Chapter 5 Lover's now

Still at the woman's house

"What did you say your name was again?" The woman asked, still patting her child.

"Rose," Rose replied.

"And you?" She asked while pointing at Mia without giving any reply.

"Mia," Mia replied.

"And you girls are here because my son is dying, and you need me to sign some papers to save his life, I'm I correct?" The woman asked and they nodded their heads in agreement.

"I will never sign those papers no matter what happens, so get out and drop my money on the table before you leave. Your one hour is up" the woman instructed them.

Even Rose, had run out of ideas and she knew that going back and forth with this woman wasn't going to make things better in any way.

As if the scorching sun wasn't enough, the girls had to walk a far distance to get a taxi. They had met a crowd that gathered in a particular spot, Mia could also hear crying.

"I think there has been an accident," Rose told her friend who only nodded her head and they both walked unaffected.

"Help me!! Someone, please help me!" A lady could be heard crying, although Rose couldn't tell who the lady was, lady was very close to the injured guy, he was bleeding so much.

It would take some time before the ambulance would arrive, it is a very remote area so hospitals weren't available so close to the place.

"Scott" Mia exclaimed as she bent down to check his pulse, his heartbeat was reducing.

The lady holding the guy in her arms, while crying bitterly on the floor raised her head to look at Mia.

"Mi..a" Lakshmi stuttered, she found it hard to believe that Mia was standing, well bending right in front of her.

"Mia please do something" Lakshmi cried out to her long-time friend.

Mia had to press on his chest, trying to force his heart to beat again.

The more she was doing it, the more Scott was losing blood but her efforts weren't completely in vain, at least his heartbeat was now stable.

The ambulance arrived just in time, Mia helped to put him in the ambulance and Lakshmi flagged a taxi to go with them.

Lakshmi wasn't getting it. How could this have happened to her now? Just now when she was about to be happy, with the one she loved? She cannot lose him for anything, she left her wedding for him. She will have nobody left for her, he is the only person she has left.

"You have to be patient and relaxed...Mia is one of the best doctors I know, and she is in there so everything will be fine" Rose came to console her.

"Mia is now a doctor?" Lakshmi asked, she wasn't too surprised though, she saw it coming. Mia was one of the brightest students in school and she was always so persistent whenever she wanted something.

"Your....whoever he is to you is in good hands" Rose tried to find the right words to use in comforting her.

"My fiance" Lakshmi had a faint smile on her face and just then Mia walked out of the ER. She had overheard what Lakshmi had told Rose, but she needed to go get him blood from the hospital's blood bank.

"I'm sorry doctor Mia, but we don't have his blood group available" she was informed by the lady who was in charge.

When she went back to the ER to inform the doctors, she also offered to donate her blood.

It didn't take too long for Rose to hear this and she came to Mia.

"Mia, you can't just give your blood to every random person that needs it, just becomes you are a universal donor" Rose pulled Mia to one corner and was scolding her.

"I am not doing that. He is also a universal donor and it would be very difficult to find his blood group. And besides, he is Lakshmi's stepbrother. I don't want him to die" Mia whispered, just because Rose was whispering to her.

"Her stepbrother? She said he is her fiance" Rose exclaimed, she looked at Lakshmi and then back at Mia.

"We can figure out who he is to her later, maybe after saving his life" Mia reminded Rose of the present situation they were in.

"You are right. Fine, let's go meet the lab technician so we can conduct the blood test" Rose grabbed Mia's wrist and was walking out with her.

After the test was conducted, Rose realized that Mia's and Scott's blood was too perfect of a match. What was going on here? It seemed like they were brother and sister.

"There is so much tension going on here? No wonder I don't like watching any k-pop drama, because the drama that is happening around me is enough to give me any form of entertainment" Rose mumbled to herself.

"Mia, is he going to be alright?" Lakshmi rushed Mia once when she saw her coming out of the ER.

" Yes, his condition is stable now but Lakshmi I want to ask you something" Mia spoke softly and took off her stethoscope before taking a seat with Lakshmi.

"Ask me?" Lakshmi was happy about two things. One is that her fiance was going to be fine and the second was that Mia could now talk normally, and she had learned how to calm someone down before going into a deep conversation with them.

"Why did you tell Rose that Scott is your fiance, isn't he your father's son?" Mia scratched her head.

"He isn't, Scott and I aren't even related to each other, which means that we can be in a romantic relationship. No one is going to judge us Mia" Lakshmi was very excited to tell her friend.

"And how did you get to know that?" Mia asked again, and this time Rose decided to join the conversation.

"Do you mind?" Rose asked Lakshmi who shook her head, signifying to both girls as a no.
