Chapter 6 Shadow

Rosaline's eyes widened in surprise. "What!?" she exclaimed, caught off guard by Shaan's unexpected words.

"You heard me, Princess," Shaan replied with a smug smile, enjoying the moment. This was precisely why she despised having guards constantly around her. However, she realised she had no choice but to comply with his demands.

"Don't tell my dad, and please, help me," Rosaline spoke, insincerity lacing her words.

Shaan rephrased the line, taunting her further. "Help me, brothers," he said, his eyes gleaming with amusement. Rosaline clenched her teeth, her fists tightening around the fork in her hand. The pressure was so intense that the fork began to bend.

"....Help me...Brothers." her voice sounded as if she held back her breath.

"But you see, I don't want to be your brother, Princess."

Her frustration reached its peak, and without a second thought, the fork flung from her hand, barely missing Shaan's face. He barely managed to evade the sharp edges, his expression momentarily startled.

"Go to hell and die! I've had enough!" Rosaline declared, her voice filled with anger and defiance. She began storming away, but then she abruptly halted, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips. "I'll injure myself on purpose, and I hope you remember my father's words."

With that final retort, Rosaline turned the tables and confidently walked away, leaving Shaan who stood there while shaking his head with a wry smile lingering on his face.

"Enough joking," Ace interjected, tapping Shaan's shoulder while he nodded with a chuckle.

[West Omega Territory]-

The west side was colder than the North area with an eerie surrounding. Rosaline disguised herself as a merchant along with the three of them following her from behind. It was the same road as the other door but no one bothered to spare a glance at them which was expected.

"Room for four!" Rosaline said as soon she opened the door of the bar Raven works at.

"What-Oh! Sure, right this way," He said, showing her a place in the right corner with a bit of privacy. The people around there were all gloomy minding their own business which was kind of concerning. They didn't have any Alpha to lead them. Most of them were Omegas which made Rosaline slightly curious about their situation.

"What's wrong with them?" Rosaline asked, her eyes fixed on Raven, who sat in front of her.

"Come closer," he gestured, indicating for her to lean in, and whispered, "It's the phantom Reaper."

Raven began to explain, "The chief's daughters vanished overnight. Shortly after, a few more wolves went missing, and the scent of their Alpha lingered in the air each time."

As he spoke, Raven placed a drink near Rosaline and cast a fleeting glance at Shaan, who stood silently nearby.

"Betas?" Shaan interjected, seeking clarification and Rosaline nodded as an answer.

"So, she killed all the Alphas because she lost her daughters?" Rosaline questioned, feeling ridiculous.

"No, it's more complicated than that. This area is basically a gathering for Omegas who have escaped from their oppressive Alpha packs," Raven explained. "Well, Some Betas joined later. The entire village has become a haven for those who hold a grudge against Alphas, so to speak."

"And what about my mother?"

Raven raised his hand to halt her, signalling for her to follow him. Rosaline stood up, Insisting that Shaan remain behind and they left for the adjacent room.

As soon as they entered, Raven closed the door and addressed Rosaline, his tone serious. "Ms, you seem quite in the dark about quite a load of stuff you know?"

Drawing closer, locking eyes with her, he delivered the astonishing revelation: "Your mother, Amelia, was... a human."

"What?" Rosaline gasped, struggling to absorb the weight of the words.

"No, she was turned into an Omega," Raven affirmed.

"How is that possible? Are you sure it wasn't a late bloom?"

"No, She was 'turned'"

Each word struck Rosaline like a bolt of lightning, leaving her torn between disbelief and a nagging sense that these words held a grain of truth. She yearned to understand why her father had kept these secrets from her, how he could have concealed something so profound.

"Speaking of which, your father is Alpha Maverick, isn't he?" Raven's question jolted her back to the present.

"Yes, you must have heard from Erica," Rosaline replied, her mind still reeling from the previous sentences.

"Well, you see... the Omegas in this area don't believe in the existence of the Phantom Reaper. Instead, they believe it was your father who invaded their territory and caused this mess," Raven disclosed.

"What do you mean?" Rosaline inquired, feeling a flicker of unease coursing through her.

Suddenly, Rosaline sensed a different presence in the room. She cautiously reached for the hidden gun at the back, her fingers tightening around the handle.

"But Raven... how did you know about my mother and the Phantom Reaper?" she asked, her voice laced with scepticism.

Raven approached her, leaning in until his voice was barely audible. "I have a secret master on the outside."

Before Rosaline could react, a wolf lunged at her from the shadows. Instinctively, she reached for her gun, but the wolf's menacing paws were just moments away from tearing into her skin. In a split second, Shaan leapt from the ceiling with a resounding impact, weighting on the wolf.

Startled by Shaan's sudden appearance, Rosaline's eyes flickered between the ceiling, where he had been hiding, and the floor, where he now stood.

"You may not always see me, Princess, but rest assured, I am always in your shadows."
