Chapter 3 Meeting my mate

Vanessa's POV

I had mixed feelings as I was excited and nervous at the same time. My sister had told me of the letter of invitation dispersed by the scout all over Illadora. The letter also had it that the omegas were an exception; lucky enough, I was a she wolf of the amber eyes wolf pack and I did stand a chance to be chosen by him.

"I heard he's handsome and sexy". That's my sister, Pamela, who was always fond of commenting on people's good looks.

"Yeah, sure he does", I replied, pretending to care less. It was obvious she wanted me to say something.

"I hope he chooses me tonight," Pamela said while pulling out a pink flowing gown. She paused, sniffing the gown before clutching it to her chest in a romantic mood.

" I can't wait to meet him...oh his kisses and..and strong arms... I deeply yearn for them"she continued blushing.

"Oh stop having high hopes, he might end up not even noticing you in the party"I lashed out, staring at her in disgust.

I couldn't believe that she was going to compete with me over winning his heart. God knows how many other she-wolves who were out there also crushing on him.

"Just wait and see, he will choose me!"She yelled in frustration, getting up with her dress and briskly walked into the dressing room.

"Arrrghh" I felt sick thinking about how we sisters would fight over one man who was the new alpha king.

It struck six as the bell was rung indicating it was time for the ball to commence. We hastily made our way to the castle. The castle was over thirty feet tall which made it easy for anyone to locate the palace. It was surrounded by impregnable tall walls that adjoined the southern parts of the forest.

The colored lights rotating on the ceiling gave the hall a warm atmosphere. A large chandelier was placed in the middle of an endless golden table. In a few moments, the alpha king arrived with his beta at his side. He looked so handsome in his royal apparel. His strong chest and firm muscles were visible even in his garment. Two pairs of deep blue eyes would make every she wolf long to drown in his affection.

He welcomed everyone most especially the she-wolves. Maybe he had a thing for ladies. He signaled his chief butler who served a palatable and scrumptious meal to everyone. Meanwhile, as the dinner lasted, we kept exchanging glances, trying to avoid the meeting of our eyeballs. After dinner, the ball began. He then announces that he had started his selection. Navigating his eyes among the beautiful hot ladies,he walked towards my direction. I bit my lower lips in nervousness expecting him to pick me but I felt awkward when she said to my sister, "May I take your hands?" "Sure!", Pamela answered without hesitation.

She embraced his strong arms and they danced rhythmically to the tune of the music until the end. The guest applauded him as he was indeed a great dancer. He salutes them after which he whispers something to his beta before leaving the hall. I felt my sister had won but my presumption was proven wrong; when a firm hand suddenly gripped me. I turned to see that it was his beta, Sylvester Stones.

"The alpha king wants you in his chambers right now", he said in a husky voice, pulling me along with him.

I could have fought back but I willingly followed him to the doorway.``The castle is huge",l thought, looking around as I was lost in its beauty. We arrived at his chambers and he asked me to go inside before taking his leave. I exhaled deeply as my shaky hands twisted the door knob. I hope I was ready to do this.

Immediately I opened the door, a hot and sexy creature drew me inside like a malequine. I was startled when I saw him wearing a small boxer which revealed his V- shaped thing.

"Oh God! He's half naked?", I whispered to my wolf, Aiyana. But she seemed to be craving for her mate's sensual touch.

"I am Vanessa Winston, she wolf of the amber eyes wolf pack. Nice to meet you "I introduced myself, still feeling mesmerized by his manly stature. His six abs and strong muscles made me feel more nervous.

"Hmmm, I can tell from your red hair and your reddish orange eyeballs. I believe those were the same eyes staring at me from the arena yesterday "he insinuated with a seductive smirk, evolving around my body.

I was shocked as I never knew he saw me even when I ducked behind the crowd. Werewolves possessed a keen sense of scenting their kind so l stopped wondering.

"I love those sexy curves of yours, your scent is so appealing too.They smell just like roses and apples", he sniffed my hair down to my neck as he measured my waist with his hands.

"I think my wolf wants you as his mate so I'm gonna mark you tonight with my wolf bite," he told me, pinning me to the wall.

"So do you feel the same way", he asked me as his dormant red eyes peered into mine.

I just nodded still motionless as I have never experienced mating before. I had wanted this earlier. I didn't know why I'm feeling reluctant now.

Audrey's POV

I woke up hurriedly and rushed to my son's room. Before the ball ended yesterday, he vanished into thin air without bading the guest goodbye. I had a hunch that he must have gone to be with his supposed mate. I went to Sylvester, his beta, who seemed to be offended. I asked him why he was looking pale but he told me not to bother. Waving it aside, I asked him where his alpha was and he stated something like," he's making out with some girl".I flinched as my heartbeats skipped.

"I hope she's not an omega because I will kill her"I threatened, waiting for daylight to appear and now it has.

I got to his room and knocked hard on his door. There was no response. Maybe they were still sleeping. I couldn't stay any much longer at the door post because I was anxious to see and know her. Barging into the room, I saw my son and the unfamiliar lady sleeping next to him. On observation, I noticed that the room was haphazard as clothes and scrolls were scattered on the floor."Could they have done something already?"I thought as I frowned in disgust.

"Riven"I called him, tapping his shoulder. He woke up, looking all stressed out from the long exercise he probably had yesternight.

"Can I see you outside?"I demanded, stepping out of the room.

"Ok," he replied, dragging his heavy feet off the bed.

The girl was still sleeping all wrapped up in a blanket. She looked so beautiful but I still wouldn't accept her If she was an omega.

"Who is she?"I sharply threw the question at him.

Riven always understood my questions and that's why he came up with the right answer after I had thrown it.

"C'mon mother, she's my newly found mate, remember the one I told about?" he responded while scratching his head with his fingers.

His description wasn't satisfactory to me yet and I wanted to know more.

"Tell me, son, is she from a prominent pack?"I kept interrogating him in persistence.

"Ummh, she is a she wolf from the amber eyes wolf pack ", he explained to me and I was getting excited.

"Well, I hope you're telling me the truth?", I said,questioning his honesty which I had never done before.

"Sure, you can take a look" he suggested but I didn't give in to it.

"You should do well to introduce her to the pack and not now she in a mess", I reminded him with my footsteps receding.

I felt at ease as calmness ruled my mind after all, she was not an omega. But something wasn't right about her scents. She smelt way different like she was a hybrid.
