Chapter 5 The Operation

Thirty minutes later, Kallie was wheeled out of the operating room on a gurney.

Thanks to the anesthetic, she had fallen asleep.

Bellamy was pacing back and forth outside. The usually well-dressed man looked a little disheveled now, but that didn't take away from his domineering aura.

When the doctor saw Bellamy, he broke into cold sweat.

Bellamy didn't say anything, but looked sharply at the doctor as the latter furtively approached him.

The doctor reported respectfully, "Mr. Marshall, the patient is now in a stable condition, but you have to make sure she's not stimulated again. Otherwise, she might really lose the baby."

Frowning, Bellamy remained silent for a long time before he finally giving the doctor a slight nod.

"When will she wake up?" Bellamy asked.

"In about ten minutes," the doctor answered promptly.

Bellamy didn't say anything more. He turned around and walked towards Kallie's ward.

With the man's back turned to him, the doctor wiped the cold sweat on his forehead. Talking to Bellamy Marshall was so scary.

The doctor had certainly heard about the gossip surrounding Bellamy. Fortunately, he had worked in Rheingold Hospital for a long time and knew that it was inappropriate to inquire about the affairs of the rich.

He took a deep breath and quickly headed back to his office.

Just as Bellamy was opening the door to the ward, Kallie's eyelashes started to flutter.

When she opened her eyes, she immediately met Bellamy's. Her mind went blank for a moment, but soon, she recalled what had happened.

Her hand subconsciously reached for her flat belly. Intuitively, she thought she had lost the baby.

She had always planned to abort the baby, since Bellamy was going to be with Hanna. If Hanna found out that Bellamy's ex-wife was pregnant, she would've broken things off with him.

Still, Kallie felt guilty for the baby.

"Does it still hurt?" Bellamy asked in a gruff, indifferent voice as he walked over to the bedside.

Kallie shook her head. "Thank you for your concern, but I'm fine. You don't have to stay. I'll ask someone to pick me up later."

It was just a miscarriage, so she figured that she didn't need to be hospitalized.

She had even also asked for a week's leave from the company. After getting some rest, she could go back to work.

Upon hearing her shoo him away, Bellamy's expression darkened. He glowered at her angrily.

"You don't want to have my baby, is that it?" Bellamy demanded icily.

"Why are you mad?" Kallie shot back with an innocent expression. "Neither of us want the baby, right?"

"You..." Bellamy was speechless.

They had been married for three whole years, but Kallie had never been so sharp-tongued with him before. Throughout their marriage, she had always been as meek and gentle as a lamb.

But now, her tone was heavy with sarcasm.

Kallie took a deep breath to calm herself down and then tried to reason with him. "The baby's gone, okay? You don't need to stay here. After all, Miss Reynolds is still waiting for you."

Bellamy's eyes became more gloomy at the mention of Hanna.

"As for what happened earlier... I'll pretend that it never happened. You don't have to worry about it." Kallie spoke concisely, intent on making herself clear.

However, Bellamy suddenly blurted, "Kallie, the baby is still alive."

Kallie's jaw went slack.

Mixed emotions filled her heart-shock, surprise, and something else... Joy perhaps?

Kallie had thought that she had lost the baby after that massive hemorrhage.

And she figured that Bellamy would never want her baby.

She had feared that even if she kept the baby and gave birth to it, Bellamy would still find a way to get rid of it behind her back.

After all, the baby was a ticking time bomb for him.

But now, contrary to her expectations, the man was extremely calm. He even stopped her to say that the baby was still alive.

"Bellamy..." Kallie looked at him, at a loss.

Bellamy just stood there, looking down at her. Then he opened his mouth and said slowly, "I want you to give birth to the baby."

This made Kallie even more stunned.

Was this man out of his mind?

"No way," Kallie refused without hesitation.

She didn't want to be in a love triangle anymore. It was too exhausting.

Moreover, Bellamy didn't even have feelings for her. Having his baby while his heart was elsewhere would only put her in a more difficult situation.

Kallie didn't want his pity.

As these thoughts swirled around in her head, she sobered up quickly.

"You don't want to have my baby?" With a dangerous look in his eyes, Bellamy grabbed her by the chin and forced her to looked up at him.

Kallie felt pain, but she refused to wince in front of this man. "Of course I don't want it. I'd be crazy if I kept your baby."

This time, Bellamy didn't respond. He just looked at her sullenly.

His grip on her jaw tightened, and Bellamy's voice rang out. "Kallie, you have no choice. You have to give birth to this baby."

"I said no. We're divorced. I refuse to carry your baby. Besides, it's my body. You can't stop me!" Kallie refuted stubbornly.

Bellamy sneered. "Kallie, as long as I give an order, no doctor in Violetmage will abort the baby in your belly."

"You-!" Kallie's pale face turned livid with anger.

Just then, Bellamy's phone rang again. It was still Hanna calling. This time, Bellamy didn't hesitate to answer it. "Hello?"

"Bellamy, I'm really not feeling well. Why haven't you come back yet?" Hanna's asked pitifully. "I feel like I'm about to... About to..."

The next second, before Bellamy could speak, Hanna's voice trailed off and there was a sound of something heavy falling on the ground from the other end of the line.

Bellamy's face changed.

The next second, Bellamy turned around and walked out of the ward without looking back.

Kallie watched him leave. She lowered her head and sneered with a bitter smile.

Why should she have Bellamy's baby?

It was ridiculous!

Less than an hour after Bellamy left the hospital, Kallie also left.

The next day, she showed up in the hospital again. The appointment for her procedure didn't change just because of yesterday's accident.

Looking at the pale-faced doctor standing in front of her, Kallie immediately felt that something was off.

"I'm sorry, but I can't perform this operation for you. Please find someone else," the doctor said with trepidation.

Kallie didn't say anything. She didn't even need to ask him why.

She knew clearly who was behind this.

Only Bellamy could be so powerful. After all, the Marshall family was the top clan of Violetmage. No one dared to disobey an order from them, let alone a mere doctor.

Kallie's expression instantly darkened.
