Chapter 3 We can't be lover's Banshee

Louis was pacing back and forth in the room as he waited for Banshee to observe a shapeless object that even he couldn't describe.

"So?" He asked her, he was running out of patience and her silence only made him crazier.

"It is still intact so you are wrong," Banshee said to him, in disbelief.

"So why is she not autistic? Where is the sudden bravery coming from?" The king was very confused and angry at the same as he kicked the side stool beside him.

"I don't know whether it is due to her necklace or maybe because her father is supporting her.

One thing is sure, she does have a very powerful magic that is backing her, I have told you this before and I am going to tell you over and over again" Banshee was fed up with repeating herself to the king, but it seemed that no matter how many times she tried to explain things to him, he always had his doubts.

"So isn't there a way for us to get rid of this power of hers?" He asked her and she looked away from him for a minute as if she didn't want to tell him the answer.

She was scared of what his response would be, she wasn't scared because he was going to get at her but she was scared because she was in love with him and didn't want him to take a decision, that dreaded her the most.

"Answer me" he forced her to look at him.

"There is a way for us to succumb to her power but for us to do that, we will need..." she paused and struggled within herself to keep talking.

"We need what?" He asked her.

"The fire stone" she blurted out.

Although she had answered his question, she only raised more questions in his head and he was even more confused than he was initially.

"The firestone?" He asked her, trying to wrap his head around what she had just said.

"The fire stone" she repeated and paused, lifting her hand to the air.

"The firestone lies in the volcano of our beloved kingdom, it controls every magical object in this kingdom and more.

It is so powerful that nothing can break it or smash it" she waved her hands and an image of how it is supposed to look appeared. It looked reddish and oranged at the same time, it was flaming.

"So how do I get the firestone?" He asked her.

"You can't," she replied in a heartbeat.

"And why is that?" He asked her almost immediately.

"Because humans can't touch it, it is very difficult to get, and whosoever goes in the volcano, in search of it never returns alife" she paused.

"And why is that?" He asked the silliest question she had heard so far.

"Are you seriously asking me that?. It is inside a volcano for crying out loud and not just any volcano, one which can erupt at any time. It is the hottest volcano in the whole kingdom.

And even if you manage to reach it, you won't be able to hold it with your bare hands" she brought her hands down and he looked at her.

"I'll go with gloves then?" He asked wondering if what he said was silly

"That stone is so hot it can melt even the strongest metal. You can't go in search of it, because there is nothing we can do" she shook her head in disagreement.

"So, we are just going to give up like that and let Mia and her mother come and take everything that we had worked so hard for?" Louis was more than frustrated.

"It was never yours in the first place, so maybe you should just accept that it is gone and gone for good.

The tree will fade soon and when next it does, Mia must have taken over as the queen" Banshee said the words that irritated him the most, the words that he never wanted to come true.

"Banshee over my dead body will I ever allow her to reign as queen in this kingdom" he spoke with so much hatred in his voice.

Even Banshee had goosebumps.

"You won't die, see, let's just go away from this place where it would just be you and I.

Let's go and be happy, I am tired of all these fights here and there" she was trying to talk him out of any stupid idea that was in his head but he had already stood his ground.

"If you want to leave then it is fine by me, there is nothing that I can do to stop you, as for me I am not willing to give my kingdom to one orphan child who has no experience whatsoever and to Arthur's child as that.

Tell me how and when will be the best time to go find this firestone of a thing" he looked her straight in the eyes and made his words and actions clear to her.

"You will have to wait for some days, this isn't the best time for you to go there as the volcano normally erupts during this month. Just give it some time" he said in a sad tone.

She knew that if he was to push through with the journey then he might never come back to her again.

"Louis, while you're waiting, can you please reconsider your decision? Louis, I don't know how this might sound to you but I think I am in love with you." She shyly said as if she was a teenager.

"What?" He was so shocked, he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

I am married and I have a son, to top it all you were my father's lover" he tried to make her see the reason why her feelings for him were completely out of bounds.
