Chapter 9 My Status Changed Due To My Pregnancy

The rest of the onlookers scattered like mice. The next moment, only Kallie and Bellamy were left in the corridor.

With one hand in his pocket, Bellamy asked in a growl, "Didn't you hear me?"

This was his ultimatum.

Kallie took a deep breath. She didn't want to quarrel with Bellamy here.

She furtively approached the towering man, but just as she got close to him, the man grabbed her.

His condescending attitude was so oppressive.

Whenever she met Bellamy's ice-cold gaze, she felt as though she was being suffocated.

"Kallie, you're pregnant with my child, yet you dare to flirt with other men?" Bellamy accused her in a gloomy voice while simultaneously tightening his grip on her wrist.

Kallie looked at him calmly and replied, "If that's your definition of flirting, then I've probably flirted with a lot of people by now."

Bellamy laughed angrily. "Kallie, how come I never knew you're so eloquent?"

"It's not too late to figure it out now." Keeping her facial expression neutral, Kallie spoke calmly.

As soon as she said this, she shook off his grip and turned around to leave.

However, when she was about to walk past Bellamy, the latter suddenly grabbed her again.

He pulled her to an abrupt stop.

The next moment, the man's arm was wrapped around her waist.

It was just like what Travis had done just now.

"Are you trying to piss me off?" Bellamy lowered his head and growled.

"No, I wouldn't dare," Kallie replied innocently.

As she spoke, she broke free from Bellamy's grip. "My mother's waiting for me. If I don't show up soon, she'll be anxious."

Irene had been suffering from depression, and worse yet, she now had a brain tumor.

The doctors had stressed to Kallie that her mother wouldn't be able to handle any pressure.

In addition, Irene was going to undergo surgery next Monday, so Kallie had to make sure that her mother's mood was stable.

What Kallie said was reasonable. There was nothing Bellamy could say to stop her.

Thus, Kallie nodded at Bellamy and then quickly walked past him.

But unexpectedly, Bellamy followed her. As she quietly made her way to Irene's ward, she kept wondering what Bellamy was up to.

When she arrived at the door to Irene's ward, she saw that Bellamy had no intention of stopping following her.

"What do you want?" Kallie couldn't help but turn around and stand in front of the door protectively, looking at Bellamy warily.

"Can't I visit your mother?" Bellamy asked calmly.

His expression remained unchanged.

Kallie was stunned.

She didn't expect that Bellamy would actually care about Irene.

After all, their marriage was just a deal.

Both of them took what they needed from each other. Bellamy wanted to use her to irritate Hanna, while Kallie wanted money to save her mother.

That was why they never made their marriage public. Even Irene had no idea that her daughter had married Bellamy.

If she did, she probably would've been furious.

After all, Irene hated the Reynolds family.

She also knew about the relationship between Hanna and Bellamy.

If Bellamy just barged into Irene's ward like this, Kallie could only imagine how angry her mother would be.

"No." Kallie refused him without hesitation. "My mother doesn't know about our marriage."

"So you feel ashamed of me, is that it?" Bellamy questioned her aggressively.

Speechless, Kallie pursed her lips.

Under Bellamy's oppressive gaze, she didn't dare to say anything.

She was afraid that he'd punish her, and she couldn't risk getting her mother involved...

"I asked you a question." Bellamy pinched Kallie's chin with his slender fingers and forced her to look up at him.

Kallie cleared her throat awkwardly. "Bellamy Marshall, we reached a deal, didn't we? We agreed not to make our marriage public."

"What did you just call me?" Bellamy asked through gritted teeth. He was clearly pissed.

"Honey..." Kallie corrected herself flatly.

Kallie knew when to yield and when not to.

She softened her expression and tried to coax Bellamy. "My mother really can't afford to get stressed. You can visit her when she has recovered from the operation, okay?"

Her voice was so sweet and calming, and as she spoke, she looked at Bellamy with her clear, beautiful eyes.

However, there was no emotion in her eyes. Simply put, she was just begging Bellamy not to aggravate her mother.

Seeing that Bellamy showed no intention of leaving, Kallie knew she had to resort to another tactic.

She stood on tiptoe and kissed Bellamy's lips. "Please, honey..."

This trick always worked on Bellamy.

And Kallie knew that it would still work this time.

Sure enough, the moment she pulled away from him, she felt that Bellamy's anger had dissipated a lot.

But the man still looked at her with gloomy eyes. "Fine. I'll wait until next week."

"Okay," said Kallie, breathing a sigh of relief.

Just then, Irene's voice came from inside the ward.

Completely ignoring Bellamy, Kallie rushed inside the room.

At 7 o'clock in the evening.

Kallie was simply stalling for time. It wasn't until she was sure that Bellamy had left that she stood up and walked out of the ward.

Fortunately, Irene had fallen asleep earlier.

At this hour, Kallie was a little hungry.

Besides, she was pregnant, so she felt that the baby was also hungry. Pouting, she felt guilty for being such a bad mother.

But the moment she opened the door, she was surprised by the scene that greeted her.

Bellamy was leaning against the wall, waiting for her quietly.

The moment she came out, Bellamy looked at her and said, "If you didn't come out just now, I would've broken into the ward."

Kallie was speechless.

Seeing Bellamy walking towards her, Kallie pursed her lips with uncertainty. "Why are you still here?"

"Is it so wrong for me to wait for my wife?" Bellamy retorted calmly.

Hearing Bellamy call her "his wife", Kallie felt her heart beat faster.

And before she could come to her senses, Bellamy had already reached for her hand.

In a daze, Kallie lowered her head to see her petite hand enveloped in his big palm.

They had been married for three years, but Bellamy had never held her hand like this. Any semblance of tenderness she had seen in Bellamy had always been aimed at Hanna.

Bellamy was only intimate with Kallie in bed.

But Kallie forced herself to sober up. She knew that Bellamy was just looking for a substitute for Hanna.

And she was well aware that she was the substitute.

But now-

Raising her head, Kallie asked bitterly, "Do you take me as Hanna now?"

Hearing that, Bellamy frowned and studied Kallie's sullen expression. The look in Bellamy's eye was somewhat unfathomable, making it hard for others to guess what was on his mind.

Just when Kallie was beginning to think that Bellamy wouldn't answer her question, the man's deep voice pulled her back to reality.

"I know who you are. I just don't want my child to be hungry," Bellamy said icily.

Hand-in-hand, Bellamy led her to his car.

After a moment of silence, Kallie chuckled and reflected, "It seems that my status has changed due to my pregnancy."

She sneered.

Bellamy didn't say a word. He simply opened the door for Kallie and gestured for her to get in. Then he quickly hopped onto the driver's seat and drove away.

The two didn't talk all throughout the drive.

And to say the meal they shared was awkward would be an understatement.

After dinner, Bellamy dropped Kallie off at the sanatorium.

When they were in the elevator, his secretary, Rosie, called. There was an issue at the company, so Bellamy had to rush back to deal with it.

Kallie held her breath as she eavesdropped on Bellamy's conversation with Rosie, hoping that Bellamy would leave as soon as possible.

At this moment, there was a sudden loud bang.

The elevator shook violently, and then the lights went out in an instant.

Kallie screamed. Acting on sheer instinct, she squatted down and curled into a ball.

She was afraid of the dark and was claustrophobic.

"Kallie?" Bellamy, on the other hand, quickly came to his senses.

The call was disconnected at once.

Bellamy squatted down and wrapped Kallie in a warm embrace. "Don't be afraid. I'm right here with you."
