Chapter 3 3

"Because it will come."

I was startled and immediately hid behind him, clutching his clothes tightly, filled with fear.

"Don't talk about it anymore, I don't want it to come."

Both of us promised not to talk about the bloodsucking creatures again.

On another day at school, as usual, I always hid from physical education class because I was allergic to sunlight. I always hid and stole some time to sleep.

"Feeling sleepy?" David approached me, holding some snacks.

"I'm very tired, I've been experiencing insomnia, and it seems like it will continue."

He handed me some snacks from his hand.

"Eat something, I don't want you to get sick."

"Thank you, you're very kind."

I saw the sweet smile on David's face, which was beautifully painted on his serene face. I busily finished my snacks and fell asleep again.

"Dav, do you believe that vampires are real?"

I looked at David, who was frightened, not wanting to discuss the bloodsucking creatures further.

"Why do you look so scared? Have you ever seen one? What do they look like?"

I saw him gulp nervously, and his body began to shiver.

"Can we talk about something else besides vampires?"

"Okay, sorry. Besides, we've already promised to stay silent, right?"

"Yes, you're right, Vara. Let's stop talking about it, okay?"

I nodded eagerly.

"David!" called a beautiful woman, my classmate named Clair.

I looked at her with the eyes of a killer. David noticed my displeasure at seeing the girl near him.

"Clair, let's go."

I watched as David held Clair's hand tightly and led her away from me. I was still annoyed with the girl who was trying to steal David's attention.

"I really hate that girl. I don't love her, but I'm afraid that David, my only friend, will leave me."

I remained irritated and angry at the girl who was currently talking to my best friend. They looked very close.

"Stop talking to yourself, you weirdo!"

That was Kevin, my enemy. He always made all my friends leave and made them hate me, calling me a strange kid.

"Annoying!"

Coming home from school, heavy rain soaked my clothes because I had rushed through the rain to get home. Today, I wasn't picked up by my driver because the car's tire was flat. He asked me to wait at school, but because I got tired of waiting, I chose to brave the rain.

"Miss Vara, why didn't you wait for me to come? Look, your clothes are wet. What if you get sick later?"

I just grinned and quickly jumped into the car.

For two days, I didn't go to school. I was forced to rest in my room due to a fever.

"Miss Vara, please stop going out at night. You could get a more serious illness."

Even though I was sick, I still walked casually at night. Because I loved the night so much. The night made me feel calm and brought eternal peace.

I left my room wearing a gray jacket with white stripes.

"Miss Vara, do you want to go out again?"

"Yes, I want to see David. I miss him so much."

Even though the last time I saw him, he looked at me with a sarcastic and angry look because he was close to a girl named Clair.

"But, the rumor says that last night, there was a vampire roaming and attacking its victims while they were still alive. It sucked all of the victim's blood."

I was shocked and even more curious about the bloodsucking creature.

"Can I see that newspaper?"

I received the newspaper held by my maid, and my eyes widened in shock! I saw Kevin's name, and he was found dead in his room with fang marks on his neck. The vampire had drained all of Kevin's blood!! I was truly shocked to realize that the bloodsucking creature was a cruel and deadly being.

"Who is this vampire? Have you ever heard of them?"

I looked at the maid, who shook her head in fear.

"Okay, I'm still going out now."

I went to see my childhood friend, David. I continued knocking on his door, but there was no answer.

"David!! Can I push open your door?"

I noticed the hinges of the door moving downward, and I was shocked by what I saw inside.

His body was extremely pale, with dark, bloodshot eyes and bloodstains on parts of his clothes.

"Who did this to you? What's wrong with you?"

I didn't hear any response from him, so I started examining his body. I saw fang marks on his neck, and I jumped in shock.

"What happened to your neck?"

I touched his neck with my fingers, and I saw him tightly grip my shoulder, as if in pain.
