Chapter 6 No Way

When Helena stepped out, Alyssa's father, Omar Collins, walked into the ward holding an item in his hand.

"Mr. Pearson, I truly appreciate it," Omar said, greeting Kellan with a gracious smile.

"We both want Alyssa to recover. I'll leave you two to talk." With that, Kellan departed from the room.

Once Kellan was gone, Omar approached his daughter.

"Alyssa, when you are fully recovered, you have to win Kellan's heart quickly. Don't allow any other woman to take him away," Omar whispered.

Alyssa frowned as she watched Kellan's retreating figure. She didn't hear a word Omar said.

"Leena," Kellan called out, halting Helena.

"Mr. Pearson, anything else I can do for you?" Helena paused, turning to face Kellan.

"Doctor Leena, are you certain Alyssa doesn't require a heart transplant?" Kellan inquired, recalling Alyssa's earlier tests which had indicated a transplant might be necessary.

Helena replied with a hint of impatience, "Mr. Pearson, the situation is clear. What more do you need assurance on?" Helena asked impatiently.

As she tried to leave, Kellan gripped her wrist.

"Mr. Pearson." Helena was visibly irritated, but Kellan swiftly pinned her against the wall.

"Leena, you're behaving quite oddly when I'm around. Are you trying to grab my attention?"

Throughout his life, no one had ever treated him this way, particularly women. They all sought his favor.

The woman he had recently married also aimed to secure wealth and perks, even deceiving his grandfather to join the Pearson family. Did she believe he would simply yield? No way!

Helena lifted her gaze to meet Kellan's. Despite his sharp, handsome features, his words seemed to betray a lack of insight.

"Mr. Pearson, are you..." Are you out of your mind? She almost blurted out. As Helena was gearing up to rebuke Kellan, Rylan appeared.

He stopped in his tracks upon witnessing the scene before him. What was happening? Mr. Pearson was...

In the last three years, the only woman closely associated with Kellan had been Alyssa. He hadn't interacted with any other woman, earning him a reputation of being honorable and steadfast.

Rylan was understandably taken aback.

"What is it?" Kellan turned to him, releasing his grip on Helena and standing upright.

"Mr. Pearson, there's a situation at the company," Rylan quickly replied, showing him a document.

"Alright." Without hesitation, Kellan took the document from Rylan and walked away. Rylan seemed eager to question Kellan about the earlier encounter but held his tongue upon noticing Kellan's stern expression.

Having finally escaped Kellan's grasp, Helena took a deep, calming breath.

Rylan didn't show any signs of recognition when he saw her, which relieved her.

"What? She's refusing to divorce me?" Kellan exclaimed in surprise after hearing the news Rylan had brought.

He had already made a generous proposal. Their two-day-long marriage would be dissolved with offers of a villa, a store, and ten million in compensation.

"Yes, she's insisting that she can't divorce now. However, she's stated that when the time comes for a divorce, she won't demand a single penny," Rylan relayed, echoing Helena's words from the previous night.

He had intended to inform Kellan about it then, but Kellan's phone had been switched off.

In Kellan's mind, Helena was very calculating. She must be after something bigger! Kellan wasn't inherently against the idea of marriage. However, he didn't like it when he was cornered into it by his grandfather.

Moreover, the woman in question hailed from the Wright family, teetering on the brink of financial collapse. Rumors had it that his wife was raised in the countryside, living a humble life with her grandfather, devoid of formal education.

Kellan didn't harbor any disdain for her background. It was the fact that she was only after his family's wealth and made fools of him and his grandfather that irked him.

"She claims not to want any money? Fine! I won't give her any!" Kellan declared vehemently through gritted teeth, ripping the draft of the divorce agreement to shreds.

As someone from a rural background with no financial leverage, what did she think she could possibly accomplish?
