Chapter 9 9

Alpha Vladimir's perspective:

Never get pregnant again... Most women wouldn't accept this. The debt between us was gone, but I didn't feel happy. I felt heavy.

I stopped outside the room and then left the hospital. I sat in my car, but my mind kept wandering.

My driver, Hughes, looked at me through the mirror and said, "Alpha Blairgowrie, I've paid for a month of hospitalization and medical fees for Ms. Evans. I told the nurse to contact me if more payment is needed."

I responded indifferently, looking out the window. I saw Janet Emmett leaving the hospital angrily wearing sunglasses.

"Should we give her a ride?" Hughes asked.

"No, it's fine," I said. I didn't want to spend more time with Janet Emmett.

After Janet left, the hospital room became quiet. Lisa Evans was lost in her thoughts, thinking about what had just happened.

The only possibility was that Janet lied and I mistook her for my childhood rescuer.

Good things come to those who wait. Lisa imagined my expression when I found out the truth. She felt a sense of revenge.

For the next three days, she stayed in the hospital room. Sometimes she looked out the window.

She would touch her lower abdomen, reminiscing about the life that once existed there.

Janet didn't bother her during those three days, and I was nowhere to be found. Lisa finally had some time to herself.

But then the nurse knocked on her door and said, "Ms. Evans, there's an Alpha Ludwig here to see you."

Lisa didn't want to see him. She apathetically told the nurse to tell him to go home.

The nurse conveyed Lisa's message, but Ben Ludwig didn't give up. He kept knocking and apologized for his mom's behavior.

There was no response from the room.

"I know you're angry. I promise; my mom won't bother you again!" Ben shouted.

Looking suave in his racing outfit, Ben caught the attention of the hospital nurse.

The nurse reminded him, "Sir, Ms. Evans is still recovering from her miscarriage. Please lower your voice."

"Miscarriage?" Ben was stunned and swore. "Shit!"

Who else could the child have belonged to besides me?

He threw the bouquet at the reception and rushed to find me. But he bumped into me in the hallway as I was coming out of the elevator.

I stopped in my tracks, accompanied by an assistant panting and holding a lunchbox. I couldn't stop thinking about Lisa Evans in the hospital, so I arranged for supplements to be sent to her.

"Alpha Vladimir Blairgowrie, you scum!"

Filled with anger, Ben rushed towards me and punched my face. "How can you treat a woman like this? Are you even a man?"

The pain woke me up, and I fought back. A fight broke out between us, shocking everyone in the hospital.

"Fight! Fight!" Someone shouted.

Lisa heard the commotion and turned her wheelchair towards the door.

Someone called from outside, "Ms. Evans, come quickly. People are fighting over you."

Lisa tightened her grip on the wheelchair.

She then heard Ben say while throwing punches, "Lisa Evans must be blind. How could she ever like you?"

I blocked Ben's next punch and coldly replied, "What about you? You couldn't even save her from your mom. How could you protect her?"

Time seemed to freeze, and Ben was speechless.

No one noticed a crack appearing in the tightly shut door, and Lisa slipped out.

Ten minutes later, the nurse received a call. She was shocked. "What? Ms. Evans has been discharged from the hospital?"

Ben exclaimed, "What?" He let go of my shirt and stormed into the empty hospital room.

He glanced at me, but I showed no emotion.

Ben snatched the phone from the nurse and asked where Lisa went. The person on the other end didn't know.

Ben threatened me and ran to the elevators.

I didn't care about my injuries. I knew Lisa couldn't have gone far.

And I was right. With the Evans family's debts, Lisa had nowhere to go.

After leaving the hospital, her cellphone kept receiving messages, piling up with millions of unread ones.
