The smile on the Sellecks' faces gradually froze as they all glared at Randolph.

With a trembling finger, Erica pointed at him and shouted, "You're nothing but a rapist, Randolph! How dare you say something like that? You're just a nobody that everyone in Crystalville hates! Don't think you're some big shot just because you stayed in abroad for a few years!"

Even Brinley frowned at his words. She didn't expect that Randolph would say something like that.

Although she knew that Randolph did it for her, she still didn't like how he took credit for what other people had done.

Meade waved his hand magnanimously. "Guys, it's okay. After all, Randolph is Brinley's boyfriend. As a man, it's only natural for him to show off in front of his beloved woman. What's more, today is Mr. Selleck's birthday. I can see why he wants to take credit for what I did. Let's simply play along and pretend that he was the one behind the transfer. It doesn't bother me at all!"

As he spoke, the sarcastic expression on Meade's face grew more obvious. Then, he looked at Randolph with a contemptuous sneer.

Meade's words seemed to have convinced everyone that he was really the one who had transferred the five million dollars.

It made perfect sense!

Kabir pointed at Randolph and scolded, "What excuse do you have now, huh?"

"It's so ridiculous for you to take credit for what Mr. Curtis has done in front of him!" Effie chimed in sarcastically.

The couple echoed each other's sentiments, making Kieran and Julissa so embarrassed that they wished for the floor to swallow them whole.

Kieran stepped forward and grabbed Randolph by the collar. "You loser! Apologize to Mr. Curtis now and get the hell out of here!" he shouted.

Despite that, Randolph remained perfectly still.

Seeing his calm and collected expression, Julissa grew even more furious. "Shame on you! I want to slap you to death!" she cursed.

As all of this happened, Brinley's heart began to race. She ran between Randolph and her parents and forced an awkward smile.

"Randolph was just joking. He just wanted to stand up for me. Please don't take his words seriously," Brinley defended Randolph.

Hearing this, Meade felt his heart sink. Even after everything that had happened, he couldn't believe that Brinley was still willing to protect Randolph.

With what Brinley had said, it should now be impossible for the Selleck family to drive Randolph away.

So, Meade pretended to be generous again and said, "Forget it. Why do we have to ruin such a momentous occasion just because of a silly trifle? I came here with good news."

Everyone turned their attention to him, intrigued with what he had to say.

"Mayor Neal Bates is going to entertain a big shot tomorrow."

The entire Selleck family's eyes widened in surprise as they continued to stare at Meade, waiting with bated breath for what he was about to say next.

Seeing this, Meade let the silence hang in the air for a while before saying, "I paid a great price to know this inside information. This big shot is the president of the Royaltune Group. He just returned from abroad today."

As he said this, Meade felt even more complacent.

"This person occupies a prominent position internationally. The mayor has requested all the senior officials in Crystalville to attend the welcome banquet. Not only that, but he's also inviting all the big families in Crystalville to attend so that they can meet this big shot in person and prevent any inadvertent future offense."

A chorus of astonished gasps rang in the air.

If the mayor was willing to come in person just to entertain him, how influential was this president?

She didn't know that the president had been aboard this entire time and only came back today.

"I know what you are thinking," Meade continued with a huge grin. "This time, the Royaltune Group will invest in a project worth one billion dollars in Crystalville. The best part is that every family in the city has an opportunity to participate in the process by submitting their bid proposals."

His words rippled like a shockwave throughout the entire Selleck family, causing them to hold their breaths in excitement.

If all families were allowed to bid, that meant they could also participate.

This could be a great opportunity for them to rise and flourish!
