public while you get monthly payments of a million dollars and a hundred million at the end of the contract. I have already paid the medical bills and will continue to do so in the future if the need arises.

"Ok, apart from pretending to be your wife, what else should I be expecting?

"Nothing much except going to events with me, you can read the contract to know more and let me know why you don't like it.

"Wait, we have to sleep in the same room and bed!" I asked after going through the contract.

"Yes, we have to, they will be watching us since they haven't heard of you before, and I know my brother tries to put spies in my house, so we can't get caught.

"What's the deal between you and your brother anyway?

"That's none of your business; just focus on our agreement."

"Ok, if you say so, where should I sign?" He gave me the pen to sign and did the same after sealing the deal.

"Lenah what are you thinking about? I have been asking what you think of the dress for a while now, and you have lost yourself in your thoughts." Nanny snaps her fingers to get my attention.

"Sorry, I was thinking about something.

"I understand you are thinking about Aaron, aren't you?

"No, not that.

"Ok, then what's got you thinking?

"I have something to tell you.

"Ok, go ahead, tell me.

"I have been hiding this from you for months now and don't know how to tell you, but I didn't have a choice but to do it, and I know you will not be in support of it."

"Stop beating around the bush and tell me already, it can't be that bad.

"Ok I.. I..
