Chapter 7 Billowing Land

When Wren spoke, Benjamin got goose bumps and felt sick.

He knew Wren too well to fall for her sentimental words, having known her for three years.

She'd always been cruel to him, just like Torrie, even chasing him with a mop more than once.

Now, her sudden niceness seemed like a clear setup.

Benjamin was clueless about her plan, but he wanted no part of it. He cut her off right away.

"No, we're done. I divorced your sister, so I'm no longer your brother-in-law. We're nothing to each other now. Goodbye."

"Wait!" Wren's voice cracked with urgency. She hadn't achieved her goal. She couldn't let Benjamin just walk away.

Desperately, she tried another angle. "Benjamin, I get it. You're upset and angry right now. Couples fight, but they make up. How about this? Let me arrange a meeting. You can talk it out with Rosalie."

But Benjamin was firm. "No need," he replied instantly.

"You..." Wren was stunned by his unwavering rejection.

Dropping her act, she lashed out with a string of curses.

"Really, Benjamin? You're being so unreasonable. I've been nothing but polite to you. What more do you want? Do you remember the time you came crawling to me? Do you think I can't do anything to you just because you divorced my sister? I'll give you a chance! Tell me where you are right now."

Click!

With that, Benjamin abruptly hung up, ignoring Wren.

He then walked into the Billowing Land villa district, the property of the Holland family.

The security guard immediately greeted him with respect, "Welcome home, Mr. Holland."

"Thanks," Benjamin replied briefly, heading towards the No. 1 villa.

This was his other home, the one he shared with his mother.

Upon reaching the villa, the door swung open.

A middle-aged woman, Peggy, greeted him, "Mr. Holland!"

"Hello, Peggy! How's my mother?" Benjamin asked as he stepped inside.

Peggy shook her head. "She is the same, sir. She hasn't woken up."

"I'll figure something out. I'm going to see her now," Benjamin replied, sounding a bit down.

He then made his way to the main bedroom on the second floor.

There, an old woman lay in bed, looking serene with the sunlight gently caressing her face.

This was Benjamin's mother.

Benjamin made his way over to his mom, taking her hand gently in his.

Even though he knew she couldn't hear him, he said with a heavy heart, "Mom, I'm here. I've got some tough news. My wife, the one you never met, has left me. But I managed to get back the necklace you saved for your future daughter-in-law. You've got to get better. Then, if I find someone special and remarry, you can hand her the necklace yourself."

He sat beside her, holding her hand, sharing his thoughts in a calm voice.

Years ago, his mom had pulled him away from the powerful Holland family in the capital. They were chased and ambushed. His mom got hurt badly and ended up in this coma.

Back then, he was strong but barely escaped the attack.

Since then, he had been searching for rare medicines and doing research, hoping to wake her up, but nothing much had changed. He never lost hope, though.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Suddenly, his phone rang, breaking the silence.

The message displayed just two words, Saul Anderson.

To others, this name would be a big deal.

In Henvine, people referred to Saul as the King of Real Estate.

Saul Anderson was well-known and respected in Henvine, someone no one would want to upset.

But not everyone knew that Saul used to work for Benjamin's teacher.

Benjamin hit the answer button and Saul's voice came through.

"Mr. Holland, Harriet Lawson from the prominent Lawson family in Henvine wants to know when you can meet. She's hoping to discuss her adopted daughter's situation with you."

It was then that Benjamin remembered Saul mentioning this a few days back.

Harriet's adopted daughter was gravely sick, and no doctor could help her. In desperation, she turned to Saul, a well-known real estate mogul in Henvine.

Saul, with his vast network in the real estate sector, often encountered people from various fields seeking properties.

He had heard that Harriet, in an attempt to heal her adopted child, had gathered some rare medicinal ingredients.

Benjamin, another individual in need of such items, had been promptly contacted by Saul.

Upon hearing the news, Benjamin didn't hesitate to agree.

Meanwhile, Rosalie's company was struggling financially due to overexpansion and urgently needed investment.

Benjamin saw an opportunity here. He proposed that along with the medicinal materials, the Lawson family should also consider investing in Rosalie's business.

But Rosalie had been swamped with work recently, and Benjamin, who was assisting her in recovery, had completely forgotten about this matter.

Now, with the Lawson family ready to invest two hundred million dollars into her company, Benjamin realized he owed them a favor.

Despite his divorce from Rosalie, he felt obligated to repay this debt, adhering to his principle.

"I'm at Billowing Land. Have her meet me here," Benjamin decisively told Saul.

"Understood, sir," Saul responded with respect before ending the call.

In the Carter family house.

Torrie and Wren paced the living room, fraught with anxiety.

Wren's frustration grew by the minute.

"Damn it! How dare he hang up on me! I was polite and all, but he ignored me. He needs a good scolding. Such a rude man!" she exclaimed.

Torrie shared her irritation. She was particularly upset about the necklace Benjamin had taken, suspecting it was of great value. This thought only added to her already simmering anger, making it hard for her to even breathe calmly.

Abruptly, Wren halted and pulled out her phone.

She remembered that Benjamin had posted some pictures on social media recently.

"Mom, do these pictures look familiar?"

Rushing over, Torrie peered closely at them for some time.

"Yes, they do seem familiar. I'm sure I've seen them somewhere."

Then, Torrie exclaimed, "That's Billowing Land, isn't it?"

Torrie often fantasized about staying there. She was quite familiar with the place, often visiting it when she had free time.

Wren's comment jogged her memory.

"Also, during my video call with that jerk earlier, he had a similar background. But that loser has been jobless for three years. How can he afford to stay there?"

Wren's eyes narrowed, her voice tinged with bitterness. "What else could it be? He's probably hiding some money! Or perhaps he had a lot of it years ago and kept a big chunk secret. He might even own a villa there."

"A villa!" Torrie's eyes sparkled. "I've heard each of those villas is worth at least one hundred million. Especially the No. 1 villa. It's said to be worth a fortune."

Torrie grew more furious as she spoke, her eyes reddening and her breathing growing heavy.

"So that's why that bastard agreed to the divorce so quickly. He didn't want to split his assets. No way! I deserve a part of that villa. It's mine. I need to make him give it back."
