Chapter 7 Honey, It Hurts

"Never forget that you're only-and will always be-Hanna's substitute." Bellamy made himself clear.

As he spoke, he observed Kallie's face carefully, fully expecting to see a change in her expression.

But to his surprise, Kallie broke into a smile. "What a coincidence!"

The indifference in her tone was like nails on a chalkboard to Bellamy's ears.

Bellamy narrowed his eyes at Kallie dangerously, wondering what this little girl was up to.

Kallie sneered. "I don't love you either."

This time, it was Bellamy's face that changed dramatically.

"You know that I'm the illegitimate daughter of the Reynolds family. They've always tried to hide me like they're ashamed of me. My heart therefore, is filled with nothing but resentment. I always wanted to take everything from Hanna..." While saying that, Kallie seemed to be thinking about something that excited her.

After a slight pause, she said with flourish, "Maybe I just take delight in her suffering. Maybe I just love taking things that're supposed to be hers. When she's upset and you feel sorry for her, I feel happy. Because I really, really hate her."

Then she locked eyes with him and continued, "And I hate you, Bellamy!"

She knew that Bellamy would punish her severely for what she had said.

But being forced against a wall, she had no choice but to fight.

She had always been alone in bearing these problems, and no one knew how hurt she was.

Even if she was going to hell, she was determined to take Bellamy with her.

Finally, she would give him a taste of his own medicine.

Even though Bellamy stared daggers at her, Kallie did not flinch.

Bellamy could do whatever he wanted to hurt her. She didn't give a damn.

"Kallie..." Bellamy's tone was threatening, his fists clenched tightly.

However, Kallie didn't stop provoking him. "I'm pregnant with your child now. You don't want to let Hanna suffer through childbirth. But you forgot one thing-that this child is a huge slap to her face. The very evidence that you cheated on her!"

After saying this, Kallie burst into cold laughter.

Kallie, who usually looked pure and innocent, now looked like an angry porcupine, her spines pricked up.

She looked about ready to attack anyone in sight.

Bellamy sneered.

No one in Violetmage dared to talk to him like that.

However, Kallie was the exception.

"Kallie," Bellamy said again in a warning tone.

"Yes?" Kallie answered calmly.

"I dare you to say that again," Bellamy said through gritted teeth.

This was clearly a threat. Bellamy had no intention of hearing her scathing words again. He just wanted to give her a chance to take it back.

However, Kallie didn't compromise. She opened her mouth and repeated herself, her voice clear as day.

Bellamy had never dealt with someone so arrogant before.

The next second, he grabbed her by the neck.

"Shut the fuck up," he hissed through gritted teeth.

Kallie didn't say anything more-but it was only because she was being strangled by Bellamy.

Her face turned red from suffocation in an instant.

Her lungs screamed for oxygen, and she clawed at Bellamy's arms desperately.

As stars dotted her vision, she truly believed that Bellamy was going to kill her.

But when she saw the rage in the man's eyes, she felt... weirdly happy.

Bellamy narrowed his eyes at her smiling face and growled, "Kallie, do you really think I won't kill you right now for what you've just said?"

"No... no, I know you will," Kallie managed to croak. Then she added, "Kill me, and your child will also die."

As soon as she said this, Bellamy suddenly withdrew his hands.

Kallie collapsed to the floor and gasped for air, coughing violently.

It took her a long time to recover.

"Fuck off!" Bellamy roared angrily.

"I'll leave as soon as you withdraw my mother's discharge order," Kallie said firmly.

Glowering at her, Bellamy pulled out his phone and called the sanatorium in front of Kallie.

He gave instructions to let Irene stay, and the operation would be performed on time the following week.

Hearing the words come from his mouth, Kallie sighed in relief.

She won the battle...

But what about next time?

She had never felt so exhausted before. Bellamy's oppressive pressure sucked the life out of her.

But she knew very well that this was only the beginning of her difficulties, and that she'd need to stay strong.

At least for the sake of her mother, she couldn't give up.

"Thank you, Mr. Marshall," Kallie said sincerely as soon as the man put down the phone. Any semblance of her arrogance just now vanished.

She knew when to fight and when to lower her head.

But despite her softened expression, there was still a trace of indifference in her attitude. It was apparent that she had long lost her feelings for Bellamy.

This whole thing was now just a deal to Kallie.

Upon seeing her like this, Bellamy's expression darkened.

A strange feeling overwhelmed Bellamy's heart.

He didn't know what was going on, nor did he understand why the woman in front of him had changed into a completely different person.

Ever since Bellamy met Kallie, the latter had always been timid and coy around him.

But he had always seen the love in her eyes whenever she looked at him.

Bellamy didn't know when he started paying attention to Kallie.

But because of Hanna, Bellamy had concealed his feelings for her.

That was until Hanna lost her temper with him and decided to go abroad, leaving Bellamy alone in Violetmage.

It was Kallie who had stayed by his side during those days.

She was always so sweet and considerate to Bellamy.

It was apparent that she truly loved him.

Later, when Bellamy and Hanna had a huge fight, Bellamy married Kallie in an attempt to piss Hanna off.

But unlike him, in the past three years of marriage, Kallie had given her everything to Bellamy.

She couldn't hide her love for him, and she always boldly him "honey" in a soft voice, like a shy and nervous rabbit.

And when it came to sex, he could be rough at times, but she played along and was his obedient girl all the times. She just loved to please him.

How could the timid, loving rabbit that was once Kallie move on so quickly?

It was as if she had never loved him.

"If there's nothing else, I'll visit my mother at the sanatorium." Kallie ignored the perplexed expression on Bellamy's face.

Without waiting for a response, she walked past Bellamy calmly.

But before she could reach the door, the man grabbed her by the wrist and yanked her back.

"Bellamy Marshall, let go of me!" Kallie ordered, frowning tightly.

"What did you just call me?" Bellamy asked in a dangerously low voice.

Bellamy's question left Kallie in a daze for a while.

Her red lips parted slightly, but no words came out of her mouth.

Bellamy looked at her and growled, "Kallie, you're still my wife. You'd better not call me by my full name.

I don't like it."

Sharp-tongued as Kallie was, she simply gave in and said in a flat tone, "Honey, it hurts."

It sounded so perfunctory and emotionless, like a robot.

Bellamy hated the alienating tone in her voice.

"Kallie, if you're not in the villa by tonight, then... You know the consequences." Bellamy's voice was ice-cold.

Unexpectedly, she refused him. "I can't stay in the villa tonight." Frowning, she added, "Actually, not this whole week."

"You..." Bellamy's expression darkened and his chest heaved with anger.

"My mother's operation is next Monday. I have to stay with her in the sanatorium. I don't want anything bad to happen to her in the days leading up to it," Kallie explained.

Looking at Bellamy, she added in a low voice, "If anything happens to my mother, we are over."

Her tone was flat, indifferent but threatening.
