Chapter 6 6

Alpha Vladimir's perspective:

It was 8 o'clock in the evening. Janet and I were sitting in a Michelin restaurant, casually enjoying our meal. Suddenly, Janet mentioned that she ran into Lisa and her boyfriend.

I paused, placing my knife and fork down, and raised my eyes apathetically. "Boyfriend?"

Janet wasn't intimidated by my change in attitude. She softly replied, "Yes, I've looked into it. His name is Ben Ludwig, and he comes from a wealthy family. It shouldn't really bother me, but I can't stand it anymore. After what the Evans family did to you, Lisa doesn't deserve to live a happy life."

She pretended not to notice the look in my eyes and continued, exaggerating her tone, "Ben seems to be madly in love with her, always making sure she's warm by offering his jacket."

The more Janet spoke, the more gloomy I became. It reached its peak when she mentioned that they had moved in together.

I couldn't control my emotions any longer. I tossed the cutlery on the table, creating a loud clink, and the atmosphere around me quickly turned dense and chilly.

Janet acted surprised, asking, "Alpha Vladimir, did I say something wrong?"

She had intentionally worded it to challenge my pride as a man.

Hardly moments after our divorce, my ex-Luna had already found solace in the arms of another man. It felt like nothing but an insult to me.

I calmed myself down, realizing I had overreacted. I promptly hid my frustration and said coldly, "It's nothing. I'm done, just waiting for you." I wiped my mouth with a napkin, trying my best to act normal.

"Sure," Janet smiled and lowered her head, pretending to enjoy the last bit of her steak. But she conveniently hid the despair in her eyes.

Lisa used to be a superstar, and Janet had always been envious of her success in the entertainment industry. Janet was far behind what Lisa had achieved.

She was secretly happy to see Lisa in such a sad state, and she never wanted Lisa to be successful again.

After dinner, I stood up and headed straight for the exit, almost storming out. The valet had brought my car around, and it was waiting for me by the door.

I reached for my keys, circled around the car, and got into the driver's seat without a word.

Janet was about to get in the car when I looked at her and paused, holding the seatbelt in my hands. "Miles will be picking you up shortly."

Janet was startled for a moment. She said with wide eyes, "Alpha Vladimir, are you planning to leave me here alone? It's so dark out here."

"Listen, behave yourself," I put on a patient look, but I was on the verge of losing it, as my tone deepened and became hoarse.

Janet was smart enough not to test my patience. She had hardly stepped out of the car when I closed the door behind her with a thud.

Before she could turn around, the car had already sped off with the tires screeching.

It was the first time I had treated her with such coldness.

Janet stared at the car, its obsidian color disappearing into the darkness. She stood there, gritting her teeth in anger.

She understood that Lisa was about to get into trouble, but my actions worried her.

I zoomed across town, the wind whipping violently as I drove. The words "they have moved in together" echoed in my head relentlessly.

Moving in together...

Hoho, your father just died and you've lost everything, and now you're hooking up with another man as if nothing is bothering you.

Lisa Evans, it seems like I've underestimated you.

I tightly gripped the steering wheel with one hand and put on a Bluetooth earphone with the other. Then, I made a call. "Do me a favor."

...

Lisa's perspective:

Despite the string of unfortunate events that had happened recently, I refused to let them defeat me. When I woke up, the first thing I did was search for a new job online.

Three days later, I received a call that I thought was from a company interested in hiring me.

I answered the call and heard a voice of a middle-aged woman on the other end. "Hello, am I speaking to Miss Lisa Evans ? I'd like to arrange a meeting."

In the café, the woman revealed herself to be Ben's mother. She was wealthy, and she placed three million in cash on the table. She wanted me to take the money and disappear from Ben's life, claiming I was not right for him.

I stirred my coffee and smiled casually. "Ma'am, there's a misunderstanding. My relationship with Ben isn't what you think it is."

"Oh? Does that mean you won't take the money?" The woman raised her eyebrows. "You moved in together. Listen, you will take this money, whether you like it or not. If you insist on seducing Benny, you will regret your actions."

The woman paid for the bill before leaving, rubbing the insult in.

I struggled to carry the bag of money, weighing nearly a hundred pounds, out of the café.

Money! What a joke!

I scoffed at myself, never imagining that money could be used to insult me.

With that thought, I gathered all my strength and threw the bag into the air, making it rain notes in the middle of a busy street.

"Money! It's raining money!"

"Hurry up and grab the money! Don't let the notes get wet!"

The crowd rushed to pick up the money, while some judged me. "She must be crazy! Why would she throw money away?"

"She looks familiar. Isn't she the ex-Luna of the CEO of Blairgowrie Group? The one whose father died and company went bankrupt!"

"Who cares? Just get the money! We'll need it, and she can earn it back with her looks anyway!"

Whispers of criticism filled my ears, and I almost let it get to me.

Even though I had embarrassed Alpha Vladimir at Luminance Club, it came with consequences.

I remembered Janet's smirk as she handed me a name card after the failed interview.

In just a month, I had gone from being a superstar to falling into the depths of despair.

It hurt so much...

Passersby fought each other for a few extra notes, turning the street into a chaotic scene. The constant honking of cars did little to restore order.

The rain fell on me without a care. Suddenly, a car stopped in front of me. A man sat in the backseat, and through the rain, I could barely make out his face.

It was Alpha Vladimir.

He got out of the car and walked toward me with his long legs, his driver following with an umbrella.

"It was you, wasn't it?"

Ben's mother had always stayed out of family matters, so I couldn't think of any other reason for her actions except for Alpha Vladimir. SO, He sent her with the money!

"Lisa, I have been kind to you."

The rain poured heavier, soaking Alpha Vladimir's shoulder as he stood over me, his gaze icy.

A few moments later, he grabbed my chin forcefully. "I thought about letting you go, but this is your fault. You shouldn't be with another man so soon."

I sensed the jealousy in his tone, and my heart warmed despite the cold and rain.

But soon, a chill ran down my spine, and my heart sank as goosebumps covered my skin.

Alpha Vladimir leaned in and squeezed the words through his teeth. "I will never allow anyone from the Evans family to be happy again. That's all I wanted to say."
