Chapter 4 Named Tide

Everyone was so focused on and concerned about Keegan that nobody noticed the change in Kaylee's expression.

Outside Keegan's ward were people from the Reynolds family, the Stephens family, and the Hadley family. Some of them had heard of Tide before.

"I've heard that this Tide person is very mysterious. You can't just hire him with money. You can only meet him by chance, if you're lucky enough. Many people have spent a fortune trying to hire him, but he refused them."

"Actually, I know something about Tide. One of my distant cousins had a strange disease. We consulted countless famous doctors, but none of them were able to cure him. Tide, on the other hand, checked up on him only once, and my cousin recovered soon after. Tide is really amazing!"

The others all immediately became curious. "Really? How'd you get Tide to come check on your cousin?"

The man shook his head and sighed. "I don't know. I just heard that my cousin's family were able to get one of Tide's symbolic tokens—a pendant in the shape of tidal wave. Only if you have this token will Tide give you a chance to see him."

Everyone was talking excitedly about Tide. Standing away from the crowd, Kaylee kept her head down.

Noticing this, Gemma sneered. "You don't understand what they're talking about, do you? Well, what would a bumpkin like you know? You'd better shut up and not make a fool of yourself here, Kaylee."

Kaylee didn't get angry at Gemma's insults. Instead, she deliberately asked, "Do you know about Tide?"

Of course, Gemma would never admit that she didn't know Tide at all, since she wanted to be superior to Kaylee. "Not only do I know Tide, but he's a good friend of mine!"

A sly smile tugged at Kaylee's lips. "Is that so?"

In fact, Kaylee was Tide. How come she never knew that Gemma was her "good friend"?

Gemma nodded firmly. "Of course!"

All of a sudden, Kaylee shrieked excitedly. "What?! Gemma, you know Tide personally? Why didn't you tell us?"

Everyone turned to look at them in shock. "What?! Do you really know Tide personally?"

Even Josie was overjoyed that the spotlight was on her daughter. She linked arms with Gemma and pretended to blame her daughter for being silly. "Gemma, why didn't you tell me that you know Tide?"

Gemma was taken aback by this unexpected development.

How could she know Tide personally? Before now, she didn't even know such a person named Tide existed! She was just making things up to brag in front of Kaylee!

She was cornered. What was she supposed to do now?

Gemma was so anxious that she wanted to clamp her hand over Kaylee's mouth. Her ears turned red and she was so flustered that she didn't know what to do.

Molly rushed over excitedly and grabbed Gemma's hand. "Miss Hadley, do you really know Tide? Are you friends?"

Gemma felt too embarrassed to admit that she was only bragging just now, so she had to bite the bullet and nod.

Desperate, Molly squeezed Gemma's hand and begged her, "Please, Miss Hadley—could you please invite Tide to check on my husband? Our family will definitely reward you handsomely!"

Gemma was so embarrassed and nervous that her forehead broke out in cold sweat. Her mind went completely blank, and her ears buzzed.

Josie, on the other hand, would never let go of the chance to show off. She patted Molly's hand and comforted her, "Mrs. Reynolds, don't worry. Gemma will take care of it."

Now that things had come to this, how could Gemma refuse? She bit her lip and forced a smile, saying, "Of course, Mrs. Reynolds. It's no problem. I'll contact Tide as soon as possible..."

Molly was very grateful to Gemma and thanked her sincerely. Gemma was so embarrassed and guilty, but Josie failed to notice. The latter kept praising Gemma for saving the day.

Josie had always wanted Gemma to marry into a rich family, and now, seeing the way Molly looked at her daughter so eagerly—this sight gave Josie an unprecedented ego boost.

"Oh, Mrs. Reynolds, please don't worry. My daughter's good friends with Tide. I'm sure it'll be easy for her to get Tide to check on Mr. Reynolds."

Hearing her mother unwittingly add fuel to the flame, Gemma wanted to dig a hole in the ground and bury herself in it.

She had no idea who Tide was! How could she invite him to check on Keegan?

Seeing that her goal was achieved, Kaylee turned around and left with a satisfied smile.

Today's wedding festivities ended abruptly because of Keegan's sudden illness.

Keegan was sent back home, and the guests who had come to attend the wedding also left.

When Kaylee was about to go upstairs to change her clothes, she was stopped by Haisley at the staircase.

Haisley was really pissed off today.

Just now, everyone was whispering about Elijah's new bride, and Haisley had overheard them.

As Elijah's sister, she felt so humiliated that her brother was forced to marry such an ugly woman.

With a bunch of keys in her hand, Haisley spat at Kaylee, "You're so ugly. You don't deserve to live with us. Get out!"

Then she stormed off and went back to her room.

Despite Haisley's scathing words, Kaylee was completely unfazed. In fact, she even yawned as Haisley stomped away.

After such a long day, she was so sleepy.

She planned to find an empty bedroom on the first floor, but she quickly found that all the doors were locked after trying several rooms in a row.

Speechless, Kaylee rolled her eyes and went upstairs to the second floor. The first room on the left opened without much effort.

There was no one in the room, and it was clean and tidy. Kaylee looked around in satisfaction.

She lay down on the soft bed and got comfortable. Just as she was closing her eyes, she heard the sound of the door opening.

As soon as Kaylee opened her eyes, she saw Elijah, who was wearing nothing but a bath towel around his waist, coming out of the bathroom.
