Chapter 2 Nancy Lewis And Her Kids

Five years passed after that day.

Everleigh was in a famous hospital in Prario.

She was in a meeting room, wearing the doctor's scrubs, looking at the case analysis report as she spoke to the medical experts.

Her hair was short and styled elegantly. The natural makeup seemed to accentuate her flawless skin and perfect features. Her eyes dazzled like diamonds.

"I'm sorry, Dr. Lewis. You mean this patient doesn't need surgery because you can cure her with traditional needle therapy?"

"Yes, if you believe me."

Everleigh flipped through the medical records with a small smile on her face.

She was Nancy Lewis now.

Everleigh didn't die in the hospital. The obstetrician had saved her life five years ago. She had pleaded with the doctor to announce that she was dead.

She would rather die than return to the Harris family.

Later, she came here and used the traditional treatment skills passed down to her from the ancestors of the Lewis family to get a job as a doctor.

The people in the conference room were skeptical when they heard her conclusion.

But Everleigh didn't have the time to wait for their response. She glanced at the watch in her hand and excused herself before leaving the conference room.

"Dr. Lewis, are you leaving to pick up your kids?" one of her colleagues asked as she hurriedly descended the stairs.

"Yeah." Everleigh smiled.

She was leaving to pick up her babies.

Ten minutes later, she arrived at a local kindergarten.

"Mommy, you're finally here! I've been waiting for you for a century."

As soon as Everleigh reached the gate, a little girl in a pink dress and with top-knot buns squealed and ran excitedly to her.

Everleigh immediately got out of the car.

"Sorry, it got late. I promise to be on time from now on."

"It's okay. Brother was with me. He just brought a lot of snacks for me."

The little girl, Millie Lewis, smiled sweetly at her mother as the latter hugged her.

Everleigh's heart fluttered with joy.

Millie's brother, the other child of hers, was a considerate boy who always took good care of his sister.

Everleigh smiled. "Really? Let's go and find your brother, okay?"

"Okay, Mommy."

A few minutes later, Everleigh found her son.

However, she was baffled when she saw that her son was surrounded by teachers. Everleigh couldn't comprehend why he was in the staff room.

"Oh my God! This boy looks exactly like our Sam."

"Yes, they resemble a lot!"

A teacher placed a photo beside Samuel Lewis's face, comparing his features and those of the other boy.

Samuel glanced at the photo with his mischievous eyes.

"I don't think so. Is his face as round as mine?"

"Not really."

"Is he as cute as me? Check the picture again. Do you really think he looks like me?"

Samuel grinned and leaned toward his teachers.

All the teachers burst out laughing, for they realized the boy in the photo looked nothing like the boy pouting at them.

The boy in the photo was no older than Samuel but looked pensive and indifferent like an adult. He was not at all as adorable as Samuel.

"What are you doing there, Sam?" Everleigh asked when she saw what was going on.

"Mommy! Mommy, you are here! I didn't do anything."

Samuel was quick to react. As soon as he heard his mother's voice, he smiled and jumped off the desk he had been sitting on.

He couldn't contain his grin.

Samuel bore an uncanny resemblance to Weldon but had a warm and kind disposition. He had never been cold and indifferent like that man but always greeted everyone with a smile.
