Chapter 4 Tide

The Stephens immediately summoned Atheton's best doctors to examine Keegan. Everyone was waiting for the results with bated breath when the doctors finally came out.

They all looked grim. The doctor in the lead announced that Keegan's condition was something they had never seen before, and that it was incurable.

The doctor said, "Mr. Reynolds' condition is rapidly worsening, but I'm afraid there's nothing we can do. I'm sorry."

Molly Reynolds-Keegan's wife, cried her eyes out. "If even the best doctors in Atheton can't cure him, then what're we supposed to do?"

After thinking for a while, one of the doctors said, "There's this doctor of alternative medicine-no one knows his real name, and we all just call him Tide. He specializes in all sorts of tricky diseases. If he sees Mr. Reynolds, there's a chance he can still be cured."

Upon hearing this, Molly's eyes lit up with hope. "So where is this doctor now? We'll go and invite him over now. Don't worry about the money; we'll pay whatever he asks!"

At the mention of the name "Tide", Kaylee coughed lightly and touched her neck awkwardly.

But everyone was so focused on Keegan that nobody noticed her strange behavior.

Outside the ward, there were also people who had also heard of Tide before.

"I've heard that Tide is very reclusive. Many people spent a lot of money trying to convince him to go out on home visits, but he refused almost them all."

"One of my distant relatives had a strange disease once. Even the best doctors couldn't cure him. But Tide only treated him once, and he was cured. He is really awesome!"

The others's curiosity was immediately sparked. "Really? How did your relatives even manage to convince Tide to come in the first place? What did they do?"

The man shook his head. "I heard that they got their hands on Tide's token-a pendant in the shape of waves. Tide only agrees to see patients who are able to present the token pendant."

Everyone was talking about it excitedly. Standing at the edge of the crowd, Kaylee kept her head down.

Seeing Kaylee like this, Gemma sneered loudly. "You don't understand what they're talking about, do you? You bumpkin! Just get out of here so you won't make a fool of yourself."

Instead of getting angry, Kaylee asked Gemma deliberately, "You know the doctor they're talking about?"

Of course, Gemma would never admit in front of Kaylee that she didn't know anything about Tide, so she said haughtily, "Not only do I know Tide, he's a good friend of mine!"

Kaylee raised her eyebrow indifferently. "Is that so?"

Kaylee was Tide herself. Since when was Gemma her good friend?

Gemma nodded firmly. "Of course!"

Kaylee's eyes flashed mischievously. In a loud voice, she suddenly exclaimed, "What?! Gemma, you're good friends with Tide? Why didn't you tell us sooner?"

Hearing this, everyone turned to look at the two girls in shock. "What? She knows Tide?"

Even Josie was overjoyed. She held Gemma's hand and blabbered, "Gemma, why didn't you tell me that you know Tide? You silly girl!"

Gemma's face froze.

How the hell could she be good friends with this Tide person? Before today, she didn't even know about Tide's existence! She was just bragging in front of Kaylee!

What should she do now?

Gemma was so anxious that her cheeks turned red. She was so flustered and didn't know what to do.

Molly rushed over excitedly, grabbed Gemma's hands, and asked, "Miss Hadley, do you really know Tide personally?"

There was no way in hell Gemma would admit that she was just bluffing in front of so many important people, so she had to bite the bullet and nod.

Seeing this, Molly begged Gemma desperately, "Could you please invite him over to cure my husband? We will be forever grateful to you!"

Gemma broke out in cold sweat and her mind went completely blank.

Of course, Josie wouldn't let go of any chance to show off. She held Molly's hand and comforted her complacently. "Mrs. Reynolds, don't worry. Gemma will help you for sure!"

At a loss, Gemma had no choice but to force a smile. "Okay... I'll ask Tide to come over..."
