Chapter 4 The new Luna

Vanessa's POV

The sunlight shone brightly, slanting through the windows. The birds were chirping and the wind howled gently swaying the trees from one direction to another. I walked towards the upper projection of the castle so l can have an overview of the stunning landscape and clear crystal river. I shielded my eyes to avert the rays from obscuring my vision when Riven suddenly walked inside.

He said to me, "Prepare to meet the pack, you are now their queen".

The first time I felt astonished then the next, I felt flattered.

I slowly dragged my feet to the bathroom. My thighs still hurt from the fantasy I experienced last night. He was an expert when it comes to bedding women. I gently undressed before slipping into the bathtub made of ceramics which was glowing pure white and void of stains. Illadora had these minerals in excess and no doubt every part of the castle will be adorned by them.

"Hurry, everyone is waiting", his masculine voice sounded from a distance.

I quickly rounded up and cleaned my hair with a towel that smelt of him.

I exited the bathroom and I walked into the room. Coming inside, I saw Riven sitting on the bed spreading his arms while he closely watched me.

"Aren't you gonna join them? You don't have to wait for me because I might take some time to dress up``.I explained, trying to send him out of the room.

I haven't quite gotten used to him so I felt uneasy whenever those charming eyes of his landed on me.

"No I'll stay till you're done or am I not your mate?" he questioned as he relaxed more still, gluing his eyes to my body. I slowly unwrapped the towel and flung it onto the hanger still narrowing my gaze unaware of what he was doing. From the corner of my eyes, I could see that my nudity aroused him as he stood up and caressed my porcelain body.

"Oh, you are a beauty sent by the moon goddess to me" he gasped as his hands firmly pressed my butt before poking his fingers into my asshole.

I yelped but gradually stopped to remind him that we had a whole pack waiting for us. I can feel the strong bond and dancing sparks between our wolves.

"Fine, here are your clothes", he said with a frown, extending his hands to my reach. I put them on in haste so he can stop lusting on my body.

We entered the palace, walking majestically down the hallway. Riven wrapped his hand around my waist to show possession as the whole pack howled, celebrating him because he had found his mate. His mother, Audrey, wore a smile on her face as the alpha king introduced me to the pack, concluding his speech that I was their new queen and Luna. Everyone was excited except the king's beta, Sylvester. He seemed to me as one who was in oblivion ." That may be his problem?", I thought. I overlooked him, not detecting his evil motives.

Sylvester's POV

I glared furiously at Riven, my alpha with envy and jealousy puffing up in me. I regretted not approaching Vanessa earlier before he did. He had always by-passed me in all aspects but wouldn't let this one pass.

Unknown to them last night, I was standing at the door peering through the keyhole witnessing every act of romance he had with her after marking her. I got enraged and almost broke into their seclusion when one of the Zeta pulled me back. He could vividly hear their panting and loud moans so he felt I shouldn't be intruding into their privacy. I angrily sauntered outside as my steel blue eyes shone and my hands transformed and stretched into claws. I vented my rage at the cedars in the palace courtyard, slashing and hitting it with my strength till it toppled down.

The Zeta returned to me and demanded to know why I wanted to interfere with their privacy. I lied to him, narrating how the alpha king forcibly snatched Vanessa,my would-be mate away from me. I told him to help me get back at Riven and his mate by blackmailing her. The brainwashing was an effective one as we all knew that alphas get what they wanted no matter how tough it seemed. He agreed to help me only if I could get his niece, Matilda Woods to be the next Luna of the pack. I concurred to do as he wished. I set a mischievous smirk across my face. The alpha and his new queen were uninformed about our schemes to separate them. Her fair countenance kept recalling in my memories. If I can't have her all to myself,then no one would.

After the introduction was done. I tried to speak to her about how my wolf feels but each time I saw her, she was always with my Riven. Finally, I traced her to the garden where she was sitting with a flower close to her nose; while she watched the sun disappear at the rim of the dark horizon.

"What a beautiful world!", she exclaimed, smiling in ecstasy.

"Yes, just as beautiful as your smile", my baritone voice echoed into her ears.

Vanessa quickly gasped as she was startled by my sudden presence.

"Wow, I didn't know you have been there all this time", She said, standing to her feet while she clasped her hands.

"Who wouldn't love to be by your side when you are the desire of every..."

She interrupted me, "Excuse me, I don't really get what you're trying to imply?". I could see her amber eyes glow as she was already getting tense but that didn't stop me from telling her how I felt about her.

"You're an amazing she-wolf. Riven doesn't deserve you, I deserve you...come to me and together..."

"Will you stop this madness! I don't know what has gotten into this brain of yours but I kindly ask to take my leave", She politely said, trying to mask every form of aggression with a smile.

Vanessa attempted to leave but I held her hands pulling her to my hefty body. At once, I felt the urge to kiss her but I didn't know how she would react to it. I sensed she was angry but didn't know that she would fight back. Her eyes glowed purple before they pitched black as a kind of magnetic force emanated from her body, slamming me to the wall. She just stood there and gazed at her hands in bewilderment before she ran off. I got up groaning and supporting my aching spine with my right hand.

My steel blue eyes glowed in fury because I was already infuriated. My short temper was getting out of hand and I couldn't control it any longer. As I shifted into my werewolf form, scratching the grass with my paws to catch her; something struck my mind," the Zeta's plan" .Maybe, I could use it to get back at her. I transformed back to human, wearing a smudge smirk on my face.

Vanessa's POV

I kept running as my footsteps reverberated inside the silent hallway. When I arrived at the room, I hurriedly bashed the door while I fell to the bed unwaveringly clutching the blanket. My vision blurred and my head spun as a strange aura clouded me. Goosebumps pricked out of my shivering skin like I was beaten by a heavy downpour.

"What could this mean? Sylvester...the eldritch force..?. My head slammed in diverse questions and imaginations I couldn't decipher. His words kept sounding in my ears and I tried hard to shut them out but they kept becoming plangent.

However, while I was still trapped in these delusions, I heard a knock on my door. I gasped,could it be Sylvester? I was indecisive about opening it when the voice became familiar to me.

"It's the queen", I felt calmed.

I twisted the door knob and it snapped open. Leaving it ajar, I went back to sit on the bed feigning a weak smile. Queen Audrey stepped in and smiled back at me before asking, "How're you, my dear?".

"I'm okay", I replied, feeling a bit uneasy at her unexpected presence.

"Well, I just came to check on you as the alpha and his beta have gone to explore the forest with some Zetas", she explained while sitting close to me.

I froze the instant she mentioned the alpha's beta, Sylvester. I was finding it hard to forget what he told me.

"Dear, you look worried. You don't have to think much cause those boys never get hurt in all their hunting sprees", she proudly said while her hands caressed my face.

I desperately wanted her to change the subject, so I thought of something random and there, discussing fashion would be the best option. I asked her about her favorite dress and she was happy to reply to me.

"Oh! I love the kimono dress because it looks really good on me, how about you?", she asked, her eyes widening in curiosity.

"Well? the floral dresses 'cause I had a thing for flowers "I responded, feeling relieved.

"You know I want a high-rank she wolf for my son and here you're as his new mate, Oh! I'm really glad", she expresses her approval, clamping her hands with mine.

"It's my pleasure and I'm highly honored to be his mate," I said in appreciation, wearing a meek smile on my face.

I felt relaxed forgetting the weird drama that happened earlier as I continued chatting with Queen Audrey. I laughed our hearts out at every joke she cracked, also telling me childhood stories of Riven. Meanwhile, as our intimacy grew that night, Sylvester had already devised a deadly plan to destroy it.
