Chapter 5 Barred From Leaving The Country

It was calls from the hospital.

Everleigh was neither a surgeon nor an emergency medical technician. She couldn't understand why she received so many calls in the middle of the night.

Everleigh couldn't help but wonder if it was an emergency. Why else would the hospital repeatedly call her?

Just then, a terrible thought crossed her mind.

The next second, she jumped off the bed.

"Sam, Millie, wake up. I'm going to take you guys on a trip today. Hurry up. Otherwise, it will be too late."

She shook her children.

"Mommy..." Millie whined. She was too lazy to wake up.

Samuel, however, sprang up when he heard they were going on a trip.

"A trip? Mommy, where are we going? Don't you need to go to work?"

"I'm taking a few days off. We are all going to Japan. I've booked the flight tickets and wanted to surprise you two. Get up!"

Everleigh quickly pulled her daughter in her arms.

Samuel also got out of bed without delay.

Twenty minutes later, the three finally left the house.

Just then, Everleigh's phone vibrated. She ignored, but it vibrated again.

She finally took it out and found it was a call from her friend, Freya Morgan.

"Hello?"

"My God, Nancy, what's wrong with the hospital? Why are so many people waiting in your consulting room? It's weird. Besides, they are all looking for you. What's going on? You asked for leave, and the hospital is in chaos now. What happened? Did you screw anything up?" Freya spoke breathlessly.

Everleigh's face turned paler.

"It's nothing. They want me to treat a patient, but I don't agree with that. I guess they've come to my consulting room to look for the identification documents. Don't worry. Since they're looking for it themselves, you'd better leave soon."

"Really?" Freya was suspicious.

However, Everleigh didn't want to continue the talk. She was running late and couldn't afford to waste time explaining everything to Freya.

She hung up the phone and immediately rushed to the airport with her two children.

Everleigh couldn't expose her true self. She didn't want to see the shameless man who ruined her life.

She didn't want Weldon to know she was still alive because she knew he would take her children away once he found out about them. After all, she didn't have the potential to fight against a business empire.

That was why she booked the flight tickets after she saw Raelynn in the hospital last night. Later, she called Freya to go to the hospital to hide her identification documents.

But it was too late.

She didn't expect him to come to the hospital so soon.

Everleigh wondered if he never slept.

She couldn't believe he was making a fuss over such a trivial issue.

Everleigh gritted her teeth and drove to the airport with her two kids. Thirty minutes later, she pulled up at the airport.

"Sam, stay here and look after your sister. I'll go and get the boarding passes."

"Okay, Mommy." Samuel nodded earnestly, for he could sense his mother's anxiety.

Everleigh immediately took their ID documents and left.

However, as soon as she placed her ID on the self-scanning machine, the machine beeped aloud. It couldn't identify her card.

Everleigh grew furious.

She was in a hurry, and everything seemed to spiral out of control.

Everleigh had no choice but to be patient. She took a deep breath and went to the check-in counter with her tickets and ID card, hoping to get her boarding passes.

"Hello! Could you please help me with the boarding pass?"

"Are you Miss Nancy Lewis? I'm sorry, but you are barred from leaving the country."

Everleigh let out a startled gasp. She never expected this to happen.

She was no criminal and couldn't fathom why she couldn't leave the country of her own free will.

It all seemed strange and confusing.

Everleigh ran a hand through her hair, took a deep breath, and asked, "I'm sorry, could you tell me why I can't leave the country?"

"I'm sorry, ma'am. I don't know the reason. We received a notice that Nancy Lewis from the Klyre Hospital is restricted from leaving the country. If you need any information, please contact your hospital authorities."

Everleigh was rendered speechless.

She stared blankly for a few seconds and finally cursed under her breath.

She didn't need to find out what happened.

It was obvious Weldon was behind this.

She couldn't believe he was powerful here as well.

The man ruined her life no matter where she went. It surprised her to know he managed to act swiftly. He even contacted the airline to prevent her from leaving the country.

However, what terrified her most was that Weldon had found out so soon that she was flying to Japan.

Everleigh was seething with rage. She felt dizzy.
