Chapter 8 The Birthmark

Kaylee also deliberately spoken in a low, hoarse voice so that no one could tell what Tide's gender was.

"Show me the way," she said gruffly.

Not long after Kaylee entered the room, Keegan, who had been in a coma woke up. His vitals also improved significantly.

Molly was overjoyed. She thanked Tide repeatedly with tears in her eyes.

Kaylee was about to prescribe some medicine for Keegan when Molly suddenly held Gemma's hand and gushed, "Gemma, I'm so glad you're friends with Tide. You're well-connected, aren't you?"

Blushing faintly, Gemma behaved like a proper lady from a prominent family and said softly, "I'm flattered, Mrs. Reynolds, but I just met Tide by chance."

Overhearing the conversation between the two, a snicker appeared on Kaylee's face.

It was payback time!

After writing down the prescription, Kaylee walked up to Molly and said with a big grin, "Mrs. Reynolds, is this your daughter? She's beautiful."

Upon hearing this, the smile on Gemma's face froze.

Molly was also stunned. "Aren't you friends with Gemma?"

Eyebrows raised, Kaylee shook her head. "Huh? This is my first time to meet her."

Molly's confused gaze darted between Kaylee and Gemma. "Er, Gemma said she invited you here."

Ignoring the pleading look on Gemma's face, Kaylee continued to humiliate her mercilessly. "That's not true. I always heard good things about Mr. Reynolds—that he's a kind-hearted man who has done a lot of charitable acts, so I've come to admire him. When I found out that he was ill, I came to to see if I could be of any help."

An awkward silence fell over the room.

Gemma didn't expect that Tide would deny knowing her. She hurriedly fumbled for an excuse, stammering, "W-well... A friend of mine knows you, Tide. I asked her to make an appointment with you. She even showed me your pendant token."

Kaylee laughed wildly in her heart, but she still pretended to be confused. "What're you talking about, young lady? Nobody has made an appointment with me."

Gemma was completely dumbfounded. "What? How could that be? I..."

Kaylee emphasized, "Like I said, I came here on my own accord."

Technically, Kaylee wasn't lying. She herself was Tide. She wouldn't make an appointment with herself!

Realization hit Gemma like a brick wall. Kaylee must've tricked her into returning the necklace. The bitch never knew Tide at all!

Kaylee cheated her!

Gemma was both angry and anxious. She didn't know how to explain.

It gradually dawned on Molly that Gemma was lying when she said that she was friends with Tide.

Molly was always frank and forthright. She hated these kinds of immoral deeds the most, so she asked a servant to kick Gemma out of her home.

"Miss Hadley, you'd better not come back. We don't welcome people like you here."

Red-faced, Gemma ran out of the Reynolds family's house in tears after making a fool of herself.

This was all Kaylee's fault!

Gemma's eyes burned with anger. She wished she could tear Kaylee into pieces on the spot.

Gritting her teeth, she took out her phone and dialed Kaylee's number, only to be greeted by a cold, mechanical voice. "Sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service..."

Letting out a frustrated scream, Gemma threw her phone on the ground and swore to make Kaylee pay for what she had done!

In the living room of the Reynolds family's villa.

As soon as Gemma was kicked out, Molly turned her attention to Kaylee. She held Kaylee's hand and thanked her repeatedly, "Thank you! Oh, thank you so much for saving my husband."

Kaylee nodded politely. "You're welcome, Mrs. Reynolds. I'm just doing my job. After all, the goal of studying medicine is to cure people's illnesses."

"Wait right here please." Molly excused herself and hurried upstairs. When she came back, she was holding an exquisite, ancient jewelry box. Inside lay a dazzling emerald ring, which looked extremely valuable.

Molly pressed the jewelry box into Kaylee's hand and solemnly promised, "If you need anything in the future, you can always come to us. No matter what, I'll do everything I can to help you."

Kaylee was about to shake her head, but Molly was so sincere that Kaylee didn't have the heart to refuse her.

In the end, she accepted Molly's gift and thanked her for her generosity.

With the ring in her hand, Kaylee pretended to ask casually, "I've heard that the Reynolds Group and the Stephens Group have cooperated for many years, and that they're good partners. Did Mr. Reynolds attend the recent wedding in the Stephens family as a witness?"

Since Kaylee had saved Keegan's life, Molly was willing to tell Kaylee everything she knew. "Yes, the Reynolds Group and the Stephens Group have cooperated for over a decade now. We're quite close, but we're all businesspeople, so we won't tell each other everything. Besides, the Stephens Group is not as simple as it seems..."

Upon hearing that last bit, Kaylee's expression darkened. "What do you mean, Mrs. Reynolds?"

Molly didn't get involved in the family business, so she shrugged helplessly. "I don't know much about it."

With a serious expression on her face, Kaylee fell into deep thought.

After leaving the Reynolds' household, Kaylee checked into a hotel to change out of her disguise. Then she went back to the Stephens family, and fortunately, both Haisley and Elijah weren't home.

She went back to her room and was about to take a shower.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she took off her clothes, she heard the click of the door, and the next second, the door swung open and Elijah walked in.

Kaylee was in nothing but her underwear, and her smooth skin came into Elijah's view... As well as the rose-shaped birthmark on her back.

This time, Elijah saw it clearly.

Stunned, his pupils shrank.
