Chapter 8 Lie Exposed

Meanwhile, Gemma's anxiety had been gnawing at her stomach. Because she bragged that she knew Tide, she had to do whatever it took to find this mysterious doctor-even if it meant paying a lot of money just for information. However, no matter where she looked, she couldn't find anything useful about Tide.

One day, she received a strange call. She was told that if she wanted to know about Tide, she had to go to Splendine Cafe.

Gemma couldn't say no to any chance of finding Tide, so she hurried to the agreed upon place without hesitation.

Unexpectedly, when she arrived, it was Kaylee who was waiting for her there. Kaylee was leisurely drinking coffee at a table.

Gemma gritted her teeth angrily. She didn't believe that Kaylee knew anything about Tide, so Kaylee must've called her here as a prank to waste her precious time. "Kaylee! How dare you try to fool me?"

"I do know something about Tide," Kaylee said.

Gemma wrinkled her nose scornfully. "How could a bumpkin like you know anything about Tide?"

Smiling, Kaylee held up a wave-shaped pendant. "This is Tide's token. You recognize it, right? With this token, you can get Tide to see Mr. Reynolds."

Gemma's eyes widened as soon as she saw the pendant in Kaylee's hand. Without thinking, she reached out to snatch it. "Give it to me!" she shrieked.

After the wedding banquet, Gemma had heard that Tide indeed had a symbolic token-a wave-shaped pendant. She couldn't believe that Kaylee really knew something about Tide.

Kaylee nimbly dodged Gemma's advances and said slowly, "I'm not just going to give it to you for free. I'm not a Hadley, remember? And I'm not kind enough to just help you out of the goodness of my heart."

Gemma hated Kaylee with a passion. In her eyes, begging Kaylee for help was worse than dying. But now she could only swallow her anger and pride as she muttered, "What do you want?"

"It's simple. Give me back my necklace," Kaylee said calmly.

Gemma had taken Kaylee's sapphire necklace because she knew that it was very precious to Kaylee. Now that Kaylee wanted her to return it, and she was even more unwilling.

Kaylee had stolen Gemma's position as the daughter of the Hadley family for so many years. Didn't she deserve to keep the necklace?

Instead of agreeing, Gemma said, "I'll return the necklace to you after you make Tide go see Mr. Reynolds."

Knowing what was on Gemma's mind, Kaylee didn't flinch. "If you don't return the necklace to me now, I'll go to the Lamberts. I heard that their daughter spent a ton of money looking for Tide. I'd rather make the deal with her. Oh, she also has a huge crush on Harland Reynolds. I wonder if Mrs. Reynolds will let her marry Harland after she saves old Mr. Reynolds..."

Upon hearing this, Gemma's face fell. She was trying so hard to find Tide because she too wanted to impress and marry Harland. She couldn't let anyone get ahead of her!

Knowing that Kaylee didn't have the guts to lie to her, Gemma reluctantly agreed to her terms. She went back home, fetched the necklace, and gave it back to Kaylee.

The necklace was exquisitely carved with simple yet elegant patterns. There was a slight layer of patina, as if it had been passed down for many generations. Kaylee had had it with her ever since she was in the orphanage.

After taking the necklace, Kaylee inspected it carefully and found nothing wrong. Then she told Gemma that Tide would show up at the Reynolds' at eight o'clock the following morning.

The next day, Molly and Gemma waited for Tide excitedly.

Wearing a wig and a mask on her face, Kaylee showed up at the house of the Reynolds as Tide.

She deliberately lowered her voice, making it hard for people to figure out whether Tide was actually a man or a woman.

"Show me the patient."

Not long after Kaylee entered the room and get started, Keegan, who had been in a coma for days, woke up. Additionally, there was some color in his cheeks, which indicated that his condition was getting better.

Molly was overjoyed and thanked Tide profusely.

While Kaylee was prescribing medicine for Keegan, Molly held Gemma's hand and praised, "Gemma, you're amazing! Thank you so much for bringing Tide here!"

Gemma smiled shyly. "I'm flattered, Mrs. Reynolds. I happened to meet Tide by chance."

Eavesdropping on the conversation between the two, Kaylee secretly snickered.

It was time to make a fool of Gemma!

After prescribing the medicine, Kaylee walked up to Molly and said with a smile, "Mrs. Reynolds, is this your daughter? She's so beautiful."

Upon hearing this, Gemma's smile froze.

Molly was also stunned. "Don't you know Gemma?"

Tilting her head to the side to feign a look of confusion, Kaylee shook her head deliberately. "It's my first time seeing this young lady."

Molly's expression darkened. Gemma had lied to her. She turned around and glared at Gemma coldly, saying, "Gemma said that she invited you here."

Ignoring the pleading look on Gemma's face, Kaylee said, "That's not true. I received calls from many people saying that Mr. Reynolds is sick. I heard that Mr. Reynolds is a kind philanthropist, and I admire him very much, so I decided to treat him. I wasn't invited by this young lady here-whoever she is."
