Chapter 8 My Wife Is Still Single

Bellamy was speechless.

He had always been the dominant one in this marriage.

But now, he couldn't help but doubt himself.

After a long time, Bellamy broke the silence and said coldly, "Whatever."

Then he loosened his grip on her arm.

Without so much as glancing at him, Kallie headed for the door. Suddenly, just as she was reaching for the door knob, she stopped in her tracks.

"Don't worry. I'll still be your wife during the pregnancy," Kallie said calmly. "But we'll divorce as soon as the baby's born."

After saying that, she opened the door and walked out unhurriedly.

Hearing what Kallie said, Bellamy tensed up instantly.

As soon as Kallie closed the door behind her, Bellamy angrily swept all the things on the table onto the ground.

He pulled the collar of his shirt irritably as he surveyed the mess he'd made.

Just then, Bellamy's phone rang, and the irritable man suddenly quieted down.

Kallie, who had just closed the door to the office, heard the familiar ringtone.

She didn't even need to look at the caller ID to know that it was Hanna calling.

Over the past few years, she had heard this specific ringtone many times.

Because Bellamy had assigned Hanna this ringtone long ago.

How ironic! Kallie thought to herself.

But she didn't stop, not even for a second.

Nor did Bellamy chase after her.

Bellamy glanced at the caller ID and quickly answered the phone, but he didn't take the initiative to speak.

After a while, a soft voice sounded from the other end of the line. "Bellamy... Thank you so much for helping me."

Bellamy replied perfunctorily, "You're welcome."

Hanna was thanking Bellamy because he had sent her to the hospital previously.

"I'm going to be discharged today, and then tomorrow, I'll fly to Thonia. The premiere is going to be held there." Hanna added in a melancholic tone, "But I'll be alone."

"And where will your fiance be?" Bellamy asked with a tight frown.

Bellamy didn't expect that Hanna would return with a fiance.

"He's very busy. Right now, he's on yet another business trip." After a slight pause, Hanna added calmly. "But he's good to me."

Bellamy's expression darkened.

All of a sudden, Hanna sighed. "I just miss you so much. That's why I called."

Bellamy tightened his grip on the phone.

Hanna... How could she say that?

Despite his inner turmoil, Bellamy showed no emotion on his face.

"Bellamy?" Hanna continued in a sweet voice, "It's my premiere. Will you come with me to Thonia? I could use the company."

"Hanna, since you're engaged, it's not appropriate for me to accompany you," Bellamy rejected her indifferently.

Hanna bit her lip and asked aggrievedly, "So, are you going to draw a line between us?"

"Yes. Otherwise, my wife will be unhappy," Bellamy said flatly.

His slender fingers tapped rhythmically on the table.

Hanna knew who his wife was.

But... didn't Bellamy and Kallie get divorced?

"Bellamy, are you just saying that to piss me off?" Hanna demanded.

Bellamy, on the other hand, was still calm and emotionless. "What makes you think that? Hanna, you know what I want. But you keep testing my limit. You've always had the cards, but you gave them up."

Hanna was rendered speechless on the other end of the line.

"And Kallie and I haven't divorced yet," Bellamy added calmly.

"Wh-what?" All of a sudden, Hanna felt a little uncertain of herself.

"Now that she's pregnant, there's no need for us to divorce," Bellamy explained.

As soon as he said this, both ends of the line completely quieted down.

After a long time, Hanna's soft voice broke the silence. "Congratulations. Your grandfather will be very happy, I'm sure. I have to go now. I have to catch my flight."

As soon as Hanna finished speaking, she hung up the phone without giving Bellamy the chance to respond.

There was a glint in Bellamy's deep-set eyes as he looked at his phone.

He felt irritated and depressed again.

In the end, the restless Bellamy grabbed his car keys and left the office.

At Rheingold Sanatorium.

It had been years since the last time Bellamy had driven aimlessly, but somehow, he found himself driving towards Irene's sanatorium.

This came as a surprise to him, since he thought he would chase after Hanna.

But before he could drive onto the expressway to the airport, he had unexpectedly turned the car around.

Before he understood where he was going, Bellamy instinctively drove directly to Rheingold Sanatorium.

As for the reason...

Well, Bellamy didn't want to admit it.

He tried to calm himself down, but no matter what, he couldn't seem to get Kallie off his mind.

And right now, Kallie was in the sanatorium.

Bellamy lowered his head and took a deep breath. Finally, he strode straight into the sanatorium.

The Marshall Group was the largest shareholder of this facility, so all the medical staff knew who Bellamy was.

Naturally, Bellamy was allowed to enter the sanatorium unimpeded.

But the scene that greeted Bellamy was far from his expectation.

A tall and handsome man in a doctor's uniform was bowing his head and whispering something to Kallie seriously.

Kallie smiled at the doctor as she looked up at him.

Her smile was so bright and so... genuine.

"Thank you, Dr. Fuller," Kallie said sincerely. "Thanks to you, my mother's operation will push through next Monday."

"You're welcome." Dr. Travis Fuller was calm.

Just then, a nurse was studying a list of names on her clipboard while pushing a heavy cart over. She didn't notice Kallie and bumped into her accidentally.

Kallie let out a startled cry, and the nurse was also stunned. Travis quickly wrapped his arm around Kallie's waist and pulled her aside, saying, "Be careful."

"Oh, thank you." Kallie patted her heaving chest, still in a state of shock.

Travis didn't say anything more, nor did he remove his arm from Kallie's waist.

Instead, he held Kallie aside to make way for the nurse, like a proper gentleman.

The nurse apologized to them in a hurry. "I'm sorry, Miss Howard."

"Don't worry about it," Kallie said with a smile.

At this moment, the air suddenly dropped several hundred degrees. An icy-cold voice rang out, saying "'Miss Howard', huh?"

Hearing the voice, Kallie suddenly tensed up.

As soon as she raised her head, she met Bellamy's indifferent gaze.

Kallie felt her scalp tingling under the man's intent stare.

The nurse also recognized Bellamy. "M-Mr. Marshall..."

Travis raised his eyebrows, but otherwise, he looked completely calm.

"How come I didn't know that my wife is single?" Bellamy's voice boomed across the corridor.

Everyone who overheard him burst into an uproar.

Even Kallie turned pale with shock.

After all, her marriage with Bellamy had always been a secret.

In the sanatorium, only Irene's attending doctor and a few senior leaders knew that Kallie was Bellamy's wife.

But now, for the first time in their three-year marriage, Bellamy actually announced their marriage in public.

For a moment, Kallie was lost in thought.

Travis turned to look down at Kallie, who was still in his arms.

Kallie smiled at him awkwardly, but she didn't explain.

"Come here," Bellamy ordered in an ice-cold voice.

However, Kallie didn't move a muscle. In an attempt to ease her embarrassment, Travis withdrew his arm and said calmly, "Go ahead with your work. Call me if you need anything. I'll be in my office."

"Okay," Kallie replied stiffly.

Then, after giving her a reassuring look, Travis left.

Without so much as glancing at Bellamy, he went straight to his office.
