Chapter 5 AMBUSHED

The weekend had come again. Both Emma and Nicole laid on Nicole's bed with only really large, white t-shirts on, watching a horror movie on her laptop.

"She's totally gonna die here..." Nicole said, staring at the screen. The character in the movie had gotten into a strange cab that drove her to an empty street.

"Oh no, he has a scythe. Is he like... A representation of death?" Emma asked. Nicole had watched the movie many times, but it was a first for Emma. "Yup, I knew it. There goes her head..." Nicole said. "Of course you knew it. You've watched this movie like... A bazillion times already," Emma replied, pulling a small bucket of popcorn to herself.

Nicole grabbed the bucket's base and pulled on it also. Both girls turned to each other, and squinted their eyes.

Suddenly, they both started to pull on the bucket. "I had my hands on it first!" Nicole yelled, and Emma replied, sounding a little annoyed, "You clearly saw my hand on the bucket before your dirty fingers touched it!" As they pulled harder and harder, popcorn scattered all over the ground. They finally tore the plastic bucket in two, and Emma accidentally hit the laptop.

The laptop fell to the ground with a loud thud, its screen cracked, and it went completely black.

Emma slowly turned to Nicole, "I'm... So sorry!" She said, Nicole stared at the laptop for a few seconds, then turned to Emma with a pissed off look on her face.

"I'll pay for the laptop. I'll order a new one. Please... Don't kill me," Emma said, raising both her palms to block her face.

Suddenly Nicole burst into laughter, and said, "This isn't what I was expecting from someone who attacked a large man with a wine bottle. Don't worry about the laptop, I have tons of them..."

Tons of them? Emma knew Nicole was a rich girl, but never really questioned her about where she got all her money. "How do you make money to buy these things?" Emma asked. Nicole stared at her for a moment, then replied with a serious look on her face, "... I have really wealthy Sugar Daddies."

"Daddies?" Emma asked, surprised at the fact that she shamelessly used a plural form of the word, then Nicole replied, "Yeah, like 5 of them. They send me thousands of dollars every week."

"Wow, that's... Great..." Emma said at a loss for words to describe how surprised she was that her friend of all people had sugar daddies. Nicole burst into another laughing fit, yelling, "I'm joking girl!!"

"What??" Emma asked, a little pissed. Nicole wiped the tear drop that started to gather in her eyes, then said, "Wow, you looked like you were about to ask me to introduce you to one..."

Emma's face turned red as she denied, "No I wasn't!! Quit joking around..."

"It's written all over your face girl. But, seriously, my dad is really wealthy and he sends me tons of cash than I know what to do with because I'm his little princess or whatever..." Nicole said, picking up some of the popcorn that had spilled on the bed.

"You've never told me about your Mom and Dad, what do they do for a living?" Emma asked. Nicole let out a sigh, then said, "Moms dead. My Dad is a busy businessman who moves around the world a lot, so he kept me here where he was sure I would be safe."

"Oh, okay. I hope I get to meet him one day..." Emma said, and Nicole replied, "I hope not! My dad doesn't like me having friends, so he'd hate your guts if he sees you. Might even get you... Erased."

"Oh, wow..." Emma said, surprised. Suddenly, Emma felt a chill go through her body. it was like a cold wind suddenly blew by but instead of touching just her skin, her bones felt it. She turned to Nicole and asked, "Did you feel that?" Nicole looked around, then asked back, "Feel what?"

"Nothing, Never mind," Emma replied, then got off Nicole's bed, saying, "I have to get to work now Nicole, I'll call you when I get home."

"Okay," Nicole replied, Then Emma left, shutting her door with a brief click. Nicole moved her Iris to the left to look at a window that hung on the left side of her room. The light that poured into her room from the window caused her emerald green eyes to sparkle even more than usual. She turned away from the window, shut her eyes, and let out a sigh.

"She's back aye?" A thick male voice came from the darkness of a small room.

The lady Daniel had encountered outside the cafe, stood at the entrance of the room with the same outfit she wore before. Her face was covered by her hat, but her hair extended down to her chest level.

"Yes my lord, Griffith's fate will surely play out on its own, but with the way he is now, I think it's time we played a part in it too..." She replied.

"Yes. Why don't you do the honours of handling the matter, you're my DARK ANGEL after all," The gory voice spoke again. "It would be my pleasure, Master..." She replied, then turned around to leave.

Emma was on her way back home in a cab after a long day of walking around. She had gone out on a muse hunt, looking for inspirations for new dress designs she was going to present to her interviewer.

The cab drove by different streets that led towards Emma's house, but suddenly stopped at an empty, dark road. No cars passed by and all the street lights were off. "What's going on?" Emma asked the driver, but there was no reply.

She reached for the driver's shoulder and tapped repeatedly, hoping he would answer, but it was to no avail.

Suddenly, a growl sounded from the driver seat. "What was that?" Emma asked, and the driver slowly turned around.

His eyes had become blood red, and his teeth, razor sharp fangs. His facial hair grew at an inhumane rate, and his body slowly enlarged. Emma breathed heavily as she watched everything that played out before her.

She recalled the movie she watched with Nicole before, and thought to herself, "Is this the end?"

The top half of the car broke off as the driver's body grew larger and larger until he became an extremely large Wolf man.

He stared at Emma from his height, and then roared loudly in her face. Emma couldn't move any of her limbs as she was frozen with fear.

The large monster picked her from the ground and slowly lowered her toward its mouth. Emma finally found the voice to scream for help. She yelled and yelled but it was all to no avail as the street was completely empty.

Suddenly, a swift whisk of cold wind blew by, and the arm which held Emma fell to the ground. Blood poured out of the severed limb like a water spout as the monster growled in pain.

As Emma fell to the ground, Something seized her midair, and brought her safely down. Her eyes were still shut, as she only waited for her demise.

She slowly opened her eyes to see if she was already in heaven, but met face to face with her knight in shining armour, Daniel.
