Chapter 4 Mason's arrogant mother

Mia and her friend Rose had finally located the address after a very long struggle.

The environment didn't look like a place Mason would stay, he was well-to-do and the place looked like the slumps, somewhere even Mia had never been despite being a poor orphan

They knocked on the door.

"Yes, who is it?" They heard the voice of a little girl who later came to open the door for them.

"What are you doing Amanda? I have told you to stop opening the door for strangers, you are going to put us in trouble because of your stubbornness" a woman came to the door and the girl ran back inside almost immediately.

"And who are you!" She didn't seem very nice to the girls, but Rose was determined to save Mason's Life.

"Hi, I am Rose and this is my friend Mia. We are looking for Mrs. Anita." Rose was the person who initiated the introduction.

The woman observed the girls very carefully, and she thought about something before she finally gave them a reply.

"I am Mrs. Anita.. is there a problem?" She became curious all of a sudden.

The girls seemed to have come from a very far place, they didn't even look like they belonged to that place so why did they have to come in search of her?

"Do you know this guy?" Rose brought out her phone and showed her a picture of Mason.

"No" she hastily denied and slammed the door in their faces.

"She is lying," Mia told Rose and continued to bang on the door.

"Go away or else I will call the police!" The woman threatened, but Mia wasn't willing to listen, she didn't let the woman have her way.

"Please just open the door and talk to us, we have to talk to you. It is very important and we are not going to harm you in any way" Rose pleaded with the woman who was still very persistent about calling the police.

"I will pay you if you listen to what we have to say" Rose shouted and could only hope that the woman would accept her offer.

"How much are we talking about here?" The woman asked and Rose could only heave a sigh of relief, knowing that she had managed to catch the woman's attention.

"Two hundred dollars" she replied and then there was silence, even Mia had stopped banging on the door

"Come let's go Mia '' Rose said almost in a whisper, she had lost all hope.

The girls were about to leave, thinking that the woman was no longer interested in Rose's offer.

They'd soon stopped in their tracks when they heard the sound of the door being unlocked.

"You are paying me two hundred dollars for one hour, I hope you understand?" The woman said to the girls, and Rose hastily accepted.

She offered for them to come inside and even served them water, but Rose had signaled for Mia not to take anything and Mia understood and agreed with her.

Rose still didn't trust this strange lady and it was quite understandable.

"I haven't poisoned you girls, but it's okay if you don't want to have anything. So tell me what you want to know about Mason?" The woman asked the girls, and they looked at each other and then at the woman.

"Everything possible we guess" Rose was the first to speak out

"Just start by telling us who his family is and how we can locate them?" Mia wanted the conversation to be shorter..she wasn't ready to be going round and round.

"He is my son," the woman managed to confess.

"Good now sign here" Rose brought out some documents, that she had been holding but the woman refused to sign.

"If he is in prison then he should remain there. I am not signing that thing for any reason at all" the woman made her intentions clear.

"Your son is dying and he isn't in prison" Rose tried to explain but she still didn't care.

"As you can see, I am not the one killing him so he can die, if that's what he wants to do '' the woman spoke without any iota of pity for her son.

"Are you sure you are his mother?" Rose asked the weird lady.

"I did give birth to him so unfortunately, I am his mother," the woman replied.

At this point, Mia had to scratch her head.

"So why then do you wish death upon your own son?" Mia had to ask.

"I don't wish death upon anybody, you are the ones that said he is dying." The woman stood up from her seat and went to attend to her crying child.

"How many kids do you have?" Rose was very curious because they had met a little girl earlier, and now she was trying to breastfeed a baby.

"I have 3 kids and you girls need to leave, because my husband will soon be back. I don't want him to come here and start asking questions.

"The woman was trying to drive the girls away but she didn't know how determined they were, Rose especially.

Not when she had finally loved someone she wasn't going to sit back and let him die, she was willing to go to any extent just to make sure he survives.

"Don't bother, we will wait here till he comes. I want to meet his dad as well, who knows? He might be more caring than you are towards your son" Rose was being sarcastic as she wobbled her a*s and made herself comfortable in the chair?.

"If you want to see his father then I would advise you to go to the graveyard, there lies his corps and not my house so get your a*s out of my chair and yourselves out of my house" the woman scolded the girls who weren't even moved by her words.

"So his father is dead?" Is that why you remarried and chose to abandon your son?" Rose was accusing her of a very bad thing.

"I didn't abandon anyone and if my husband dies, then I have every right to remarry and that's my personal life ,so it is really none of your business" the woman was so firm and proud.

Her crying child just made it difficult for her to pay attention to the girls. She kept on using her hands to rock the baby and rub the baby's back, but her baby couldn't stop crying.

"Maybe the baby just sees how evil you are and chooses to cry out his pain" Rose was crossing boundaries this time, after all, if Mason's mother could be less concerned about his death, why couldn't she be less concerned about the woman's feelings?.

"Hope you know you are still in my house?" The woman asked her.

"Yeah I know" Rose gave a fake smile, as she stood up and began to walk around.

"...this house you admire so much isn't even that cool. I mean it doesn't look so nice and even Mason's house is so much better than this. Is that why you don't love him? Because he has much better things than you do?" Rose asked.

"That's the silliest thing I have ever heard in my entire life" the woman held back her laughter.

"Then what else do you expect me to say?" Rose asked the woman.

Mia and her friend Rose had finally located the address after a very long struggle.
